Been enjoying a lot Super Pumped! Is it true the story of Uber and geofencing the app on Apple Campus to get it approved while still collecting user data??

Anyone familiar with the story?

It was a part of a Kalanick profile in the NYT. Apple caught onto the scheme, and after being summoned to a meeting at Apple HQ, Cook confronted him about it, and threatened to remove the Uber app from the store. Would have been great to be a fly on the wall during that meeting.

I thought that was a surprisingly lenient punishment for such a devious and malicious attempt to circumvent Apple's rules. There was no plausible deniability there. Apple could still have symbolically pulled the app, and allowed existing users to continue unaffected, but supposedly, Kalanick got the message loud and clear.

In a later incident, Facebook didn't get off so lightly, after abusing its developer channels to collect user data; Apple yanked their dev certificate and disrupted FB operations for a day or so. It' seems Cook has always had a lower regard, or perhaps a disdain, for Zuck and FB, but abusing a privileged position and dev tools could also be construed as a more serious offense as well.

I just saw that too. I'm trying to decide whether or not to go back and watch the first season before diving into season 2, because I don't know if I remember the doggone storyline at this point! (Old age, perhaps . . . )
I watched it last year... my wife has not seen it yet. We have season 1 queued up for this weekend, and then straight into season 2.

I was enjoying JO (Jean Reno) but came to the end of season 1 and realized there were no more seasons. I wonder what would have happened in season 2?

Outer Range... I'm a little disappointed after watching this weeks episodes. It's mainly a family/crime drama with a bit of mystery added. It has tons of potential but it's not used. I'm worried the next two episodes will focus on the hearing and give us a legal battle for the land. That being said... what's it about the number 9? It's showing up everywhere. The buffalo walking around is the same as the one in Wayne's bedroom?!? Went back to the ending of episode 2, everyone is wearing a necklace with a stone like the one Autumn had... a cult?

It's odd Wayne is so sick, at times he can't move and seems close to dying and the next minute he's jumping out of bed, get's into a truck, drives around, is fighting with a healthy man and wins the fight?!? Are we fooled here? Are there time jumps in the series that are not obvious and "fighting Wayne" is a younger version of "sick Wayne"?

I sure hope they're not pulling a 12 Monkeys (the series not the movie) or Dark (Netflix) here, in the sense it's a time loop with cause=effect... that would be disappointing. A Sixth Sense (everyone is dead stuck in limbo, that's why some people can't remember everything) would be disappointing as well.

Hopefully we'll get some answers next week.

Different series... I watched the first episode of LA Brea. Seems interesting, feeling some Terra Nova vibes.

It's become too much like Lost for my liking already...

Endgame Lost, yes. I loved Lost for the mysteries and right until the last season it seemed like we'd get answers. I was very disappointed when I watched the last season back then. I rewatched it in 2020 when a saved time every day commuting and enjoyed it then, but I already knew it's all about the characters.

Then again, if someone would have told me Outer Range is all about solving a murder and legal battle for some land, I probably never would have started watching.

I’m so frustrated with Outer Range! Give us the answers on the hole, ffs! I don’t care about the under and the land…unless everything is connected?!

Watched the three episode limited series on John Wayne Gacy. Was pretty interesting and they layout the timeline pretty well. The dude was seriously messed up and none, and I mean none of the murders was his fault. According to him of course.

Finished La Brea. Loved it in the end, some good mysteries, some answers, leaving some things unanswered and setting everything up for season 2 (it's already renewed). It reminds me of Terra Nova and a mix of Primeval/Earth 2. They're going to up the episode count from 10 to 14 episodes in season 2. Given it's a fairly expensive show, I'm not sure if that's a good idea.

My wife and I really liked La Brea. Looking forward to season 2.
