Fact, but not by much. Europe: 3.93 million square miles, US: 3.80 million square miles.* The difference is about the size of Finland in Europe, or less than the size of Montana in the US. Europe is 50 sovereign states, US is one so yeah, differences there.

And now, back to our regularly-scheduled programming…

*Wikipedia
Comparing the size of continents to the size of countries doesn't seem particularly reasonable.

But this seems interesting.....

Lol. When I was in LA I walked to and from the convention centre every day. My colleagues thought I was mad. It was probably 2-3 miles each way. Nothing at all.

Given who mostly lives in cities, i would have no objection to limiting the range of city dweller EVs to 10 miles, to help prevent them from escaping.

What will be funny is if some handicapped people start filing lawsuits because none of the EV spots are designated handicapped spots (;
I'd bet that there'd be quite a lot of interest if they started combining the handicap spots with the EV charging spots... just based off some of the pro-EV responses I've seen here (and see across the web!) lol

In some places parking your ICEV in a charging spot is illegal. At the very least, it is an antisocial move that places your minor convenience of not walking a few feet further over other's need to charge. Is that really something you would feel good about?
If there are bylaws to prevent it then that's one thing but that's orthogonal to free parking space being restricted just because you drive a posh car. You get me so totally wrong if you think I "feel good" about parking in a particular parking spot. I'm just parking in a parking spot. It's that simple.

An EV spot is for EV's. If you want to park there and charge your car, buy one. Its that simple.

ICE cars in charging bays or EV's in charging bays but not charging is anti social to other EV drivers and is preventing the charger company from earning money for a spot they have paid for.

Anyone who parks in an EV bay to deliberately annoy or because they aren't able to understand why its wrong should probably have a good long think about how their behaviour comes across to the rest of the planet.

Can't we just try and get along with our fellow humans?

We went car hunting today for a hybrid and narrowed it down to three. Land Rover Discovery Sport Urban, Jaguar F-Pace and the BMW X3. We did try Audi but the lead time is up to 12 months still strangely. We’ve got a fully electric X3 on loan next week for a week to sample that, but the 200 mile range is off putting. The wife is keen on the Discovery and to be honest it was the nicest interior of the three with the biggest boot in class. JLR seem to be the best at hiding the battery so it doesn’t take up valuable boot space. I liked the Jag but the boot is tiny unfortunately.

A colleague used to have a Jaguar I-pace. Beautiful interior. Cream leather. But a bit out of my price range.

Do you get a discount for black paint?

I'd have to get like, $5000 off to accept a black car. Not a fan of black paint on a car.

Yeah Jag really nail the interiors but Land Rover seem to as well as it feels very premium. I didn’t get a pic of the F-Pace but did on the Discovery. This one is the entry spec so the dash is a strange half analogue and have virtual set up. My wife wants to spec it up a bit with nicer alloys and trim though. Even at the entry spec they seem to throw in a lot. She liked the gun metal grey colour paint work to which I agreed. She can get to work and back on just electric in this too, much like the BMW X3 which is a bonus as she can charge for free at work too.

I’m interested to test the X3 all electric next week as it’ll be our first proper taste of an EV. I’ve driven a Polestar over distance once and that’s it.

How is all that (I assume) leather going to age? I'd be afraid of blemishes and spots with that ligh color.

The lighting seems poor in these pictures as the interior is actually black. The exterior is Carpathian Grey but looks a lot darker in the images too. We’ll only have it for 3 years anyway so not too bothered about aging leather.

I was at the British Motormuseum yesterday for a BMW Meet. Noticed this 1972 electric car. I prefer the current models on the market 😂

I don't see myself buying an electric car anytime soon. I do a regular 300 mile journey at least once a month and do not want to deal with having to find chargers along the way. i changed from a diesel to a petrol car a couple years ago because of all the bad publicity about diesels and frankly regret it now. I was getting 50 miles to a gallon in the diesel and lucky if i get 25 mpg in the petrol car.
