There might not be physical space for a third camera in that small of a body, though
Which is maybe why they didn’t make one (but I actually don't think it was ever in the plans, yet), but I still don’t see how that correlates to battery life? The battery does not extend into that portion of the body.

Out of curiosity but how do you charge your iPhone 11? (Wireless? Original 5w charge brick? Well what is your routine? Thx!
I slap my iPhone 11 on a wireless charging pad overnight every night, 9 - 10 months in still at 100% battery capacity. I have never used the cable, heck I even set up the phone wirelessly, the power of iCloud.

looks like noone has linked this video in this topic yet... (even though most of you have likely already seen it)

interesting that he mini actually has a smaller bezel and notch afterall. the difference is small, but visible when you compare it directly:

The smaller size may be harder to distinguish for a lot of people. The notch doesn’t really bother me. I am happy with the smaller form factor and bigger screen.

Has anyone found an iPhone 12 mini review with the white model? For the life of me I cannot find one. (And yes, I mean the mini specifically. I know there are lots with the iPhone 12.)

I’m not a heavy user by any stretch, but sorry: four hours of real world screen-on time FROM A FRESH BATTERY doesn’t cut it in 2020. Think about how that battery will be performing in a year or two, especially as 5G coverage improves...?

Rationalize it all you want, but battery life should not be a point of compromise anymore. The Mini should have been thicker to allow for a bigger battery. To put it another way, far fewer people would have complained about an extra 20g of weight than there will be who complain about the Mini’s middling battery life. Book it!

from reading and watching most of the reviews, the 4 hour total from engadget seems to be the outlier. every other one says it should last the full day during normal use. just don't expect 1.5 days or that some people have come to expect from the 11.

Dave Lee’s review linked on the previous page gives the following results for web browsing via 4G:

So we get over 8-10 hours here for the mini, and around 83-84% of the regular 12’s battery life (and actually more compared with the Pro — either there is some variance, or maybe there are some differences in how the Pro screen is driven). That doesn’t sound too bad to me.

The problem with 5G as it relates to battery now is that it's sporadic coverage causes the battery to take a hit. As the coverage expands and the phone isn't bouncing between signals as often, the battery life will improve.

Actually I was quoting MKBHD, who tends to be a straight-shooter and didn’t single out the battery life as a deal-breaker. (He found it hardest to adjust to the smaller keyboard.) It also bears emphasizing that the situation probably isn’t going to improve when 5G becomes more of a thing.

I admit I’m easily triggered by weak batteries these days, as the one in my 6S is on its last legs and it’s... an awful way to live. So this sub–par battery life talk sends me running for the hills.

again though, it's only subpar compared to the rest of the 12 line.

it looks to be about equal or better to my XS, and better than the 6-7-8 variant. and no one thought those phones had "trash" battery life.

it's all relative.

Ah! I didn’t realize it worked like that. I just thought the 5G network in general was more power hungry. That‘s definitely encouraging if that’s not the case.

Might vary based on personal usage but if 80%+ of regular iPhone 12 battery life is true then this is more than enough for my usage.

I ordered the white phone last friday but still showing preparing to ship...worried if i dont get a tracking number soon it wont be here friday.

This might be an option in the future for users who have battery concerns??

Stop worrying we are all in the same boat with preorders from Friday 1 pm onwards. Some members have posted we won't get any shipping details till possibly Wednesday even Thursday.

It is more power-hungry I believe, but flaky coverage likely makes it a lot worse, as with 4G/3G.

The reviewer didn’t even state how he used the battery and you are just going to make a pronouncement, as if his usage is typical of the whole?

I hear ya re: relativity. My 6S is dying after just over 2 hours of screen-on time at this point. I could absolutely live with 4 hours (which really is the most anyone should spend staring at a smartphone screen unless they’re getting paid to do it), but the thought of 4 hours being the starting point still makes me cringe a bit...

And by the way, I’m not trying to be a wet blanket here—I‘m 100% in favour of the smaller phone initiative and I hope the Mini sells like hot cakes so that the trend continues for the next several years. It’s just my highly subjective opinion that phones should be built to accommodate a certain standard of battery life—and not the other way around—and that everything should be done to avoid a regression from that standard. It feels wrong to go backwards on such a fundamental component of a phone’s overall user experience.

iJustine putting SE2 next to the 12 mini is a good call!

looks like a slightly taller 4.7" screen at 5.4", a smidge wider.

Not sure why, but as someone who has a jailbroken SE2 with X gestures, finding this a bit disappointing honestly.

its cool that a mini is offered now, but not sure it's a 'must leap' if you have SE2 especially since the battery life has been supposedly underwhelming for most reviewers,
I quit watching her a long time ago. For some reason, I thought I would take a look and see if anything changed for the better. It hasn’t. I can‘t believe her videos pass Apple for anything meaningful. Lots of rambling and fluff without a lot of substance.

I just scrubbed through it

I think she’s a nice gal and super pretty but .. a walking apple advertisement

To her credit it’s obvious. Lots of “journalists” masquerade it well

Couldn’t criticize an apple product even if it was an exploding Note level fail
