The lack of stainless steel frame and the battery life are the only two things making me go back and forth.

I was hoping that the body of the iPhone 12 Pro would be smaller than the iPhone 11. 6.1” feels pretty big for my hands. I looked at the dimensions, and it appears that the iPhone 12 Pro is indeed wider and taller than the iPhone 11 Pro. So, it seems like the iPhone 12 mini is the best size for me. I’m just scared that 5G will destroy that battery size, once it becomes more widespread. I just got a new battery in my iPhone X because the old one swelled, and even with a new battery, I don’t feel like battery life is close to great on it.

I think in terms of value, the Mini is the one to beat this year. Every single feature of the 12 but at a lower price, and with a far more manageable size than 6.1”. I like the size of my 11 Pro at 5.8” but the Max size is too large, so I’m loathe to go larger than 5.8”. I also love the idea of a lighter phone, while the screen size on my 11 Pro is good, it is heavier than I’d like.

So, given the options, I can either keep my Pro, or get a Mini. At the moment I’m leaning towards the Mini. Hopefully reviews will come out before the pre-order period.

Really wish there were a way to get a hands on before pre-order.

I was very excited for the mini, but battery life & storage are holding me back. I currently have 38gb or so left of my 256gb iPhone X. I like to keep everything as local as I can - I don’t want to store stuff mainly in the cloud or risk losing an iTunes Store purchase because it’s no longer available to buy & therefore redownload. I replaced my X battery just over a year ago & it’s at 89% health, so I’d like a bigger battery too. 6.1 inches is too big for me, sometimes I struggle to hold my X.

Wow.. I am so excited. Remember the good ol iPhone 4/5 days. It also reminds me of the apple Steve built & the apple products he built I fell in love with. Also after using large phones & the difficulty of 1 handed use, fitting into pockets, I am seriously considering buying this phone.

Disappointed to see all OLED lineup. Apple as an industry leader should look into the problem of PWM flicker. I bet it will go down in the history as a display tech with health issues. As for me, it affects me to such a level that I lose balance sometimes. Now that I stop using my phone now and rely completely on my ipad for reading purpose, I am back to normal days without headache and nausea.

I'm a big fan of the Original SE, so I've been craving an updated "small phone". I'm bummed about the 12-mini being less capable from a photography perspective compared to the Pro models, but I'm still pretty set on ordering the mini as soon as pre-orders open up.

I have an X, I'd get the Mini in a heartbeat if it had the telephoto lens. I use that all the time on my X. I may still get it but causes me pause.

Seriously! What is the deal with the smaller devices being left out of the camera lineup. This reminds me of the 7/7+ and 8/8+ Xs/Xs Max. This summer I traded in my iPhone 11 for an 11 Pro because I couldn’t stand the lack of a zoom lens. I found that not only did it take better pictures, the pictures were much more pleasing to the eye on its higher-quality display. I don’t know about the mini. Size wise, I am sold. The camera array and screen may prove too wanting for me to upgrade.

Convenient to keep in a pocket. Miserable to look at with eyeballs older than 13 years old.

Comparing my iPhone 4s and 11 Pro, the reading experience is the same (fonts are the same size). There's just less screen. But maybe that's what you meant (smaller videos, photos, etc.).

If I didn't have an 11 Pro that will last another 3 years or so, I would definitely consider the 12 mini. I've always said that if Apple made a bezel-less iPhone 4-sized phone, I'd buy it! I think when I hold a 12 mini I'll be immediately tempted.

Copping the mini. Love the way my SE work phone feels in my hand compared to my XR. Can’t wait.
Yeah my old se 1 still gets an outing. Such a great little device and even runs iOS 14.

5G is going to cook that battery.
There were stories that iPhone will intelligently only use 5g at the point it makes a difference, so won’t be permanently sending/receiving everything at that wavelength but will use 4g instead to save power drain. I was too keen to not skip through the keynote at high speed so maybe they mentioned...

Blue Mini for me. I have the 11 now. I used to always go with the plus sized phones but I do a lot of one handed texting now and I am tired of doing that on the 11. Can’t wait for a smaller screen and easier one handed typing.
I cannot decide on the color!!!
I might have to get white and blue.

I think most of us will be lucky to ever see a 5G symbol come up on our phones within the next year to 18 months anyway.

Really torn between the mini and Pro. On the one hand, I love the idea of a smaller, lighter (significantly - 2 ounces) and cheaper (significantly - $300) phone but I do use the zoom on my 11 Pro and it sounds like LiDAR will help portraits (only in Night Mode, though?). If mini had zoom instead of ultra-wide (which I rarely use), it would be a no-brainer

Same. It drives me cuckoo-bananas that they switched from a tele to an ultra-wide lens for the non-Pro phones last year. I’m about 99% certain that was meant to drive photography people to the Pro line, and about 99% certain that it turned out to be a pretty successful business strategy. (Tele is the more useful of the two for most photogs, no contest.)

So between that and the battery life (and the slightly fatter looking notch), the Mini ain’t without its share of compromises. But those could be a small price to pay for an iPhone that doesn’t feel like a Tolstoy novel in your pocket.

Me.

iPhones should be small.

Those who needs big iPhones should get the iPads.

It's sad that we need a James Bond music to show a "small" phone.

15 years ago, every company was fighting to get a smaller, thinner one.

Now all those visions are gone.

Lol james bond music to show small phone. Nice observation!👍😆

I am this getting this 5GE symbol since last year. Even though my phone is not fully 5G supported. It has some aspects of 5G in it, still speed is good in my city. But when I go to nearby city like 15 minutes away then internet becomes super fast. Sometimes feels like faster than my home wifi which is 100/100, I am on att. I think once I insert this phone's sim into iphone 12 it will show 5G symbol and it will be faster in my city as well.
