So there’s no way to order both the mini and 12 pro and get both at the same time to decide which to keep. If you wait till the mini is available to order the 12 pro will be out of stock and your 2 wk turn around will have expired.

Basically. I am torn between the 12 Pro and the Mini, as well. I’m going to go ahead and pre-order the 12 Pro and give it a shot first. I plan to get my hands on a display model 12 Mini on Friday or Saturday, too. I’ll just have to make my decision before the Mini is ready for sale.

Bet those who got a SE are spewing, it was just a pumped up iP6 nothing like the SE1/2. Mini is the real SE replacement.

I have the X since day one and I feel like this size is already too big and too heavy. The regular size is even more bigger now with 12 and 12 Pro. I wanted to see and test it, but I'd probably preorder, because I cannot risk waiting couple more weeks. The only thing left is to decide between Black/Blue and 128/256GB.

My stepdad just got an SE 2, but since his previous phone was a 6S, I thought he still had the 6S! It looks exactly like one.

I never understood why Apple needs USB-C. Are you gonna plug your monitor into your phone? It's still reversable just like Lightning so it's a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

Everything is moving to usb-c. I don't like the problems i've had with lightning (my house is a wasteland of nearly dead lightning to usb-A cables). I hate how near impossible it is to remove a lightning cable end from the iphone one handed, arghhhhhhh! I have many usb-c to usb-c cables. My macbook pro has 4 ports of which 2 or 3 are always available. usb-c is the future that's almost here.

my main problem with usb c for the phone connection is it seems like a less secure connection than lightning. I have usb c on my MacBook Pro and they always seem wobbly. The cable end is hollow so dirt or dust could get lodged inside the cable. I often leave a lightning cable in my car and the end tends to end up on the passenger floor under somebody's foot when I'm not using it. I could imagine a usb c cable getting destroyed this way, filled with sand or dirt. The inside of the lightning jack on the iPhone is easy to clean with a toothpick, and the lightning end of the charging cable is solid so it's also easy to clean and quite durable. I can hang a charging iPhone by its lightning cable and it won't disconnect easily. There is no play in the connection, it feels rock solid. I like lightning. I also like the move to the new usb c at the other end - I don't need an adapter to plug my iPhone into my computer anymore.

The thing that bugs me, is that they stopped including the charging brick, assuming people already have them, but we already have usb A charging bricks, not usb c! Come on, apple.

Yes. It doesnt make sense when they say we have the brick already and they include usb c cable. I don’t have usb c brick.
Yeah but the other bricks/cables you have with USB-A work, and they assume people already have those. USB-C on the cable gives the ability to plug into MacBooks and iPads for charging.

it pains me to say i waited and waited for this, but for me it was a generation too late. i picked up an iPhone 11 Pro last year after having an OG SE for years. i love the form factor of the new mini and cant wait to see one in person, but now at this point there's no reason to get rid of my 11 Pro
I think you may need to turn in your MacRumors card after this statement.

Can you post your review here about your hands on with the mini?
I'd be curious to hear your review, maybe you could quote this here so I can read it.
Thanks. I'm also torn and just don't know if I want to order the 12 Pro tomorrow (blue one it will most likely sell out) or wait for the mini. I want the form factor of the mini but I want the camera of the 12 pro but not crazy about a larger iPhone. I even cut a piece of cardboard to the exact specs of the 12 pro just to see how it's gonna fit in my pocket and hand. lol

There is no need to disable 5G. The iPhone will only use 5G when it is needed. Otherwise, it is 4G. LTE usage.

To be more specific, iPhone 12 5G is a real smart device, when iPhone will notice you are browsing really fast and there's a Police car around it will automatically shift speed from 5G to 4G LTE. That way you won't be detained and be able to charge your iPhone on time hence longer battery life.

Good luck. The Mini won’t be on display anywhere until the day of release, as is the case with every iPhone release.

The near-perfect phone for me, in for 2 (my wife and I). Perfection: usb-c port (I know, I'm dreamin')

i think the best thing would be to remove the charging port altogether and give this space to some other component. For me wireless charging is the best way to charge.

Millions of folks use wired CarPlay, so no thanks.

I am really sorry then you will need to upgrade your car soon. Either keep the iPhone without charging port or current car.😆 Look we should have an iPhone inside which has a battery-like component which charges itself when provided current through waves. That's the future we should look for my friend. Forget USB-C.

Especially without having a standard, even USB-C to USB-C can end in horror. I would bet if I plugged the USB-C cable from my MacBook Pro into one of my more modern phones that charge with USB-C, it would fry the darned thing, because the voltage from the MacBook's power supply is well over 5 VDC.

I personally don't see the point. I don't really plan on buying any accessories needing it, and Micro-USB works perfectly fine for all my stuff, only my Mac uses USB-C (I keep the modern phones as backups in a closet--in case 3G really does shut down or my older phones stop being supported, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there). I'd be happy with Magsafe if it still existed myself.

Cryates is right, you won’t be able to see an iPhone 12 mini in person until the day of release (November 16, was it?). Not this Friday, not on Nov 6 when preordering starts but only on the day it’s actually ready to buy. This has been the standard Apple MO for the last decade at least.

I too am undecided but I am leaning toward the 12 Pro 256GB, in silver, and barring a prophecy dream tonight I am going to preorder it tomorrow morning.

I prefer the size of the mini, for sure, and I don’t ever do any reading or movie watching on my phone. To me the phone is three things only:
1) a wife and friends texting machine
2) an iPod
3) a camera (the only camera I own)

Unfortunately, the Mini is sufficiently worse than the Pro at task #3 to justify putting up with the larger form factor.
Or at least, the Apple marketing department has succeeded in making me believe as much....

Tough decision between 12 Mini and 12 Pro for me. I really think the form factor of the Mini is better for my hands, but if I keep this phone for 2-3 years and use it for my primary camera nowadays on trips, it swayed me to Pro.

I’m back in the mini camp.
Was going to get the 12 pro, but I’m coming from the 11 pro, and at the end of the day, I don’t want a bigger phone.

Yeah, I might leave some battery life and some camera upgrades on the table, but even if I hate it, I’m a yearly upgrader and confident I can live with any device for a year.

There is another thing to consider about the mini, if your coming from a 6s like me.
The width of my 6s is 2.64 inches
The width of the mini is 2.53 inches.

I read a lot of articles on my 6s throughout the work day (away from home) and going down on the width for the mini is going to make reading a bit more difficult. I've been so use to my 6s for 5 yrs that I don't want to go with a smaller width phone and I really want better battery life. I really think the 12 pro is a better fit for me, it's not that much larger footprint than my 6s. The 12 pro also seems like a much nicer upgrade from my 6s.
