True Detective Season 1
Scary... really scary, dark and foreboding (though not technically "horror"). Fantastic character development. Deep, intelligent, thought-provoking concepts and dialog. It's a slow burn, and definitely for mature audiences only. The acting, cinematography, direction, pacing was brilliant. Highly recommended.

I have to agree that True Detective season 1 was brilliant. If you want to see the actor (Ólafur Darri Ólafsson) who rides the lawnmower from TD in a very different context but also very good, check out Trapped on Prime.

The Looming Tower - HULU.

"The Looming Tower" traces the rising threat of Osama bin Laden and al-Qaida in the late '90s and how a rivalry between the FBI and CIA during the time period may have inadvertently set the path for the attacks of 9/11. The series follows members of the I-49 Squad in New York and Alec Station in Washington, D.C. -- the counterterrorism divisions of the FBI and CIA, respectively -- as they travel around the world, fighting for ownership of information while seemingly working toward a common goal of preventing an imminent attack on American soil. The drama is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book of the same name by Lawrence Wright.

A couple more episodes of Lucifer. I love the way Maize is played. I had to stop playing the show I was laughing so hard.

Thanks for the heads-up about True Detective, will put it on my Prime viewing list.

Season 1 is pretty spectacular, I mean, Best N series ever. The idea with the show is a "reboot" each season, with just the idea of police investigation being the consistent theme. Season 2 is a bit of a train wreck - after the tone, implications, etc., of S1, I think people expected more of that, it's not at all (for the record, I thought Vince Vaughn did a great job with what he was given). I'd' say S3 brings it back, has a great storytelling mechanism, call it an 8/10 where S1 is a 10/10.

Big Little Lies - Season 1 - What a good, interesting TV Series.
Big Little Lies - Season 2 - Handbook case of how to destroy a good, interesting TV series. I am halfway through it, but Meryl Streep's character is out of control and is destroying everything that was good of this series. She's pushed in the middle of things, has an uncanny 6th sense for everything, she is always in the wrong place at the wrong time, she's unrealistic, tedious, boring, one-sided. Watching this I have the feeling that Streep for some reason wanted to be in the series and considering how powerful she is in Hollywood they couldn't say no (if you've ever read about what happens behind the scenes when many stars are included you know that this is not so far fetched). Seriously, she's singlehandedly destroying everything that was good, I am going to keep watching it just because, but she's truly unwatchable here. The other new character (Bonnie's mother) is also shockingly bad, hinting that she can have visions about what happened (although the story here might progress as there's lots of space) and just causing problems for the sake of it.
Definitely agree.
Season 1 was quite good the way it was.
Season 2 was a struggle to get through. Streep's character was just frustrating to me every time she came on scene.

Have you seen Little Fires Everywhere? It's a bit in the same vein (it also stars Reese Witherspoon), it's on Hulu (at the moment), family melodrama, developed by the terrifically talented Liz Tigelaar.

Yes, and I can't believe that

the whole Streep storyline in S2 ended up with a trial, a trial in which a last minute saving-grace video is found on an iPad. I mean, really? That's poor writing all while Bonnie's mom just dies.

Absolutely amazing show. The wife and I enjoyed every single second of it. I wish there would be a season two but considering this season covered the entire book I can't see it happening. It's possible but unlikely, methinks.

The cast and their respective acting talents blew us away. Especially the kids.

Started rewatching my personal favorite Netflix original show, Dark, in anticipation of the third and final season that will premiere on June 27th. I have a feeling I'm going to need the whole month to get up to speed again on who exactly is who, where, why etc.

Can't wait.

Just finished Eureka on Amazon and was really sad to see it end. I never watched this series when it was on because I was still working and had no time for TV. But I absolutely loved it!! Will give it a few months and watch it again!!

Eureka was an amazing show and I was sad to see it end after five seasons.

Such a unique premise and plot. I miss that show quite a lot.

I just finished the entire West Wing series (166 episodes). Between all the talking heads and asinine commercials (insurance companies are the worst) it was a pleasure not to be interrupted every 10 minutes by the emu.

Great series, 277 award nominations, 87 wins.

Finally finished up "Letterkenny" on Hulu. Can't wait till it comes back! We loved this series and the characters. It is some good Canadian comedy!

I'm thinking seriously of signing up for HBO Max just to re-watch the Sopranos again. It has been a few years and a second viewing of great series always brings more out that was not fully noticed or appreciated the first time.

I'm also tempted to re-watch Breaking Bad.
