What is the iPhone 4 moment? The first actual redesign of the iPhone? Similar to the actual initial launch moment? I mean a product will only have one launch and one 1st redesign moment. When down the line everyone has these devices lying around and they are essentially taken for granted how could anything about that product live up to the firsts?I think the iPhone 7 will be another iterative release.
It is becoming increasingly clear, and it pains me immensely to type this, that Apple under Tim Cook is rapidly losing it. I don't think they have that incredible visionary approach to product that they did under Steve and have become another big corporation cynically raking in as much profit as possible while trading on a brand name.
Tim is a bean-counter, not a product man. And you've got cretins like Eddie Cue running important aspects of their services into the ground.
Not holding out my hopes, but maybe they will surprise us all with another iPhone 4 moment?

That sounds like a great talking point.A version that sets a new standard in the market through a unique and compelling blend of striking design, new and innovative features and software breakthroughs that leave rivals playing catch-up.
So in your words what would constitute that?A version that sets a new standard in the market through a unique and compelling blend of striking design, new and innovative features and software breakthroughs that leave rivals playing catch-up.
As in random guesses and rumors? Certainly something to actually go by.The latest leaks seem to validate this thread. All the iPhone 7 has is a thinner body, dual speakers and no antenna markers and a flush camera.Even the design and bezels along with the display are same.Quite possibly this wouldn't even deserve a "s" update tag.Theres so many ways to improve the iPhone yet Apple seems to be resting on its laurels. If there is no design changes, there's not gonna be much incentive to upgrade and lower sharp decline in sales is a gurantee
The information which comes from Kuo Ming were spot on for the 6S.Lets be real here these are all planned leaks. Not many rumors of the 6S were untrue either. There is no guesswork here just information from various sourcesAs in random guesses and rumors? Certainly something to actually go by.
So speculation to try to come up with something to support speculation. Got it.The information which comes from Kuo Ming were spot on for the 6S.Lets be real here these are all planned leaks. Not many rumors of the 6S were untrue either. There is no guesswork here just information from various sources

If its only thinner with no antenna lines and the proverbial straw being no headphone jack?Doubt itNope. iPhone 7 is going to be another record setter, imo.
Well neither of us has a crystal ball. Except to say, every release over the last few years has been blockbuster. And I don't expect this to be different. If its only thinner with no antenna lines and the proverbial straw being no headphone jack?Doubt it

And I'm not sure how you know exactly what will be the entire picture. The 6s case was leaked before the release, but nobody expected the innovations in the phone to redefine what an "S" release meant and capture the Anandtech gold award. Custom controllers, new SOC, best in class camera, skin tone flash from front screen, always on hey siri, and surprise waterproofing that apple didn't even announce.
Remember "the only things changed is: everything". How true.
The problem with this thread, and this forum overall, is that you can't criticise Apple products without being told to go to Android, etc..
However, I'm not pleased with the overall direction Apple has taken over the last few years. As I've expressed in other threads, Apple no longer puts user experience at the core of its design philosophy. It used to be a company that would release simple, easy to use, bug free (mostly), beautifully designed products with high build quality. Slowly, but surely, over the last few years, these things don't seem to be as important as cramming in new features to stay competitive, regardless of how well they work or don't work, changing (and removing) things for the sake of marketing and sales, flooding the market with an extremely complicated line up of products, holding features away from lower models to push sales of top tier models.
iCloud Services, Photos, and Apple Music all feel like they are still in Beta. Syncing across multiple devices is mostly a nightmare. iOS has become a ugly, bloated, buggy unintuitive mess. Features introduced that contradict others or simply don't work properly at all. Hardware and software design decisions that are devising the user base. Over priced new products like the iPad Pro and Apple Watch.
It feels like the culture at Apple has significantly changed, and it feels like they take their place in the market for granted.
The market is now primed for another Steve Jobs like character to come in and disrupt these industries with simple, well designed and easy to use products - just like Apple did a few years back.
It's crazy to think that the things Microsoft are doing in 2016 (with Xbox, Surface and Windows 10) seem to be much more aligned to market and consumer needs than what Apple are doing, not to mention more exciting.
Let's be clear, YOU found the 6s underwhelming, the 74 million that bought the 6s (not to mention the Anandtech gold award) voted with their wallets. And while you are entitled your opinion, that really isn't the way it is viewed based on sales. Unless you want to throw pejoratives into the mix and try to establish only "isheep" really bought into the 6s. Basically according to your logic the only phone since the introduction of the iphone that has a substantial array of improvements is the 5s; that phone was a game changer. All others, and don't get me wrong, we're nice upgrades. The iPhone 6S was kinda underwhelming, even for an "S" release. The 4S gave us Siri, that was huge and the 5S gave us Touch ID which was a pretty significant upgrade for the home button but what did the 6S give us? Live Photos and 3D Touch? Those seem like the same type of novelty features that Apple users would rip on Samsung for doing and call them "novelties" but it suddenly becomes cool and "groundbreaking" once Apple does it.
Not saying the 6S is a bad phone or anything, the camera and processor upgrades were definitely welcomed but it was overall meh, nothing here that you didn't already see. Knowing you, you will most likely cite the sales figures to attempt to prove your point but the iPhone 6S was a solid but predictable release all in all.

