I have to think about this (1st world problems). I like the blue...but will I like it in a year, 2...maybe 3?? (This phone I feel should take me into 2023, maybe '24 - depends what Apple comes out with)

Or just stick with what has worked with me for over a decade, the black, "graphite" - more like blah dull gray...yet still slick looking. I HAVE to see what graphite looks like in person.

Yet I still look at 11 Pro's and still like the green - although I don't own an 11 Pro. 🙄

Plus I always have a case on it, so it shouldn't bug me, what's the point..who cares what color? Yet Silver and Gold is out of the question, it's not for me. Hm, stupid silly indecisions.

From someone who currently owns a MG 11 Pro Max and went for the new color last year I will be staying away for that exact point...I got sick of it. Sure, having the new most popular color last year was cool for about all of a month or two then I had buyers remorse with no option at that point to swap it. The fact that your already entertaining the thought you might not like it then chances are that will be the case down the line so probably better off sticking with the more neutral Graphite. Just my 2 cents but again I went through it last year and will not be doing the same this year.

I totally hear you, this was literally going through my head last night, weighing pros and cons on silly color options. I don't want to get blue..feeling "eh" about it days later, regret it a week later..try to return or exchange it, but no phones in stock until (early Mid - Dec?).

The camera module will be the only color seen through a case, so - MAYBE in time -I may end up looking for the little "mods" skins/stickers, "protective colored film" you can buy on Amazon or Ebay. An option if I do get bored with the color. Who knows, I never got bored - or cared with the black/space gray colors in all my time with my phones.

So ok, I just may go to the Graphite after all. (Also I may have more luck getting that on launch day since the poll above shows a lot want blue)

What I totally expect, perhaps with every phone color, not just Silver & the shiny stainless steel flat sides.
Scratching. (Like the X, like Stainless Steel Apple Watches), I just recall that from this forum back in Nov-Dec 2018.

It's just simply inevitable and unavoidable. Perhaps if you go with the case, maybe find some kind of clear protective "film" for the sides if you want to keep these looking flawless as possible.

As long I don't see a scratch out of the box - like some did when they got the iPhone X - I'm fine.

After going with black for a decade I too considering being brave and try something new in my life: BLUE. But, then my brain informed me those sides look like they have that light blue plastic you peel off...and now i cant get that notion out of my head.

On the other hand, that washed out pathetic grey doesn't exactly look badass...not like the batman black iphone 7 I used to have. That was a beautiful phone.

Color matters more this year since I am planning on going case-less, since these phones can be held properly for the first time since 5. I never had a case nor issues with 4 and 5 due to the flat sides.

Ugh.

Silver all the way 😆
Least prone to scratches and if there are some, it could be polished. With all other colors, the steel is coated and therefore easier to look worn...

I was hopping for a matte finish like the iPhone 4. But at the end of the day, it really does not matter to me as the phone will live in a case from day 1 until the day it gets sold :).

Yeah the benefit of Silver sides, no coating. You can take a cloth like Cape Cod Polishing and clean that up (I've done this a few times on my AW Silver SS and it works wonders.) Can't quite do that on the color finishes...unless I'm missing some "special color safe polish?"

I did take my XS Max out of the leather case and look at the sides..first time I'm really looking at the black sides, no scratching at all after 2+ years, just some dull "tarnish" looks more like a oil build up that was simply removed with microfiber. So perhaps this won't be an issue?? We'll see.

Sounds silly perhaps, the "protective film," like I said before in a past..you drop BIG $ on this, I like to treat this as a new car. LOL. (That first scratch can - for some - be painful, well...at least for me)

I was thinking silver/white all the way - but now I'm looking at the renderings in the cases and with such a big space for the camera, I'm thinking the white/silver is just a little too "bright" for that space. The black may look better in a case (I tend to use redbubble cases, so they have images on them). Because really, it's in a case, so I only really worry about the visible parts.

So I ended up going with graphite instead of gold. My issue is that Apple changes the gold color every year since iPhone 8. Some models didn’t look as good in real life and some looked better than the promo pics. I can’t really determine if I will like the gold since there is much footage of it in different lighting conditions. Graphite has a sexy pencil shade to it, plus the darker stainless steel bands. It was the overall winner for me.

Gold looks best. However I ordered graphite, since otherwise it would have been too obvious in upcoming business meetings, when playing around with it... this way it looks like my company phone.

It seems that all the colour options will have the PVD coating this year, including Silver.

What does the PVD coating do? Does this help with scratching? I cancelled my order for silver because I saw how easy the silver band scratches. Hoping I didn’t make the wrong choice. Ended up going graphite.

It should protect the steel from minor scratches. Silver versions of iPhones (X, Xs, 11 Pro) have always been extremely easy to scratch because there was no PVD coating on the steel.
