See, while I rely on my iPhone as my go to device and the one that I choose not to do without, I like to try different platforms, and because I have three lines run three devices concurrently on the network and one on wifi. So I can see real world, real time, how each platform behaves. My experience with Samsung devices is that they are in fact great on paper, but past the first update, they become unusable.
My Note 4 started out as a beast and is now unusable. It freezes every four days or so, to where I have to remove the case and do a battery pull because the screen is completely frozen and the power button won't work. Really, a BATTERY PULL????? What is it, a BlackBerry?!!?? Sheer trash. Oh, FB! constant freezes and crashes. Reboots. Google app freezes. The only thing that works is Google Now, but then with the device becoming completely unresponsive every few days, Google Now is rendered useless. Battery life???? Overnight drain from 100 to 70%, where when I first got it, I could go a whole day. Camera???? So laggy that I miss shots outside, with excellent ligthing. It takes sooooooo long to focus that if I try to use it to capture a child or an animal who's in movement, it's futile. The shot is gone. Take yesterday morning....with flash on, in bed, my puppy was on her back looking at me with a very silly upside down grin and I tried to take her picture; the camera took so long to focus, with lights on and flash on, that I missed the shot. Utterly useles. But ooooooooo on paper the device outspecs my iPhone. It's a beast, on paper. It was a beast, when I got it on release day. Come Lollipop, it became trash. And the Android sites would tell me I was imagining it. Had to remind them of the problems people were experiencing and posting on their very own site.
What the Android and Samsung acolytes forget is that iPhone has never been in a spec race. They tout specs when in reality the devices become trash. Example - my agency rolled out SGS5 and iPhone 6 devices to staff. I chose the SGS5 because of the water proofing and the user replaceable battery (this was before the Lollipop rollout.) As soon as Lollipop rolled out and I upgraded my OS, it started to drop Good Tech, which was our MDM solution. I went and pitched a fit and got an early upgrade to the iPhone. As soon as my colleagues knew that they could do that, a steady stream went to get their SGS5s replaced. The dissatisfaction was so pervasive that my agency won't roll out Samsung devices when this upgrade cycle ends.
Yah....specs are only important to people who must measure everything....forget as to whether it's usable.
