In almost 2 years, I have done nothing different but plug in when I get home (No need to do complex differential equations to figure out my charging needs). My wife's car first, then move the cable over to my car. I drive a LOT more than her, so mine usually need 2.5 hrs to get back to 80% (vs 45 mins to an hour for her car).

My Saturday mornings are much better (I would go gas up both cars), and my Wednesday commute home is much better (I would have to fill up my car). Not to mention my 1-2 month oil changes that I no longer have to either do myself or fight to get an appointment.

So, if I have to add 1-6 additional hours on a trip my net gain is immeasurable (I guess I could calculate it out, but I have no interest, I'm winning).

I was in the same boat as the other nay sayers before I realized that I was holding onto ICE vehicles for the 1-2 trips per year I might do, instead of enjoying the benefits of EV every day.

Almost all problems have a solution with various compromises.

The uphill battle EVs have at the moment is that making the switch requires a significant change to driving habits and more planning. As charging stations, battery charge times, and range all improve to make the experience almost indistinguishable from fossil fuel automobiles voluntary adoption rates will soar.
Fair comment but very bad example as that poster indicated they make three stops themselves already ;)

Only for certain cases. People who charge at home and use their car as a commuter car actually required less planning than an ice car. It’s when, and if, your vehicle is used where the mileage of the trip exceeds the charge of the battery does that require some amount of planning.

10 minutes to charge in conjunction with bio and food break already does that. My ev definitely goes farther than my bladder.

Hence the reason you are an early adopter. It fits you like a glove. 👍
However the world is a great big place filled with people whose lives are unlike yours.
As the EV tech evolves it will all work out.

Just received this notice from my EV manufacturer regarding the Tesla NACS to CCS1 adapter that I received 4 months ago:

Got a present from Tesla. Another 30 day FSD trial supervised, hands free. Anyone else? Funny no software update, just an fsd update.

A buddy of mine send me a text at 6 am this morning, asking if I heard about another free push of FSDs. I hadn't heard of anyone else getting it, so we chalked it up to his toddler son subscribing him accidentally. I just sent him a message with an update that there seems to be others getting it... Thanks for posting this!

I have it on both my TM3 and TMY, so I don't see when trials get pushed out.

Ditto.

Ever since I hit senior age, I find myself having to stop more frequently than my youth years where I could go for 4-5 hours of driving without stopping.

Now, with my EV needing a charge every 200 miles, I find I stop at least once in between that range.

Hate my shrinking bladder...

Folks are upset because 12.5.5/6 haven't been pushed in mass so most folk are not going the experience the E2E highway stack.

12.5.4 has still slightly janky city streets speed control (imo).

Well, I have FSDs on both of mine, I don’t have the E2E highway stack yet, I’m on OS 2024.32.10 fsds 12.5.4.1 on them both.

So, not sure why people would be upset, when those with paid fsds aren’t even on it yet…

I think a good portion of the fleet is still on 12.3.6.

Just looked at TMC, folks getting the trial are also being updated to 12.4.5.1. So that is good.

Yeah, at most I would expect them to come to 12.5.4.1. That’s the main release everyone seems to be consolidating on.

But I don’t think they are going to get E2E highways. I assume this is for data gathering that will be used to refine E2E highways before general release.

Yeah, I think E2E highway should be released for the rest of us by the end of the month, at least if they want to stick to their reported timetable.

I am curious to know what they are going to release for the holiday update though.

My 2018 Model 3 with FSD since purchase and hardware upgraded to HW3.0 now has v2024.32.10 including v12.5.4.1 of FSD. “…slightly janky…” is being very kind. Version v12.3.6 was considerably better in my car. I mostly avoid FSD altogether and just use the TACC with AutoSteering for highway driving. I’ve learned to be disappointed and have set a low bar for OTA improvements as they come from the mothership. I use FSD the first few drives after updates but so far have invariably turned it off.

With the recent NHTSA investigation it is possible they made the speed control of FSD way more conservative.
