I am not trying to be a hater with this post so please don’t attack me...but I think many are a little deluded in thinking this will be the perfect 1 handed phone with 0 shimmying/shifting in the hand as done in the slightly larger models like the 11/12/Pros.

Below are posts from 2012 when the iPhone 5 came out. Even back then people thought it was a little too tall for perfect one handed use despite being smaller than the mini.

I just read this thread and it seems people are going into this expecting this to be the perfect one handed device. You will still have to do the same in hand readjustment, albeit a lot less than with the larger phones.

I agree. I already know that a lot of the readjusting has to do with the height of the phone. You still have to reach to get to the top. But one thing I noticed is that it’s easier to shimmy with a lighter phone. When I messed around with the 12 today that’s what I noticed. It was much easier to maneuver than the pro.

I also tried the SE and it was easier for one handed use simply because the screen was smaller even though the body size is larger than the new mini.

So I definitely won’t trick myself into thinking the mini will be perfect. It’s just got a lot going for it compare to the other options.

Good point. It really is all relative. I remember thinking my iPhone 6 was enormous when I first got it. The iPhone X was bigger, but it wasn’t as big a shock. Both times, I adjusted perfectly to it. It was just new. Now, the iPhone 6s that my wife has feels tiny to me... I really think people need to give it more than 1-2 days to make a decision. I plan to give my pro until the last day before the return periods ends.

Another point I’ve seen is the only time you are ‘usually’ needing one handed use, is when you probably shouldn’t be typing. Again not hating as I’m getting the mini for the weight, but I think the one handed angle is being overstated as it’s been a complaint since the 5.

The height of the phone is not really a problem for me, because of the "reachability" feature.

But there is no such feature if i can't reach the other side of the phone comfortably.
And i remember that i could do it much better on the iPhone 7 than the X, so the Mini should be even better.

Apologies if there are any users who actually only have 1 hand. I don’t mean to discourage you. I hope you enjoy the mini! Those of us with 2 hands maybe are exaggerating how important this so called 1 handed use really is when it’s kind of a myth

The 12 mini is the phone I was waiting for last year. My 1st gen SE gave up; the 8 didn't really do it for me and the XR was just too big. So I moved away from Apple and got the Samsung S10e, which I love. The 12 mini looks fantastic but I just don't have the desire to move back to Apple, and it's more than what I would want to spend, so I'll probably look at Samsung/Pixel when the time comes to change this one. I do think it's the most exciting phone Apple has released in years, though.
I had iphone 7 but screen was small for me with time and I didn't find something similar in size and weight in apple so I went with Samsung S8 a few months ago and I'm staying here love it, but in the right moment I would have changed to a 12 mini for sure is the perfect phone small size and all screen

You only have to get your thumb about 1/2" above the bottom of the phone to use the 5/SE1 home button. With Face ID, you have to get pretty close to the bottom of the phone to "swipe up." I think with the Mini I'd be scootching up and down between swiping down for the control center and swiping up for home.

Not exactly a myth but reality, especially those who are multitasking. For example, carrying a drink, a bag, a child, etc with one hand and needing to use the phone on the other

I only wish the cameras didn't stick out.
The phone doesn't lay flat on my desk.
I love the feeling of putting the phone down on smooth surface and the air cushioning the fall. I often put the phone down on its face for that reason.
Flush camera lenses without making the phone thicker would be an innovation.
Do you think it will ever happen?

If they achieve under the screen cameras it can happen. Isn’t the ultimate goal to make it one smooth flat piece of transparent glass

Old phones used to be flat.
It would be nice if the cameras were under the glass. But that would be even more challenging than what I am asking for.

People are stating they are unhappy with the size of 12 pro compared to the 11 pro, but what about compared to regular 11?
I have wanted the mini, but am interested in the extras the pro has to offer- and as long as 12 pro is not bigger than my regular 11, I’d be happy. (Though I’m still intrigued by the mini)

My 12 is bigger than my XS. Isn't your 11 the same size as my XS? But 12 is much lighter than XS.
XS feels like it is made of lead.

I have never used an iPhone 11, but the 12 and 12 Pro have smaller dimensions than it.

I don’t understand your weight concern. Bugs (insects) can usually carry 5 - 10 times their body weight.
Lol so if the iPhone 15 weighs 5lbs, surely you’d be ok with that then? Weight is purely subjective but your analogy makes no sense in this context

Eh, you could argue the focus shouldn't be on the phone in most of those situations, but rather the child, road when carrying shopping bag etc etc

I’m not buying a mini for one handed use. I have an 8 now and I never use it one handed. I’m more concerned with weight and how it fits in my pocket.
Tell that to the many others in this thread who seem to think it's the answer to one Handed use. I agree with that dictate guys original post.
