So many in here are so defensive over the mini. Why is it so hard to accept it might not be the oh so perfect device in regard to battery and one handed use?

I don’t think when people say “one handed use” they mean that they’ll only be using the phone with one hand.

If I’m walking my dog and I receive a text I like to be able to quickly reply using one hand or if I want to change the song I’m listening to I want to use one hand. I do that now with the 11 Pro but the 12 mini will be much easier.

Eh, you could argue the focus shouldn't be on the phone in most of those situations, but rather the child, road when carrying shopping bag etc etc
So if someone is shopping for a small subcompact car for the ease of downtown street parking, you would tell them to blame the city for not having enough parking spaces instead and tell them to go buy a large SUV? What is wrong with you?

It probably won't be perfect. But it will be closest to perfect than any other iPhone offered this year.

iʻve been using the 12 pro case-less the past few days. itʻs a nice size, but now i want to go to the mini. the cameras donʻt mean that much to me...the two cameras are more than enough to take pics of my kids. dSLR for super important times. the most important consideration will be how long the battery lasts. if itʻs close to the 12 pro, iʻm going for the mini. if itʻs a dramatic reduction in battery life, donʻt think itʻs worth it. just my 2 cents.

Apologies if there are any users who actually only have 1 hand. I don’t mean to discourage you. I hope you enjoy the mini! Those of us with 2 hands maybe are exaggerating how important this so called 1 handed use really is when it’s kind of a myth

It's not a myth. I have enough experience with the iPhone 5, 7 and X to know what size is comfortable for me to use one-handed. iPhone 5 was perfect, iPhone 7 was okay, X is barely doable but not comfortable, because it is too wide and i might risk dropping it.

The Mini is somewhere between the iPhone 5 and 7, so it will likely be "good".

When will the embargo on Mini Review be lifted or when will reviews appear? I am keen on the battery reports as I am moving on from the iPhone X to a Mini ( in white for sure),the main reason being the weight on the X and a few associated issues because of that. I have always waited till next Jan-Feb to buy new phones announced in September however this time planning to pre-order, hence the worry. And we don't have liberal return policies like in other countries. Once we buy, it can only be replaced for manufacturing faults ( no returns for remorse buying).

Going by past releases, reviews will likely appear on 10. or 11. November.

So right between Pre-order and release.

But are you sure about the return policy from Apple in your country? Even though our country also has crappy return policies, apple still allowes us to return it inside the 14 day window.

Apple India online sales just launched a few months ago. Earier we were solely dependent on Apple Authorised resellers( both online and offline). Rechecked on Apple website and no mention of returns within any amount of days. Just the damage returns details are there.

Just take the picture with the wide lens. It is a better lens anyway. Then crop the section you want. Problem solved😊
I was curious about this theory of the wide being the 'better' lens. I just went outside on this cloudy day and took a picture with the wide lens on my iPhone 11 Pro and then the same picture with the telephoto. Then I cropped the wide lens photo to match the telephoto one. Here are my results.

I was tossing between getting the iP 11, 12 or 12 Mini as my next phone. Finally, I caught myself ordering a brown leather case for the Mini 🤭 so, Mini it is! 😁 and frankly, it's the right size for me as I'm currently using an iPhone 8 and don't feel like the 8 is too small for my lady hands 🙃 I know that I will be more content using Mini than a bigger iP 12 thou I could manage the regular 12 but it wouldn't fit my jeans pockets nearly as nicely! 👀

Without a big phone, your purse will be pretty barren. :p My personal countdown for the mini will begin on Saturday, as that will be the store of the two week period before the mini arrives in my long suffering hands.

Ugh... Don’t see any difference! Or it’s so small it’s irrelevant. Both are crap anyway. The only sharp telephoto are
1. Beastgrip line of lenses over the original wide.
2. Moment 58 mm lens a close second

I think I'll sit back and wait for somebody on the forum to buy one and then realize, after their return window has closed, that they don't like it. Then I'll buy it from them in the marketplace at a reduced price. That $730 price tag is holding me back.

Also, for portraits the perspective of the two cameras is just different. Cropping a wide lense is never a real substitute for longer lenses.

Perspective (apparent increased depth of a wide angle lens and apparent compression of depth of a telephoto) is strictly a factor of viewing distance. That of a 52mm equivalent shot at 4 feet is the same as a 26mm equivalent shot at 4 feet and enlarged twice as much (in the darkroom, even if digital).

Probably the Tuesday after pre-orders. THat’s when it usually is. I‘m more intrigued about the mini than the 12 Pro Max to be honest.

Battery is the only downside to this phone, I agree. It’s enough of a hit that I wouldn’t consider it.

I'm debating on either the 128g mini or 128 pro max. I wish the pro max could be in a lighter weight body. My eyes are bad, so I'd like a larger screen but I also don't want a heavy beast in my pocket since I feel like my iPhone X is already too heavy. I also want the better low light camera since I love night photography.
