Ask an average person what 5g is and they will have no idea what you're talking about. No one cares about 5g. Or the camera bump for that matter. They still call these phones iPhone 'ex' which shows how much they pay attention or care about things that don't matter.

True, and also we don't know 100% what the next ones will be like.

It is however a good gauge on peoples appetite for a new iPhone. I am still using an iPhone 8 so it's starting to get more justifiable to upgrade, but I honestly can't fault the iPhone 8 in many ways. Seems to have lasted better than all previous iPhones I've had and kind of nice not having the "best".

So I came here to see what others felt about upgrading as well and i'm not surprised to see the majority are not so bothered anymore. How good can a smartphone really get.
 
I'm probably a "no" but anything is possible with me and Apple products

Reasons to buy iPhone 11
  • Better camera
  • Better processor
  • some gimmick camera feature

Reasons not to buy iPhone 11 (for me)
  • I have an iPhone battery case for my XS Max
  • The price
  • same design
  • iPhone XS Max is fast enough

You pretty much summed up why I will NOT be upgrading this year..even with your “Reasons to buy iPhone 11”

1. XS Max’s camera is more than sufficient. In fact it amazes me how far we’ve come with phone cameras.
2. It’s plenty fast enough..blazing fast actually. Not sure why you’d need a faster phone.
3. I’m not into gimmicks

I dont know why some are dismissing the importance of having 5G. Its available on a few networks here in London and will be on pretty much all of them by the end of this year. Not having a 5G version is a poor decision by Apple. I know there was issues with Intel but still. They should have been ready.

Saying that I am still buying the 11.

And it’s awful in London now never mind other cites...it won’t be a thing until mid 2020
 
Me too. I’ve had every generation and the minimal jump I felt front 8 plus to max made me see the light of the none sense I was doing buying one each year.
 
Dunno yet, if it has USBC, wide angle cam, wireless charging and dual SIM I’m likely to buy.
 
I've gone from a hard no, to most likely not.

Even if I do it won't be right away, unless I'm blown away (which based on rumors, I don't expect to be), and the trade in value on my Xs Max is @ least $700.
 
It will be a different design with that enormous camera hole(s) in the back. Everyone on the subway and at the office will be jealous, they will see you can get approved for a $1000 loan (don't tell them your Apple card application was rejected).

Maybe even people sitting alongside your Jetta in that 6PM LA traffic jam will see you're rich when you're texting while driving using the latest iPhone.

I can't wait to line up for one.

I feel the same mostly but I might get the new one if the camera gets a real night mode like the Pixel 3/P30 Pro I will upgrade. Low light post processing makes a huge difference to me.
If this is night mode like Note 10+ I’ll skip too.

Night mode on note 10 is suppose to be as good as pixel and P30 pro

That’s not a leak. What the case manufacturers will do, is the create ‘dummy’ cases based off renders that they see what they believe the iPhone will look like. That’s not a factual product based off what the iPhone will exactly look like. It’s probably fairly close, but this happens every year with these case makers release cases that they believe the iPhone will look like, but it’s not a guarantee either.

I tested the Note 10+ camera this WE because my carrier delivered it in advance last week. In a night club every pictures were blurry with projectors. When there was no projector nothing useful comes out.
Under street light it works but it’s not great. Some part of the picture are blurry.
So I hope for a killer night mode on the next iPhone like the Pixel 3 or P30 Pro. I had a Pixel 3 few months ago and still have the P30 Pro. But carrying two phones is a pain.
There is still hope as we rarely gets details on the components specifications with rumors.

I'm not sure who's dismissing the importance of 5G, yes it could potentially be a game changer. HOWEVER, for the handful of areas that do have 5G, the technology isn't there yet. So in my opinion, Apple is correct in not releasing that capability at this point. Here in the states, there's very few markets with 5G availability, and it is far from good at this point.