I agree with all lot of what you said. Apple fans have every right to criticize Apple where they deserve to be. Not doing so feeds into the "iSheep" or "iFanboy" stereotype that many Apple haters believe. Accepting and trying to justify everything that Apple does no matter what just enables Apple to continue producing half-baked products and services because they'll assume that you'll buy their stuff no matter what. Guys, it's perfectly fine to criticize Apple and hold them up to the same kind of standards Steve would.
Hardware is still Apple's strong suit but the overall quality of iOS has definitely declined in both design and performance and I think it's painfully obvious that the uncalled-for termination of Scott Forstall has had negative impacts on their software quality.
Apple has definitely taken its status for granted, which is why the quality of their products and services have declined. They have nothing left to prove, they know the masses will eat up whatever they dish out. That type of arrogance is why certain companies lose their edge and diminish in popularity over time.
Apple doesn't disrupt different product categories like they used to, they play catch-up with their "me too" products that bring nothing new or exciting, just an Apple logo slapped on the back.
The iPad Pro felt unnecessary and bring absolutely nothing new to the table. The Apple Watch does not even deserve its own category as long it remains dependent on the iPhone to function. The overall product lineup has become quite bloated in recent years, the same exact thing Jobs sought to fix when he returned in 1996. I do believe Apple is becoming its 90s incarnation once again, this time with money.
Apple is now becoming the Microsoft of the 2000s just as Microsoft is becoming the Apple of the 2000s. It's amazing how the tables have turned and since Steve Ballmer left, MS has been on a roll. The Surface Pro absolutely crushes the iPad Pro, it's amazing how much better MS is at designing a tablet-based UI. I'm also an Xbox Guy, so when it comes to console gaming, I definitely have a soft spot for Microsoft. Plus they are so much better at online services, I think Xbox Live speaks for itself.
We need a CEO with genuine passion and a vision like Jobs, Cook is just not that guy. Cook is a supply chain master and nobody doubts that but at the end of the day, he's your average bean-counting CEO with little to no involvement in the actual creative process like Jobs was. I would say Elon Musk is a visionary, in a similar vein to Jobs. I mean, Apple is now the one playing catch up to Tesla with an electric car project that might not even see the light of day.
Let's be clear, YOU found the 6s underwhelming, the 74 million that bought the 6s (not to mention the Anandtech gold award) voted with their wallets. And while you are entitled your opinion, that really isn't the way it is viewed based on sales. Apple is a big company now and headed in a different direction than the past. Maybe there is a iphone 7 in your future, or maybe not. Either way, TC now is heading the ship and with billions and billions of cash reserves the not so secret/very secretive electric car project is underway. I'm sure when it comes to fruition, it's going to be purely apple in nature. If you own some apple voting stock, now is the time to exercise it.
So basically you're just repeating an opinion. The only fact that totally disassembles your tirade is sales. That's immutable, 74 million. That's a lot of voting with wallets. And voting for Timmy as well. As an aside, which you totally ignored, which is why we're on the second go around; the 5s was a game changer and disrupted the smart phone category.Again, you cite the sales as I predicted you would. Sure the 6S sold a lot and got favorable reviews from the press (then again, when have they not?) but the thing is, the 6S was not that exciting of an upgrade, even as an "s" release. Obviously the number releases are meant to be more exciting and refreshing but, the 4S and 5S were much more interesting as incremental upgrades to the iPhone. It was a moderately refined 6 and that in itself is fine but stop trying to overhype every little thing Apple releases as groundbreaking and revolutionary.
