Apart from the interiors surely?
They have very down market interiors especially in the back.
And have you seen what the Chinese car makers have been doing in the last 5 years?
They have left everyone behind including Mercedes.
Honestly no I haven’t, they aren’t available where I am (US), so it really doesn’t matter to me. It’s not like I can buy one.

I like Tesla’s interiors. Clean and simple works for me.

Think of FSD (V13 on HW4) as the same situation in reverse, most people in other countries don't care about it because they cannot experience it.

just got a Chevy Equinox EV RS 2025. Looked at other companies. Didn't want a Tesla and sad I can't buy a BYD.

Looked at the Mustang..... hated the screen the Model Y has. Also 60k for a ford is wild.... someone needs to tell them they are not a luxury brand. I like the VW EV but had bad experiences with VW. They lost my lease for 6 months once I returned it and were threating to sue me.

I really like the Chevy. I wanted the LT that is much much cheaper. I didn't really care about the comfort package that is like 8-9k more for slightly better seats, heated seats/steering wheel.

They got me out of my lease 1 year early. I had a Nissan Rogue but wanted something before the tarriffs kicked in + plus Nissan going bankrupt. Did like the Ariya tho.

Bad about the Equinox does not have apple Car play. You have to sign into google for most features. Deal breaker for many but I love the car. Way more comfortable than my old Audi Q5, Mazda C5 or Nissan Rogue and the tech is real nice on it.

I was able to get the 7,500 off federal, 1,250 off for costco, state rebate rebate as well,3k for some switching companies, they got me out of 10 months at 500 from Nissan I had left(guess companies can get 6 months waved on leases I had coupon from Honda, nissan and Mazda so the chevy manager just waved the other months),

45k ended up paying under 32k(27k since I didnt have to pay the rest of my old lease). They installed the charger for me at my home and included one.

I know it is too late, but did you look at the Honda Prologue? It is the same platform, but built for Honda and included CarPlay.

Enjoy your new car. I had to Google the model as I wasn’t familiar with it. I don’t think they are available over here.

they are by far the cheapest EV you can buy currently in the US. If you get FWD base LT you can get it for under 25k after all incentives. I live in CT and it snows and sometimes in the fall wet leaves make it tough to drive so that it's not an option.

I test drove all the EVs under 50k because after that you don't get incentives(7,500 US, 2,500 in my State). My other option was to wait my lease out and was going to get a 2 year old Audi A5 used for 30-35k.

I feel it's early to go full EV but honestly if you have been to China all car companies are dead once BYD is allowed in your country. It's just a matter of time till we are all driving them. BYD killed Nissan, is making VW sell cars cheaper than even in Germany. outselling Tesla in China and is already in Latin America. Friends in California and Texas have sent me pictures of people driving them with Mexican plates near them.

I was looking at the prologue for my wife. I didn’t yet test drive it, nor has she said yes to one. But if I got another ev that’s the end of petrol in our family. I would road trip in my TM3 without hesitation. But we don’t really road trip like that.

It’s gonna be a while before we see a BYD in the states. But I would want to see how they stack up over time to other brands. I like my Tesla but could be open to another ev at some point.

BYD are starting to be more common on the roads here in the UK. I would certainly test drive one when I (eventually) come to replace my BMW i3s. The MG brand is a lot more common though. One of my bosses has one. But for me they are not that nice. MG was a British brand that was brought out of retirement by a Chinese company. I wonder if done owners still consider it a British company?

I’ve had my EV three years, and at least over here it doesn’t feel all that early to be driving an EV. Pretty mainstream.
Charging stations are everywhere and I rarely have to use them anyway.

Anyway enjoy.

With 100% tariffs I suspect you may never see them! I’ve not been in one but they look ok externally.

I've seen a few of these now, the rear looks great. I'm not sure about the front design. Everything considering, and ignoring at the same time, I don't think it is as good as the TMY. But then again it isn't a Tesla, but it is quite a bit more expensive in the UK at the moment. Tesla are really dumping their prices, and it wouldn't surprise me when people choose their own hard-earned cash over principles. I never thought I would say it, but BYD is too expensive now.

But for the small SUVs the one's I really like currently are:

BYD killed Nissan pretty quickly..... finally outselling Tesla in China(people in europe/US dont like Tesla either anymore)..... it's a matter of time. I lived in NY,Boston, CT and the amount of US cars that are not Silverados or F150s are pretty much never seen. American cars are just not as good as Japanese ones and more expensive. Also way too expensive to be anywhere near the price of German cars. I remember when I went to check out the ford escape? its was the one between the smallest and the explorer. It was going to be $45k.... I was like dude I can get a Q5 for this. He tried to sell me on it being a better car, built in the US and easier to fix. I was like thats cool.... but if I pick up a girl in a ford or an Audi/BMW..... which one will she be more impressed with.

