Yeah, the pricing definitely comes as a disappointment. I've been holding out to upgrade from my SE v.1, and at the rumored $649 price I would jump all over this. At $729 for the T-Mobile version though, I'm having second thoughts. The difference isn't that great in dollar terms, but the idea of paying over $700 for a phone really gives me pause for some reason. It's a psychological thing, like What on earth am I doing?

I'm getting a 256gb 12 mini in either black or mint green. It's pretty much a no-brainer for me as I have the 8 and find it annoyingly just a little too big. My favorite iPhone has always been my 5s and this is about as close to that as you can get right now. The battery life is better than the 8, and the 8 only has one camera so it's not like I'm going to miss the telephoto (and if I'm taking portraits I'm doing it with my Canon M5 anyway). I never leave my house because of Covid so the lack of touch ID isn't too big of a deal.

My 8 will be going to my father, to replace his 6, and his 6 will be going to my 93yo grandpa along with a smart speaker so he can call his kids and grandkids with voice tech. It's an all-around win for my family.

I'm only bummed that they said there would be leather cases and there aren't any in the store yet.

Don't even need cases for a while due to COVID in my opinion. Which means I will be special careful during the few times I do go out (rather than being paranoid of dropping the phone like previous times when we were going out 24/7).

I have the 11 Pro right now and am thinking to upgrade to the 12 Mini. While I love the 11 Pro and will miss the telephoto lens, the smaller form factor and weight will be nice. For video, I much prefer a laptop or a full size TV, so screen size and battery life is not an issue.
I'm in a similar boat. Coming from an 11 Pro, but here is my breakdown:

- Never used telephoto lens
- Found the screen too big for in-bed use
- Struggle constantly with barely fitting in my workout pants without falling out
- I have a 12.9" iPad Pro, a 15.4" MBP so don't really need another 6.1" iPhone as I'd rather use the iPad for anything video related

I think I'm pretty set on the 12 mini. It's what I really wanted last year now that I think about it.

For all those complaining about battery life, the product is yet to be released in your hands so how can you know?

I have a 6s and I want to upgrade but now I’m on the fence should I go with the mini which will only be .7 inches more screen or go with the 12 pro which would be 1.5 inches more screen. The 12 pro will be longer and I still like the mini form factor.

I wonder if the 12 mini battery will be better than my 6s?

You can adjust the display Text but not all the in widgets/icons etc with out changing to completely to zoomed mode.
There is a setting for handicapped viewing! I do not know much about it at all! If you are so concern, I contact Apple Specialist to discuss it!

Without fingerprint sensor and the corona face-mask problem it's a big downgrade in terms of security and log-in... also, you're going to miss the 2nd port that can be used for microphone and headphones... (although this can be "emulated" by buying a lightning-to-2-ports hub)
Put on your mask and then do face I.D. recognition setup sequence! It works for me! :)

Comical beyond belief that people are suddenly pretending the iPhone mini is too small for viewing when the iPhone 4s was much smaller. Oh how did this pitiful world get along in life when the iPhone 4s was the only Apple phone? Some people just hate Apple's success so much they will complain when there really isn't a real reason to. LOL.

Thinking back, the iPhone 7 was my favorite of all time. Looking at the sizes, the 12 mini is almost the exact same size as the 7 so I think we have a winner (for me at least).

I looked it up, the rating for video was 11 hours when the iPhone 6s was released, so you get an extra 4 hours... and consider the flaky battery issue with the 6s that reduces it's performance even more, and that's still an issue with replaced batteries, I know from experience, so it could be like a 50% increase in performance from the battery, especially if you are not a heavy user.

Assuming no battery issues or similar build issues it should be an incredible jump in performance battery wise and then you get all the updated features, 5 years+ development catch up.

Yeah, my assumption is that they're going to get everyone to buy a silicone or clear case and the release more case options closer to Christmas, to get everyone to buy two cases. I'm probably going to go without for a while to see what else they offer, or get a cheaper 3rd party case, because yeah, I'm not taking my phone anywhere right now.

I think it will also hold better in the hand due to the return of the 90 degree angles on the chassis. It's the most compelling iPhone model in a long long time, it really is... I have the iPhone6s and what a great phone to last 5 years... no Android model I ever had managed that or could that I had previously owned.

I’m currently using a Xs and have been happy with it for the most part. I picked up the new SE when it first came out because I missed the 6-8 form factor but battery life on the SE didn’t cut it. I was hoping that the new chipset would give the battery life I was craving but it didn’t. I’m going to wait for real life battery drain tests for the mini before I go back to the old days of comfortable one hand phone days.

It’s a nice option for those that want a tiny phone but as someone who’s used the Max range since the iPhone 6 it’s not something I would consider for myself.
Its for those senios who are say ”why do i need a big computer in my pocket where evr i go” and stick to their se

All you people saying the smaller screen makes things unreadable do know that you can increase the font size, right?

What is it about OLED that gives people eyestrain? Have you tried turning down the brightness?

I have the original SE and love the compact form factor. Some people can't believe how compact it is when I take it out of my pocket. "What is that thing?" People have become so accustomed to these gigantic slabs that they forget when phones could be used with one hand... in fact, they were designed with that in mind. I lost a lot of respect for Apple when they violated that design principle.

They made that thing look tiny in the intro video, specifically in dude's hand. I'd love a smaller phone but I'll likely be sticking with my 11 Pro for a while.
In fact I would like a literally tiny phone. I wish there was a phone about twice the size of the apple watch, maybe the size of a credit vcard, and with an acceptable camera. I can use an ipad at home, but I want to keep my pockets as light as possible.

I also have to say, I'm disappointed by the colors. I wish the hadn't gotten rid of space grey.

Having upgraded to the SE 2020 back in April i am curious by the 12 mini. If i was to buy a new iPhone i'd go for the mini just because its small and similar to my current model. Annoying that Apple trade in doesn't include the SE 2020 so i can see if its a justified buy or not
You can trade your SE 2020 in. I just did the online trade estimate and they say I can get $210 for my SE 2020. It’s described as SE second generation on the scroll down menu selection.
