From what I’ve seen it doesn’t seem like a major update for the air pods.
Personally I feel it's a pretty impressive upgrade.
50 percent better ANC, better overall sound, volume control on the buds and longer battery life plus another size ear tip.

It feels like Apple has addressed pretty much everything apart from Lossless.

This release seems like a significant improvement in all areas of the headphones.

Will wait for reviews. If ANC is really 2x better and sound quality has improved as well then I'll probably buy.

I put my order in.

My biggest complaint with the AirPods Pro is the vent on the back beside the skin sensor. Once that clogs, you lose all bass response, much like losing a seal. In fact, the test seal function will report a loss of seal due to the missing bass. The only fix is to suck on the vent to draw the wax out - wiping it with alcohol isn’t enough. Once done, the APPs are good for a while, then it needs repeating.

The APP2 moves this vent onto the top edge. Should make the above a thing of the past. That’s enough of an upgrade for me. I’ve had no issues with the current APP mic - use them on Webex meetings all day every day.

Ordered. I missed the window to replace a crackling first generation one (close to launch day). Cannot bear it anymore and get the new version.

The battery life improvement alone is worth the upgrade, but the improved noise cancellation was the cherry on top for me. I still think the NC on the original pros is pretty good, so I'm excited to hear how the new ones will sound. This also eliminates the first world problem of having to remember to take my pods out of my gym bag & bring them to work every morning. Now I will have a dedicated pair for the gym & one for work!

I really hoped for a more compelling product since my APP1s are still going strong (that is, after I had replaced the case AND buds for issues)

Yet I will get them anyway. It's too great of a product, and I get way too much use from them to skimp.

LOL are you me? I just ordered mine, for the exact same reasons... plus the volume control. And also because I wanted another pair to keep in my gym bag.

Absolutely! Woke up early to get them right as the store opened. Though I am kinda surprised that even now you can still purchase them for a launch day delivery. I was almost certain by now there would be a few weeks shipping delay.

I think I'm going to force myself to wait for next year and the likely usbc case update, but it's gonna be hard, I would really like find my and the onboard volume controls

I put in my order. I might cancel if voice calling is not improved as it primarily is used for work calls the the 1st gen can be used in only moderately noisy environments... all I want it to do is filter background noise as much as my M1 14"/16" machines.

Aside from that, if SQ is modestly improved then being able to use them for that while working is also a major bonus, plus battery life of course.

I upgraded as soon as preorders opened. I live in a major city, and while V1 Pros are significantly better than my OG AirPods, a lot of subway and city noise still gets through especially on calls and when listening to Podcasts. Upgraded noise cancellation was the biggest feature I was looking for, made them an instant buy.

That said, the update to transparency mode is really nice for when I do want to be dialed into what’s happening around me. Better battery life and improving on already great audio are also nice added bonuses. Don’t really care about a lack of USB-C charging, I use MagSafe or Qi pads 99% of the time anyway.

Funny enough my AirPod Pro Case stopped charging via cable over half a year ago (I could only charge them wireless) but since yesterday, I cannot connect the AirPods themselves anymore either. Maybe it is a sign? However, I just googled a little and apparently the Sony WF-1000XM4 are the best on the market? Now I dont know what to dooooo. They are also 100 Euro cheaper than the AirPod Pro 2
Did you check for navel lint in the charging point. We’re used to doing it on the iPhone but probably don’t think about our Airpods. 😊

Edit: I see that you did check and have them checked by Apple tech. Sorry they are dying. Hope you like the new ones.

🤣 Seriously, dude? How can I possibly control the source levels of every video or audio file I stream, let alone the various sound levels in my environment out in public? And using Siri for this is very disruptive because it drastically reduces the volume while it listens to and processes your command, to the point where you're missing content. Not to mention I'm also having to talk out loud, which also covers the content and can be awkward around other people.

Anyway, it's about time they included this basic feature on a "Pro" level earbud. Better late than never.
While I’m glad that they have added this to the APP now, I didn’t really miss them all that much in the previous version. Of course using Siri was about the most complicated way to control volume. I always have my phone at hand and it made changing volume easy. With devices as small as the APP, it can be hard to implement multiple controls without them being clunky to use. I like what they have done with the stems to allow volume control in this new version.

I’m curious what changes would make you want to upgrade? This new version had most of my wishlist. Just wondering what others would wish for.

I ordered even though both of my day one APP were replaced in July due to the static issue. Will test during the 14 day window and decide if it’s worth it. With anything you hear I trust my ears more than YouTube reviews.

Especially since seemingly none of them bothered to comment on the diminished ANC over time after gen 1 was released.

Sure, it's not by any means a deal-breaker for them not to have volume controls, just a head-scratcher. Maybe it would be hard to implement for a rookie engineer, but we're talking about one of the premier tech companies in the world. I think they could've figured it out for the previous version 😉 But like I said, better late than never.

I’m not sure. Maybe water resistance. These updates are just very incremental. When the APP1 came out there was a very clear need to upgrade from AP. If the ANC is truly 2x better that will be fantastic.

I once washed my original AirPods while washing my pants. Found the case sitting in the bottom of the washer. Fortunately before I tossed them into the dryer. I let them dry out for a day and then they worked just fine. I was surprised.

Better ANC sealed the deal for me. Claims of 2x better are quite bold. If true I may cease to keep my Sony XM4s in my work bag, which would be nice as I carry it around a lot and it’s packed full. I’m skeptical about the 2x claims though.
