Have just finished Season 3 of DoW. I don't know where it will go from here, and will have to check through the books. It seemed to go in a completely different direction.

I have started re-reading the novels. It's not really a problem, but whenever Aunt Sarah is mentioned, I can't help but see Alex Kingston.
Anyway, no names, no pack drill, but Aunt Sarah does get to resolve a major issue in Season 3 in a particularly satisfying way.

I’m about to start the 4th season of Ozark, but only the first 7 of 14 episodes are out. No telling when the second 7 will show…

Jason Bateman was on Kimmel the other night and he said the 2nd batch of 7 episodes release date was "not yet announced, but it’ll be kinda soon, I think."

Filming for the entire season four was wrapped in October.

I also read that they would need to have the season fully aired by May 31 to be eligible for the 2022 Emmys.

So my guess is sometime before May 31...

:p

Finished re-watching Babylon 5 this week. Nice show, especially the first 4 seasons.

Surely you remember not that long ago when TV series were actually broadcast over the air and each episode came out one week at a time...

That's true.

A long time ago there was a giant antenna in your town and the TV station broadcast a signal that every TV picked up at the same time. And since there were only so many hours in the day... they had to schedule one show per half hour, or hour, per week.

Later cable TV did the same thing... over a wire instead of the airwaves. But they were still bound by the schedule.

But now in this on-demand world... where anyone can watch anything at any time... the concept of schedules have been antiquated.

TV shows on some streaming services are all shot and edited ahead of time... and they can release them all at once. I think Netflix was the first to do this.

But some streaming services are sticking to the old once-a-week schedule.

My question is... how much longer will weekly releases be a thing?

There are 15 year olds today who have never watched a weekly broadcast TV show. So in 10 years... when they are 25 years old... will shows still be released once-a-week?

Again... that concept already seems so antiquated.

Of course the once-a-week thing on streaming keeps people subscribed. They know you'll be subscribed for at least 3 months for a particular show. That's why some streaming services are sticking to the old idea.

But it still seems like a relic from a bygone era.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I need a new series to watch I think. There is just so much out there that it's hard to pick. I have been thinking Fringe, since that is on HBO Max (And I've never seen it) but there is also Eureka which is on Amazon Video. So many choices. Or I just rewatch Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the second time ever.

We loved Fringe when it was first broadcast, and it’s hard to believe that series aired from 2008-2013, almost a decade ago. Anna Torv and John Noble were terrific. Our only complaint was how dark everything was, sometimes hard to actually see what’s going on. Had to make sure no room lighting reflected on the screen and the display was at full brightness. Most enjoyable though.

Just finished the last 2 episodes of The Expanse. What an awesome show! Easily one of my all time favorite sci-fi shows.
In trying to sus out it being the final season, but leaving a big new arc in place, I suspect that we’ll be seeing a movie at some point to tie it all up. That or it goes to another platform, which seems unlikely.

The German series “Dark” is the best thing I have seen on Netflix, although very complex and you need to concentrate hard.
Very rewarding, if you have the patience! ( I have watched it twice just to understand all of the connections )
You would need to watch it in the original German with English subtitles, as the English overdubs just don't have the same atmosphere.
Another thing: it is dark in all respects – many scenes are dark and impossible to watch in a bright room or during the day, so best to keep it for night-time.
10/10 from me.
