Talking to my boss today he did not sign up for the premium package so must get it free for a certain period of time. I don't see any of the subscriptions associated with the car in my Tesla app and not sure how it works on the front end when you are the main owner who gives out keys. I don't have options for any subscriptions, unless I am looking in the wrong spot?

Do you see the option to subscribe in the vehicle?

Do you see the option to subscribe in the vehicle?
When researching this, there can be only one primary account, the rest are guests basically. Only the primary can subscribe to things which is why I don't see the options for that as it is a company car.

Sorry, do you mean even in the car you do not see the option to subscribe?

I am reasonably certain that only the main account holder can subscribe to services. I won't be able to have my wife check what she sees in car until I get home.

I will check that when I get back in the car when I head home from work. If the option to subscribe is in the car, would it let me enter my credit card details in there directly?

The primary account would have had to turn off "In-Car Upgrades" via Upgrades/Manage in the mobile App. Mine defaulted to on, if I remember correctly. As long as that is on, upgrades should be available in the vehicle.

No. That has to be done via the app/website... You can ask your boss to let you enter the card details in their app. The problem is, if they have multiple Teslas all on their account, they all use the same card. If this is the way it was setup, it really isn't ideal, your business should have a separate account per vehicle. This way each account/vehicle can be managed separately and have unique payment sources.

yeah I see that, was using ChatGPT and it cleared this all up for me. Pretty sure the boss would just pay for it I wanted it. Looking at what I get for the subscription price and not sure it is really worth it for me. Live traffic is not important, 99% of my driving is rural. Having data in the car would be nice, but the 30 seconds it saves of connecting to my hotspot is not all that bad. Sentry not that important, not too worried about the Mennonite/Amish hooligans robbing the electric car and making a getaway with their horse and buggies. And sat imagery for the maps not a big deal to me either, I did not use them in CarPlay in my outback so not an issue not having the option. Cell is paid for by work so have a hotspot and data that I am not paying for.

The good thing is, Premium Connectivity is not required for Sentry Mode, it is only needed for remote viewing of sentry mode and notifications of alarm footage. The recordings will still be on your USB drive, as long as you have sentry mode set to be on.

I have sentry mode on except home.

2 weeks ago, someone bumped into my wife's TM3 at her job (employee parking lot), then ran. I immediately got the notification (my wife doesn't have a desk job) and let her know. We were able to catch the hit and run (they moved to another spot in the parking lot). My wife called the police, and they gave us the information needed to contact the other party's insurance. I had already filed the claim, and their insurance company admitted 100% fault before I even got home to view the higher resolution footage from the drive.

Just so you can get an idea of how much things cost. The body shop only had to repair the bumper cover (plastic weld, sand,...) and paint match. That total was $2,300.

I do have sentry mode on, and had it on before the free demo of Premium was going. Do you need an external USB or hard drive for it to store video?

Yes you need storage. There may be a USB-A drive in your glovebox. If not, it is not recording.

I have a USB-A flash drive reader with a 256 GB SD card (Endurance very important for multiple read/writes) in there.

*Sentry mode does not need Premium Connectivity. It is only the ability to get the alerts and view recordings on your mobile device that requires premium connectivity. So, the bold part isn't important.

We sold our 2022 Kia Sorento EX Hybrid yesterday at Carmax, and we're taking delivery of a 2026 Tesla Model Y AWD on Thursday. Since getting the Model 3 earlier this month my wife and I have been really impressed with the drive, ride quality, and features.

It’s funny the demographic differences. I don’t know anyone who’s bought or even considered a Tesla this year. All others, even old ones like the Jaguar iPace, we see on new registrations. Polestar, VW, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, KIA, Hyundai and BYD all going well. Even MG. But barely any Teslas.

My son gave up his TM3 for a Mach e. I recently went for a ride and I’ll post my impressions later.

However, competition is good and I’m noticing other Evs in the road. However in my area, which is a big Tesla area I’m noticing quite a bit of the refreshed 2026 TMY. And in my area of work Tesla is killing it. Area differences I suppose.

So many Teslas on the road here, they dwarf any other EV on the road from what I can see. Because of the tech, especially the FSD, it is the only EV I would even look at. I like the look of the Tesla's but they are not the nicest looking EV's on the road in my opinion. Really love the look of the Cadillacs.

I like the look of the Caddy too, but the price... Starting at $120k. That's getting into housing prices. Who's really going to want the bottom of the line of any vehicle...

certainly not I! I did not look at the price, I have just seen a few on the road and thought that the latest designs for Cadillac were really sharp, EV or not. But yeah that pricing is crazy.

When I was a kid, my parents drove Cadillacs. When they were tired of one, they would get a new one. I appreciated them but they really aren't my style (I didn't like "floating" down the highway). Anyway... I think the LyriQ is the first Caddy I've looked at. It would still be a long shot for me, but the potential is there. Even the Escalade is looking less boxy. Really nice looking cars.

Funny. Tesla is the only EV I would never look at.

In Europe massive drop off in Tesla sales. I guess we are more sensitive to the CEO’s views over here.
Plus we have a lot more charging options and brands to choose from.

What don't you like about the Tesla?
Lack of style. I much prefer German cars styling. Stuck an iPad to the dash and say you are done just looks ugly to me.
Lack of physical buttons (and stalks!).

Elon musk (and his political views). I couldn’t support the man in any way. This is the main reason sales are about half what they were imo.

I do like the way they link the car to your payment method. But that saves about 5 seconds a charge about once a month.
Also the supercharger network is good, but so many other options where I drive.

One thing to note, FSDs is not available on most countries where Teslas are available.

What got me into Tesla was I was in a car accident in my manual e46 325i. I ended up having to have back surgery. I needed to find a way to make my 3 hrs per day commute easier. TM3 FSD (beta at the time, supervised now) entered the chat. Loved it so much that I sold 2 other vehicles and got a TMY and became a full Tesla household.

It is also the only vehicle that has improved since I purchased it. Every other vehicle I've owned, what you get is what you are stuck with...

It would take a lot for me to leave the Tesla ecosystem. There are plenty of other options, but very few to none that have everything.

True. Not all options are available in all countries. I’m not sure FSD will ever be approved in the UK.
