Very good series - if slightly hokey at the end. Reminded me of the end of Westworld. One of the few genuine SciFi series (IMO) as opposed to genre series just being set in Outer Space/Another World etc

I like Alex Garland's work, and enjoyed Devs, but at times wasn't sold on the actress who played Lily. He likes to work with her though, and she's ok when not asked to carry the lead (like in Ex Machina). Offerman was good, and Zach Grenier knows how to play a dick.

He said he couldn't have done Devs as a feature, and will do more TV, so there's something to look forward to.

Been watching La casa de papel (Money Heisg) on Netflix. Very well done crime drama and really not sure where it is going (only on episode 4 of the first season) .

Good to hear. More would be welcomed. Yes, she seemed a bit unnecessarily dim at times. I didn't mind Alison Pill in this but in other shows she has been unwatchable. Good though in The Newsroom.

Big Little Lies - Season 1 - What a good, interesting TV Series.
Big Little Lies - Season 2 - Handbook case of how to destroy a good, interesting TV series. I am halfway through it, but Meryl Streep's character is out of control and is destroying everything that was good of this series. She's pushed in the middle of things, has an uncanny 6th sense for everything, she is always in the wrong place at the wrong time, she's unrealistic, tedious, boring, one-sided. Watching this I have the feeling that Streep for some reason wanted to be in the series and considering how powerful she is in Hollywood they couldn't say no (if you've ever read about what happens behind the scenes when many stars are included you know that this is not so far fetched). Seriously, she's singlehandedly destroying everything that was good, I am going to keep watching it just because, but she's truly unwatchable here. The other new character (Bonnie's mother) is also shockingly bad, hinting that she can have visions about what happened (although the story here might progress as there's lots of space) and just causing problems for the sake of it.

ZERO ZERO ZERO on Amazon prime.

If you liked Narcos or the movie "Traffic" you will love this series.

Much greener pastures
When television historians gather, they speak in reverent tones of a short-lived, critically loved but little-seen 1990s series: The Adventures of Briscoe County, Jr.

I must have run across the name of that show half a dozen times over the years, and always with praise from people who've seen it. So I was on IMDb's channel yesterday and there it was.

Watched the pilot today, and I'm going to keep going. It's a breezy mixture of western, comedy and a little sci-fi. It reminded me more than once of a scaled-for-TV version of the Indiana Jones movies.

And it's got Bruce Campbell. ? It'll be interesting to see where this goes.

My wife and I watched it back in the day. We thought that it was ended too soon. On which streaming service are you able to watch it?

It's great, I mean, like you said, Bruce Campbell means it's automatically the best thing ever :D

It had some great talent, Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel, the new-ish jack Ryan series), Jeff Boam (screen[play]writer of Lost Boys, The Last Crusade.

It's really fun, it's got that Alias thing with it being X, but also Y, but __really__ Z :) (no spoilers)

Enjoy.

Thanks. I was reading about how it died because of poor ratings. But if I remember correctly the year it was on, 1993, it was the lead-in to the first season of The X Files. That show got poor ratings on its first run, too. (The X Files didn't start picking up until summer reruns.) So, one show was renewed and the other got canned. Not fair, but that's TV for you.

(I was going to say that's network TV for you, but Netflix has a history of weird cancellations too.)

I never watched Briscoe, but did enjoy him as the sidekick in Burn Notice, which did have a spy theme.

I've read that they're working on a revival of White Collar, another USA Network show that ran concurrently.

Don't know what the chances of that are, since USA is putting its focus on live and unscripted programming, and not original dramas, whether light or heavy. Perhaps a miniseries, which is possible given the finale.
