iPad Gen 4 Air, no bleed using YouTube black video at 100%. But who does that? That video was boring as hell. And 100%, hey my iPad battery is defective, it only last two hours.

Peeps, come on. I know. It’s my fault. I keep getting lured into these discussions.
Indeed, it is my fault as well. @dantay is right. I shoulda kept my mouth shut. lol. Sorry bout that.

Okay I understand that this continuous replacement might be obsessive and reading this forum doesn’t really help with that. But really it is noticable when you watch movies, and I see it at lower brightness levels and in daylight as well.

I just want to see pictures of someone with NO bleed, which I haven’t seen yet.
I personally don’t think there is a perfect screen, if you look at notebookcheck a good lcd is 90-95% even. I’m waiting to see what the Air gets when it’s reviewed, probably about 85-90% and that difference is noticeable on darker images in darker environments.

I‘m happy with the one I have now, I wasn’t happy with the first.

Good luck getting one your happy with.

Does this happen in certain apps? Watching videos or mostly static images like text?

Maybe try a different Apple Store with different stock? Most Apple stores are super lit so it's hard to get light bleed to show until you get home.

I do a lot of device usage in dark areas so that would bother the heck out of me if I had these problems. I hope you find a way to resolve it.
It happens with strictly black borders but I disagree with people saying it’s only noticable at 100% brightness. It’s clearly visible at 40-50% brightness settings for me, and this was the case for all four.

I really really hate myself for getting FOUR replacements, but I think it’s more Apple’s problem, not mine. I think it may be worth posting on this forum since the more widespread it is, the more likely Apple will fix it. Maybe it’s worth it going through all these defects so other customers don’t have to experience it.

Ignore what I said, I apologize - these things aren't cheap and Apple is doing the right thing by letting you get the device that works for you. Apple will use the ones you sent back as refurbs so it is not going to waste. I see a growth of some unreasonable posts and I just assumed. My bad.

Yeah, I think I've seen another thread about this - they have a video where you are supposed to turn up your brightness and everything.

I use my iPad at 20-30% brightness so it's close to what you have.

I prefer dark mode too so my wallpaper is usually black, apps with dark mode on, so any problems with the light would bother me.

Thanks for posting your experience here.

I don’t know about Apple, but some retailers have repackaging machines in back. Any chance your getting the same one back?
I heard it’s illegal for Apple to sell open box items and repackage them as new, but it really does feel like I’m getting the same device.

I've been using (and loving) the new Air extensively since it released last week. I have not noticed any defects, including light bleed. I also don't go out of my way to create conditions to find it, because it's not really a problem if I have to try to make it happen. So I can't swear that mine doesn't have it, I've just never seen it.

Yes im the same, i have not seen any defects on my air 4 screen thankfully. I do think that it has less contrast than my ipad air 3 screen though, but thats another matter.

I return my first unit due to very noticeable bleed, second unit is a lot better so I’m keeping it. They all seem to have a pinch spot 1/3 up the right hand side in portrait but only just visible at max brightness.

That is an interesting observation/statement -- Mine has a very small area where you described, but only at 100% brightness in a dark room, which does not represent normal viewing conditions. During normal use, I think that the screen looks great. I'm loving the new device (came from an iPad Mini).

I would just get my money back if I were you. Either you’re the unluckiest person or the current manufacturing tolerance/QC is unacceptable to you.

This is how a normal sane person would behave. Kudos.

Same here. My Rose Gold Air is fine.

I respect that defects occur (Believe me, if there are defects I will return). Glad that Apple is giving the OP a chance to exchange. Hope you find a good Air OP.

Yet, nobody’s posted pictures of “no light bleed”.
Apparently the photos exaggerate the issue. Under normal circumstances most people won’t see it to such an extent with the naked eye, or at all.

I checked mine and see nothing of the sort that others have been complaining about. Thankful that I either got lucky or I’m just not as picky as certain people on this forum.

I suggest that people take these criticisms with a grain of salt, and try not to materialize problems for themselves.

Apple has produced another great iPad. So glad I got it. Hope many others can enjoy it too.

This. Yes at the end of the day, don’t go looking for issues, the comments are right.

But I just wanted to see pictures of a bleed-free Air, and that doesn’t seem to exist.

I recommend holding on to it, and if it gets fixed in the near future you can return it then for a new device. It seems like you’ll continue to end up with the same problem. I can vouch that the Air is a great device otherwise and the bleed is not something to worry about so much.

I don’t think OP’s claims are far fetched, and they’re not the first person to participate in Apple’s screen lottery.

Comparing returning a device with people not wearing masks is uncalled for and that person doesn’t understand the severity of this virus. OP is not going to kill anyone by returning an iPad. I’m sorry people are calling you insane for wanting to get a device free of problems. It’s your money and as the consumer you have the right.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm getting one. Hopefully, the light bleed is not too bad. We'll see...

Ah, if only this were true. This was my wish on the ‘unresponsive iPad touchscreen issue” as well, but it’s apparently not been fixed, despite every Pro iPad generation being affected for the last 3 years.
