One of the two EV chargers are out of action in my local ASDA still after nearly 2 months. I’m guessing a normal car could park in this space now while they work out what has gone wrong with it. Any ideas?
Nice. I am hoping 11.4.1 goes wide this week, though I suspect we won't see it till 11.4.2
Looks like someone rammed it at speed. Probably some ICE driver. One of the two EV chargers are out of action in my local ASDA still after nearly 2 months. I’m guessing a normal car could park in this space now while they work out what has gone wrong with it. Any ideas?

Frustrated that he couldn’t fill up as conveniently.
Enjoy! Welcome to the future. We ordered an Audi Q4 E-Tron 40, Black Edition in pebble grey with the technology Pack Pro. Delivery is June or July. We had borrowed a BMW iX3 for the last few days and although I liked it, I prefer the aesthetics of the Q4.
We are going fully electric much sooner than I ever thought we would but it’s a free car effectively so it’s worth giving it a try.
Edit: Forgot to mention we opted for the Q4 Sportback model too which is a bit more streamlined and surprisingly has a slightly larger boot capacity than the standard model.
100% go tethered. I hardly use mine. But we had an untethered installed at work and it’s a pain having to plug in with the cable is in your boot.Might be a bit dull but have you guys got any photos of your home charger setups? Getting one installed in 2 weeks and curious what they consist of.
We are getting a tethered version I think. We live in a nice street but unfortunately get quite a lot of undesirables walking through the area in the middle of the night so don’t really want my lead nicked. It’s quite common to wake up to a notification that someone has wandered up my drive and tried the handles on our cars .
Hypervolt tethered with a 10m cable. It has been rock solid.Might be a bit dull but have you guys got any photos of your home charger setups? Getting one installed in 2 weeks and curious what they consist of.

But fyi it can’t be unplugged if the car is locked. At least on mine anyway.
I’ll post a picture of mine in a bit. We went with a Zappi charger. Has the ability to charge at certain times (handy if you are on Octopus go EV rate.
Also has the ability to divert solar from the house to the car battery if there is an excess.
Not that we have solar, but it’s in our future plans.
Sorry I forgot about this. The other thing to consider is where you position it. Think about if you were a two car EV household or if your next EV has the connection point elsewhere. We are with Octopus too and will be updating them once we get the EV. A friend of mine who is the one who will be installing our wall unit and a further 12 at my wife’s company drives an Audi E-Tron GT and told me he sets the charge time through the Audi app to charge once the cheaper nighttime rate is active. Very handy. He hasn’t shown me what sort of charger he’s going to install, so I was curious to see what others were using. He told me a good chunk of his business is installing public chargers for councils around Wales and south west England at the moment. Apparently he’s doing on average 3 domestic installs a month which is three times more than last year. Just shows people are slowly moving across which is positive.
How often does he drive 600 miles? Is that his daily commute? My son just traded in his truck and bought a new Toyota Prius, he’s getting about 50mpg. I think this is the present future for transitioning off petrol. Why? It works today and it can take you 600 miles without undue delay.

If not I’d disagree. A small delay on an occasional journey isn’t that big a deal. Charging doesn’t take that long and I’d rather share the round with people who take a short break every few hours.

Not in a size car I want to drive or can afford.I have a couple of longer family journeys to make this year but have a 2.0TDi for those. Our electric will be for the shorter and medium journeys. Range seems to be improving on models by the month, so I don’t think it’ll be long before we see 600 mile ranges on cars in a few years time.
Bottom line the infrastructure in the USA currently is lacking in this regard, And I don’t want an hour long break for charging when cross country driving. My current routine for long distance driving is to stop every 2 hours for a short break, rest room and fill up.How often does he drive 600 miles? Is that his daily commute?

An hour? 20-30 minutes is the norm.Bottom line the infrastructure in the USA currently is lacking in this regard, And I don’t want an hour long break for charging when cross country driving. How much distance does 30 min get you?An hour? 20-30 minutes is the norm.
An hour charge (for Tesla supercharging at least) is not needed. If you stop every 2 hours (120-150) miles, you would only be using 50% of a long range Model 3 battery. You don't need to charge to 100% every time you stop. At a supercharger that's about 20-30 minutes of charging.
It will take longer than driving a ICE, no doubt. But it is doable.

OK that sounds reasonable, but I don’t think the infrastructure is there to support a lot of EVs on the road. I’m used to this kind of station full of petro pumps. I’m not sure how many charge stations are here if any, maybe a couple.

one of the admins over at chevybolt.org shows what the current infrastructure looks like. Understand that DC charging is the "fast" charging where some vehicles can go 20-80% in like 20 min or so, and not all DC charging stations support that. it is getting better but there is still ways to go.Bottom line the infrastructure in the USA currently is lacking in this regard, And I don’t want an hour long break for charging when cross country driving. Depends on the car, the charging station and the weather. How much distance does 30 min get you?

This will be the case for us too, and home charging will just be for top ups mostly as the main charging will be done at my wife’s workplace where it is free. Public charging around by us is pretty crap looking on ‘ZapMap’. There are about 6 public chargers within a few miles and 3 of them are flagged with having issues. One is that one I showed a picture of where an ignoramus had driven over the entire unit lol. Our local Morrisons has two chargers but are having issues with vandalism. Thankfully we won’t have to use any of these and it’s the ones further away on extensive journeys that are mostly likely more important. But the vast majority of charging is done when you are asleep at home or in the office working.
Who cares how long it takes when you’re not there.
When I get to the office I plug in and go to work. When it’s time to leave it’s done. Sometimes I disconnect at lunchtime as it’s done by then, but only if it suits.
