Before the event I was 100% the mini, though the blue colour of the Pro made me waver slightly. I think if they made a rose gold one I would have.

I’m glad the mini has the same OLED screen and the smaller form factor is more appealing then the improvements of the Pro for me.

I do like the idea of a bigger sensor and slightly longer Tele of the Pro Max, but not willing to get a much bigger phone for.

Bring on November!

debating between that and the 11 pro. I'm on an 8 now so seems like a decent step up. I prefer a smaller phone, but my eyes are starting to go so might pick the 11 due to screen size and extra battery.

I have the 11 Pro right now and am thinking to upgrade to the 12 Mini. While I love the 11 Pro and will miss the telephoto lens, the smaller form factor and weight will be nice. For video, I much prefer a laptop or a full size TV, so screen size and battery life is not an issue.

I remember a while ago, when there was speculation about the iPhone SE 2, then someone wanted an iPhone with the old iPhone 5 design, but with FaceID, edge to edge OLED screen, better camera, etc. I loved the idea, and has done so ever since. Today came the iPhone 12 Mini, and it is exactly as it was described at the time.

There is no doubt I am buying a Mini.

Am not afraid of it getting too small. I use my iPhone as a phone, for messaging, podcast, mail, internet searches, Apple Pay and that's it. I do not play games on my iPhone, I do not watch movies on my iPhone. I need to have a handy mobile when I'm on the go. I have a nice iPad that can be used for all those "couch" things, like playing and watching movies. That's the iPad's job. The iPhone has another job.

iPhone 12 Mini, 64GB in Black, for me.

i want his elder brother, even though iphone 5s has 4 inch display but still its so easily usable. iPhone 12 mini would be treat to use. I am really surprised to see it has so many new features similar to iphone pro like super retina xdr display, 5g, A14 chip, ceramic shield, magsafe & more.

I am with you. Especially now that I am working from home, my iPhone is taking a back seat to my Apple TV for entertainment and iMac for productivity.

We sold our 11 Pro's a few weeks ago and upgraded to the SE2 in preparation for the 12 mini. It's going to be really fun to get a phone smaller than the SE but with a larger screen! We can't wait!

If I buy any iPhone this year it will be the mini. I currently have an 11 Pro Max that is sitting around not being used since I switched to a Note 20 Ultra.

There are times that feels way too big and I feel like a nice compact phone would be a good change of pace.

I know it is silly, I just don't know how I can go back from 120Hz though. People say "oh scrolling matters that much to you"... well yeah. I'm willing to bet most of us spend more time scrolling or watching animations on our phones than pretty much anything else.
So was that just a pitch for 120hz? We get it

Do you think Apple is lying about battery life?

Coming from an X, the battery life is going to be better on the Mini, at least in terms of offline video playback hours. Audio playback hours, the mini has 10 less hours than the X. And the X had great battery life for me, 3 years in.

I'm in the same boat. I have the X and considering the mini or the 12 pro.

I had an Original iPhone, then an iPhone 3G, then iPhone 4, iPhone 6 and iPhone X. Basically every iteration of design, I’ve followed, each from release day. The screen size has been increasing on me year by year, eventually surpassing the point of comfort. This year I will upgrade, because it’s a new design year and because it’s been 3 years on the iPhone X. I just got preapproved for the 12 Pro. I am tempted by the Mini, though. It feels like it’s just inertia that pushed screen sizes so far out...

If mini had zoom instead of ultra-wide (which I rarely use), it would be a no-brainer

I agree. Basically the only thing I need my iPhone for these days is the camera. The S6 watch handles outdoors exercise tracking, Apple Pay, and most notifications. The iPad Pro handles web browsing, video, etc.
All the iPhone has to do for me is texting and camera — and I’d want it to be the best camera short of a standalone.

5G is going to cook that battery.

To me, that’s irrelevant. I am mostly on WiFi, and when not, I’m not going to be watching videos or doing anything that will trigger the 5G radio. if there is an option to turn 5G off altogether I’ll do that on day one, regardless of whether I buy the 12 Pro or the 12 Mini...

I have the watch too, but use Spotify and they still don't have watch music downloads. Running with the 11 Pro on an armband is just ridiculous, but I still do it sometimes. The Mini will be so much more comfortable. I also exclusively use a phone as my cycling computer and this will be more compact on the handlebars with the quad lock mount.

I with you on this, same reasons.

64GB, Blue for me.

I was, but 5G is going to run train on that battery capacity.
I'm guessing you missed the event. It has a feature that only turns on 5G when needed. This is how they were able to add 5G to phones other than the largest size. Don't worry unless you're in a football stadium or downtown by the skyscrapers in a major city you won't get mm wave 5G
