I saw on AV club they liked the last episode the least (by a decent margin). Again, we've only watched S4E1 [no spoilers], but here's the ratings for all 6 EPs from AVC, just curious if they kind of mirror your perspective:
A- "USS Callister"
B+ "Arkangel"
B- "Crocodile"
A- "Hang the DJ"
B+ "Metalhead"
C+ "Black Museum"
I saw that BM was the worst reviewed over all. I liked it. Metal head was horrible. I can’t say why without spoilers. Ark angel was just so-so. If you can’t guess how it’s gonna turn out, not exactly plot-wise but theme-wise, then you might like it better. But it was pretty obvious to me. I liked hang a lot. Crocodile was good but didn’t blow me away. Curious to see what u and others think when u catch up.
I wish I had amazon to watch that. I don’t want to pay for another tv service.OK, so we still haven't watch BM, but did watch the other 4.
I really liked Metal Head, I mean, I was partially smitten by the technical execution, really beautifully shot, and the "dog" was done fantastically well. The spoiler? I thought that was pretty amazing, I suppose for some it might mean, "So what", I kind of get both perspectives.
Same for me (as you) with Arkangel, Crocodile was really fun, but the implied bit at the end was a bit of WTF (I can respond with spoiler tags if you want to chat about it).
We _really_ liked Hang the DJ, I think some people thought the end kind of diminished the impact of the main characters through the bulk of the EP, but I kind of like it as a "double reverse"
BTW, we also started the new Amazon series Electric Dreams, based on PKD short stories, pretty good so far, very Black Mirror -esque, nice technical work and terrific performances, the stories themselves are a bit of a retread of popular sci-fi tropes, but they're still fun. Brian Cranston (of Breaking Bad fame) is an exec producer, and in EP 3 (er, maybe 2?) which is a solid bit of work even if the ending is a little telegraphed. His wife is played fantastically by Essie Davis (who played the Mom in the Babadook, one of the best horror movies of the last decade).
I'm watching it too. It's as you say a bit more detective show than scfi which might develop as it progresses.I can't really binge shows like others can but I'm trying hard to watch Hard Sun on BBC iPlayer. It's good! I was hoping for more pre-apocalyptic stuff but currently it's just a detective show with armageddon just out of sight. Which is interesting as I don't think anyone else has done anything like this before but I do like a bit of sci-fi.
There was a show on ITV some time ago that was detective meets sci-fi. Absolutely forgot the name.... though it was cancelled after just one series.I'm watching it too. It's as you say a bit more detective show than scfi which might develop as it progresses.
Utopia was outstanding. I keep hoping that Netflix picks it up. Really want to know where the story goes. Nothing felt as dark as that and I want more!Enjoyed it, never played the games myself but countless friends laud them.
I blew through the first season of Ghosted. Love it. Plus it has Adeel Akhtar, who played my favorite TV character Wilson Wilson

Haven’t seen castlevania yet which is odd because I love the games very much.

If all else fails there is always YouTube.I have been browsing the internet to see whether I can lay hands on a DVD (or, failing that - VTC) copy of the outstanding Granada (ITV) TV series (from the mid 80s) called "End of Empire".
At the time, I recall it is astonishingly good; now, with hindsight - and things I have learned since - I would welcome a chance to view the series again.

Spent yesterday binging on season 2 of Travelers on Netflix. Still have 2 episodes left.
If you haven't watched it, I highly recommend it. Time travel (sort of) and Intrigue at its best.
