Op is a hater. I’d buy the MacBook Pro if it looked like this

These new MBPs are performance and power beasts! But they also look thick, clunky and bulbous. I've cancelled my 16 inch order because it is hard to spend thousands on a laptop with design cues from 2012. I may consider the 14 but even that looks bulbous. Anyone else considering cancelling/returning?
Are you trying to bait people into cancelling their orders so yours arrives sooner? :p

Ooh! Put a NSFW tag on statements like that.

Cancel? I am ordering a few and putting one each in
- 2021 Ford Bronco which has design cues from 1966.
- 2021 Mecedes G-Wagon which has design cues from the 1970s.
- 2021 Porsche 911 which has design cues from the 1960s.

I'm just saying in a lighthearted manner, but doors on our cars have been around for longer.

We wanted battery life and sustained performance - they gave us that. Simple.

I think they look great and I'm happy that they are as big as they are -No way to get this much performance and cooling if the body was much thinner.

I'm very happy that MBPs are back to seeing specs that can actually be considered appropriate for pros.

So many leading artists and creators have been holding out on upgrading their MBPs because the upgrades were so lacklustre.

The M1 Air and 13" Pro are amazing value and performance if you just want a small footprint on your portable Mac.

I also don't get why you'd spend this much on an 2021 MBP if you just want something slim and good looking -These are created with creatives and professionals in mind, not for casual users who want to travel light and just do emails, writing, watch YouTube, etc.

MacRumors when Apple compromises performance of last generation by making it too thin: Why don't you care about us PRO users??
MacRumors when Apple don't compromise performance of new generation: Why is it so thick, I want thin and sexy!
This 100%

Like, just get an M1 Air or 13" Pro now and sell it when the next M2(?) Air launches in Q1-Q2 of 2022.

The performance on both the M1 Air and 13" Pro is still really good, especially considering the extremely low pricing.

I also think Black Friday 2021 will also see some ludicrous deals on the M1 Airs and 13" Pros. Should definitely be worth getting if the new 2021 MBPs are too thiccc for you.

I also canceled my order. I only care about thin and light. Can't justify traveling with a brick every day when the mba m1 is more than enough as a software engineer.
What configuration are you using for the M1 MBA?

MBA M1 is a really great machine for software engineering, especially if you have 16GB. Even my 8GB M1 has been good.

I'm also a dev and I'm getting the 16". I need 32GB of RAM, more multicore for compiling, and most importantly, the 16" screen for more space.

I really wish they had a 32GB mba. I might just wait for one of my client to send me one, but yes when you're running docker, 32gb does help. I'm using a portable 15inch 4k monitor with an ipad stand so it's closer to my eyes and at the right height.

That's my alternative instead of using a 16 inch laptop since I travel. I can adjust the high and it lives much closer to my eyes compared to having a 16 inch on a stand.

If I want super-thin and light, I have the option of an MBA.

I really hope when this transition is complete that Apple experiments with a successor to the PowerBook G4 12", MacBook Air 11" and one-port MacBook. If nothing else, just to show off what can be done with Apple Silicon.

That said, I am eagerly awaiting my 14" after eight years in laptop limbo, and will most definitely not be sending it back unless there are significant design och production issues that have not become apparent yet.

The macbook 12 was probably the best laptop I ever had until it started slowing down. This format with an m1 makes it a way better alternative to an iPad Pro with a keyboard.