Also, you took my "iSheep" comments completely out of context. I said that when hardcore fans try to praise and justify everything that Apple does, they feed into that particular stereotype people have of Apple fanatics. No offense to you in any way, but you definitely fall into that group. It's perfectly fine to criticize Apple and it couldn't be a better time to do so.
Yeah I get that you love Tim Cook and attempt to equate him to Jobs, but the guy is just coasting on the wave of success that Jobs created. With Jobs, Apple had a very focused vision on what it wanted to do and actually took the time to perfect it. Cook is way more profit-driven and is more obsessed with entering (but not disrupting) every category or industry just for the sake of it.
Aren't you always harping about how throwing hardware against the wall is not innovation?BTW camera has already fallen down the ranks in DX0mark testing. The title for the best camera is currently with the S7.Front screen flash has already existed on Androids for years.Always on OK Google is present on a Galaxy S3 a 5 year old flagship. It took 4 generations before Apple caught up to Android on this one. Also,it's not waterproof as it's not iP68 certifiedWell neither of us has a crystal ball. Since you keep on harping on sales, explain this.Samsung has the worst Android skin in Android universe,Samsung also has the worst software update policy in the industry. The HTC and Google Nexus have similar hardware quality and none of these shortcomings yet they have a fraction of Samsung's sales and are suffering losses with Samsung being the only profitable manufacturerSo basically you're just repeating an opinion. I still prefer the screen and camera of the 6s over the 7 and I'll vote again with my wallet. Bye the bye, the 6s is still the speed King, shows how good Apple hardware is.Aren't you always harping about how throwing hardware against the wall is not innovation?BTW camera has already fallen down the ranks in DX0mark testing. The title for the best camera is currently with the S7.Front screen flash has already existed on Androids for years.Always on OK Google is present on a Galaxy S3 a 5 year old flagship. It took 4 generations before Apple caught up to Android on this one. Also,it's not waterproof as it's not iP68 certified
PS-Remember Tim Cook's disastrous photo at the Super Bowl?I do
Because samsungs target market values any little scraps of hardware that is new and not user experience?Since you keep on harping on sales, explain this.Samsung has the worst Android skin in Android universe,Samsung also has the worst software update policy in the industry. The HTC and Google Nexus have similar hardware quality and none of these shortcomings yet they have a fraction of Samsung's sales and are suffering losses with Samsung being the only profitable manufacturer

The iPhone 4 was less a disruption than the 5s. 5s was revolutionary, 4 was evolutionary. Touch ID was revolutionary. What about the 5S disrupted the smart phone industry? Fingerprint scanners had already started to become a thing before it was released. Yes, it was a significant upgrade for the iPhone but not revolutionary. I would say the 4/4S were the last real disruptions made by Apple when it comes to the smartphone category.
I still prefer the screen and camera of the 6s over the 7 and I'll vote again with my wallet. Bye the bye, the 6s is still the speed King, shows how good Apple hardware is.
It's only my opinion as you have certainly exercised the right the voice yours.I am sorry but you are in pure denial of facts .
The Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge has the best smartphone display on the planet, period.

The 750P display of the iPhone is not in the same league as much as I am sorry to say this being an owner of an iPhone 6 myself
As far as camera goes, the Galaxy S7's camera is so good it actually made DSLR pics look BAD

Here is an unbiased test of the S7 wrecking the iPhone 6s in the camera department

So in your opinion the 750 IPS 3D Touch display is superior to the WQHD OLED Edge display of the S7 which supports VR?Alrighty thenIt's only my opinion as you have certainly exercised the right the voice yours.
