I happen to be quite satisfied with my X. Other than a better camera, I have no reason to even consider upgrading.
I do have a 7 Plus in service to a family member - if that were to have issues or become 'obsolete', I might replace that. We'll see....

Not this time around unless there’s a significant design change... i.e. 2018 iPad Pro design. I’m happy with my iPhone XS 512GB. That alone was $1,350.00. This was coming from the iPhone X 256GB. So I may be waiting awhile.

I feel the exact same way... I don't think there is anything they can do to entice me to upgrade my XS Max with the exception of a design change to look like the new iPad Pro.

I have the X, a 7+, and a spare (SE). So if either of the spares break, I'm not buying. If the X is broken/lost, I'll use one of the others until I can get the SIM Free model (I'm prepaid). Otherwise, I'm going to try to skip this year.

I am passing on this. I was disappointed by the early issues of the iphone Xs where it had wifi and cellular issues as well as charge gate. I actually had high expectations for the Xs as I was upgrading from an iphone 7, so I thought that the Xs would be a far more polished iphone X with more speed, but I was very wrong at least in terms of network performance at launch, and first impressions matter a lot. I had a sour experience. I am liking the phone now though. I will buy a new iphone if apple can release a phone with the polish that they are known for.
I had the same exact initial experience. Did you resolve your wifi/cellular issues? It's still not as good as the iPhone 8 that it replaced.

As far as on-topic, I'm on IUP, so I'll upgrade no question. I just hope they release a smaller ~5.2" screen with flagship specs.

F no! Law of deminishing return.

Slightly Better camera, slightly better battery life, slightly better screen. Different design. But at the end of the day it’ll do the same thing as my XR or Max.

My purchase this year is gonna be a long range Tesla model 3!

I will see you with a new iphone in about 6 months.

IF the notch is still there then no.

There is no ‘if’, the notch will be here for 2019. There’s _nothing_ indicating that Apple will completely eliminate the notch, which either would be a reduction in the technology or a new display, neither of which Apple would change at this point.

I won't be updating this year. My Xs Max experience is not very good. For the price point, I have expected at least a decent phone with great user experience. The tech that Apple offers is outdated by a LOT. Not to mention the slow charger in the box etc, etc.

At this point, the only reason why I stick with Apple is because of iOS and how great it works with my Macbook. However, I am not planning on buying any Apple products from now on until they change their policy. They are too aggressive on consumers, high prices and the quality is low, and I mean LOW.

They are about to release iOS 13 with dark mode, while Android has it since 2013 or even earlier. Is Android sluggish, ugly and the performance drops with time? - Yes. But if you have a decent upgrade program you can change your phone every year and experience all new trends and tech at the moment, instead of waiting for a couple of years and pay a bag of money for old tech. So... Thanks but No thanks.

If Apple cares they will realize this and hopefully will make up their mind. I am well aware that their top priority is revenue but if you have unhappy customers they will eventually turn their back on you.

My answer is a maybe. I will definitely wait a few weeks to hopefully see a good release. My experience last fall was awful with 2 different Maxes not being able to provide usable service for me.

I'm on the 8+ and the IUP, so yea, I'll probs upgrade. I'll own my 8+ by August so I'll most likely trade that in for a new iPad and start a new IUP with the 2019 XS Max equivalent.

Struggling to decide whether to trade my X in, in a couple of weeks for an XR or XS Max or wait till September.
Don't do it. If you have a X it's not worth it. Not that big of a difference. Wait and upgrade when apple announces new phones.

What don't you like about the Max? I have one too and find practically nothing to complain about. If the charger bothers you... It's really not that expensive to buy a usb-c pd charger and a lightning-usb-c cable, plus the charger works with the MacBooks, iPad pro, Nintendo switch, Sony x1000-m3 headphones etc.

The 6s+ still works ok, I agree, but it has massive bezels on the top and bottom. Personally full screen minus a notch beats that any day for me.

nope, my 6s+ works fine and without a notch.

If all we’re getting is another camera and a slight spec bump no. My plan is to pay off my current phone. The next realistic upgrade for me would be 5G and a notchless phone maybe in a few years. Of course I say that and I’m sure I’ll be lined up in October lol.

I would say the triple lens camera seems promising, hopefully with low light improvements, likely VR rendering, ect. I think if somebody truly is looking for a *major* camera upgrade, the 2019 iPhone likely is slated to bring that.

This year's phone got a bit less attractive knowing qualcomm is coming back in 2020. I'll still probably upgrade though, particularly if the camera delivers.

Lol I can related but I really need to stop buying phones every year.

A lot will but it’s getting harder for people to justify each year.

I think there’s more reason to upgrade this year than what was out last year.