US is odd. I am fine they ban BYD but make your cars better !!! Make your phones better !! I saw the phones they have in china for $300 of brands I never heard of that were insane. We dont have competition here or apple wouldn't be getting away with this we like 40% profit margin on everything and our budget phone is $600. The phone carrier subsidies are wild too. T-mobile gave me 4 free iPhone 16s for 2 year plans at Sams club. I also have 4/8 lines free with my 10 year old plan some how. So $130 for 8 lines and 5 iPhone 16s.....

I would consider BYD, but they are not in Canada. Only reason I would consider them as it seems they are the only company that has a self driving option like Tesla, which is the real thing I care and want in a vehicle.

NJ is the Tesla capital of the east coast.

There isn’t competition, except for the other hundreds of manufacturers because capital requirements all in are steep. Plus Apple is a popular brand.

TMO still does those carrier subsidies?

T-mobile I dont know how their stock is up they gave me a new free line because they raised the price of the lines I do pay for by $5 after 12 years. I had 4 lines for $100(1 line was free) but had a 25% off for life so was at $75. They might have given me "free phones" for a 2 year contract at that point. Then I just upgrade 1 phone a year for $300 so none of my phones are too old. The $5 is not charged on the free lines, more the three lines that are part of the original deal. I have T-mobile come to my job and the sales people are like man your deal is insane someone messed up doing it :)

also Costco/Sams club T-mobile people have even better deals than the provider. Those are the places I would get free lines. Or add a line and get 2 new iPhones for free. The service is not bad it's better than AT&T but not as good as Verizon. Tho Verizon is 2x the money. My wife sometimes complains she wants to switch services I am like cool go on someone else plan. I am Never leaving T-mobile

does that work in the city? I think most EV now drive on the highway by themselves pretty much. Its just in the city they can't

I was just in Boston yesterday and the amount of people who just jump in front of your car when it's a green light... yea.... never using AI unless Tesla/BYD has to pay the insurance premium after the pedestrian dies

That is where the always running dashcam comes in. I think Rivian is the only other maker that has one built in.

Hehehe you should try the Netherlands; the weaker participant in traffic is never guilty. It is your responsibility to look after others, no matter how crazy they act.

pedestrians < cyclists < mopeds < motorbikes < cars < light goods vehicles < heavy goods vehicles etc....

Or try the old little cities of Italy and France. You'd be so lucky to get through at all.

Motorways, dual carriageways, absolutely fine. In town, never. And sadly people can't be trusted to not do that themselves. You already see idiots complaining that their automatic cruise control don't work that well in a 20mph zone...

3 hour journey today took 5. Guess what sort of lorry was on fire on the M25? It wasn’t an EV! Because it was hot (by UK standards!) passed about 8 ICE vehicles on the hard shoulder. Not sure why they can’t handle 24 degrees!

Anyway car is on charge. I always choose a hotel with chargers. This one has 14 so a good number.

Any 5N owners who track their cars (or use track features on road)?

There seems to be an issue with the software with a track mode braking feature that can lead to loss of brakes.

Source (I have not vetted this source):

The fast and fun 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is being recalled because of a problem with its brakes that has resulted in at least one crash.

The recall of 1,508 vehicles aims to address a software error that could lead to "reduced braking performance," increasing the risk of a crash, according to the NHTSA. That happens specifically when the left-foot braking feature—one of the many software-enabled features that makes the Ioniq 5 N such a good time on the track—is activated.

…But in certain situations, the erroneous software could trigger depressurization of the anti-locking braking system (ABS), meaning it won't be available if needed.

ABS dramatically cuts stopping distances, and even drivers who are used to pumping the brakes in an emergency will likely be caught off guard if this safety feature suddenly stops working. Hyundai told the NHTSA that it is aware of one crash related to this issue as of Feb. 6, when it filed recall documents with that agency. But the automaker said it wasn't aware of any related deaths or fires.

Hyundai is advising Ioniq 5 N owners to stop using left-foot braking until they can bring their cars to dealerships, where the software for both the vehicle control unit and integrated electronic brake will be updated free of charge. Hyundai plans to mail owner notification letters on April 7. Owners can also call the automaker's customer service department at 1-855-371-9460 for more information. Hyundai's reference number for this recall is 275.

I rarely need to use the brake pedal in my Tesla but when I do, it's because I've misjudged braking distance or someone cut in front of me. So I'd be nervous if I was told to not depend on it. I hope this gets resolved quickly for 5N owners.

I demo'd a Y last year in the city at the end of a work day downtown. It handled amazing the full size driving. I know you have to watch it still and be aware, but other then keeping my finger on the steering wheel so it knew I was there it handled everything flawlessly. From 4 way stops, advanced green lights, people at cross walks, construction lane closures. So again I was pretty impressed. For my weekly driving it is 99% rural and would love to just get in the car, punch in my work or home address and just enjoy the idilic nature around me while the car looks after the driving.

I don’t know much about it, just saw that article. It’s hard exactly what is the issue, but I think it is only an issue when using the specific track feature, but I could be wrong.

you answered that question in your own post:

of course people can activate this when not on a track, but ...
have not seen this mentioned in the Ioniq forum ...

also this:
  • Hyundai says the issue can be fixed with a software update, and owners of affected vehicles will be notified by April 7, 2025.
