None in Dallas sadly. :(

I guess I could just trust online and always do returns!

I prefer larger watches in the 42-46mm range and really like the looks of these. I got my first traditional watch in over 20 years this weekend as a present from my wife for Father's day. It is only a Fossil but I really like the look of it and not sure how well regarded Fossil watches are around here or by watch connoisseurs. :)

Well, the fashion these days is for absolutely monstrous watches.

If you take a look at the men's watches from the time of the Second World War, some were quite small (possibly to protect them from damage in combat).

However, what would have been a decently sized man's watch until around twenty years ago, (33-35mm) is now considered relatively small, and preferred sizes have mushroomed.

Personally, my taste doesn't run to massive watches, or - worse - loud and garish - ones. But, each to their own. Watches, and personal preferences in watches, are a very personal, and frankly, rather subjective thing.

I agree with you as I do not like the super oversized looking ones but I am 6'4 and have hands on the bigger side along with my wrists so a 46 to me is like a 40 to most if you will.

I really like the look of the Skagen watches and found out they sell them at Nordstrom's so I will check those out.

Fair enough.

My hands are quite small, so a 33, 34, or 35 looks perfect; anything larger dwarfs my wrist, but as you age, you tend to learn a bit about what flatters you, and what looks well on you.

In your case, I can well imagine that a larger watch would be what you need.

Not expensive but, it is a 2009 limited edition.
Was £80 when new in 2009 but my fiancee bought for £20 in a jewelers locally.

Ordered another nato strap for my omega (not my pic but exactly my setup), it is nice to be able to swap a little.

A superb Seamaster - spoilt by the gaudy non-original strap (my very humble opinion of course). To see one of these with an original s/s bracelet would have had my heart racing. Probably not surprising from an Omega purist.

Yes, I have to say that I find myself in agreement with you on this.

An understated strap in leather, or an original bracelet would complement that watch wonderfully.

From previous posts some may recall that I'm a great fan of Omegas - especially Speedmasters.

About 15 years ago I was looking for an Omega 125 to add to my collection, and couldn't find a good one anywhere. The specialist dealer who had been assisting me, called to say he had something else that was equally exciting. Thinking he may have found a rare quartz Marine Chronometer, I hurried along to see him.

It wasn't an Omega. But it was somewhat unusual, and I loved the 'old girl' on first sight - wrinkles and all!
A Breitling Navitimer AOPA Chronograph.
I snapped this one up quickly as it looked all original. Note the fading numbers on the dial, which (like a sophisticated old lady) to me definitely adds to the charm.

Many would be tempted to have the dial reworked, but this would detract from the originality and reduce the value of these fascinating early Breitling Chronographs. The movement was in need of a little tender loving care, and I had it rebuilt last year. (Photo is prior to rework).
One interesting feature which wasn't mentioned when it was purchased, was an engraved logo on the back which shows that this was an Iraqi military pilots issue. This is my only Breitling, and it's a 'keeper'.

I have to agree, i just returned it because it looked aweful in person and the quality was bad.. Got it on reccomendation, but i guess thats what you get for not buying original.

Guess i will be sticking with my original bracelet and the bond nato strap (as shown in this thread earlier). Will save up a little and get one of the other original NATO straps, although i find the pricing is steep.

I also like the idea of a leather strap, thanks for that scepticalscribe! Any recommendations? I guess original is the way to go ;)

I think they look good on a NATO but you need to stay subtle with the colours. You wouldn't spoil it with the other 'Bond' colours.

Thanks, i really like almost all of the original ones, especially the one you just posted. However i think some of them are too similar for being a change.. Maybe leather really is the way to go so i would have the bracelet, a NATO and a leather. Guess one doesn't need more ;) (although enthusiasts here might disagree)

This is my baby, and the watch that killed off my affair with the Apple Watch, as I couldn't bare having it sat in a box (sorry for the catalogue photo)

I'm with @Dowjohnny and others who have posted on this matter.

This is a classic watch - it doesn't need a NATO strap - that is for the more modern, outsize, garish,'bling bling' monsters, if you want to make that point.

To my (admittedly prejudiced) eye, classic Seamsters need either 1) a plain, but good quality leather strap or 2) a bracelet.

Omega don't agree, they sell it and the Speedmaster with a NATO strap included.

And if it's good enough for James Bond to wear, who are we to argue. :D

Do you have a recommendation for a leather strap? There is a really nice one in a smooth light brown that also comes stock with the seamaster in some configurations.

Actually, I will, (beg to differ) and the James Bond thing doesn't move me in the slightest.

I think that elegance doesn't need to be supported by unnecessary macho stuff. As for what Omega sell, if it sells, and they are selling an image and a perceived lifestyle, well, then, expect to see it on sale.

Personally, - irrespective of 'fashion' and James Bond - I don't think that a NATO strap suits that watch. Now, granted, to a limited extent, it suits the watch Sean Connery is wearing, because that is a 'louder' watch - and, as you can see, is a Rolex (one, that, as it happens, I don't much care for - by then, Rolex was already clearly moving away from the 'classic' understated look that I like so much).

Likewise, the watch that Daniel Craig is wearing is an Omega - but the watch face is 'loud' enough to carry off the NATO strap, not entirely successfully, in my view, but it will work.

Now, the Omega Speedmaster posted by @OllyW has a more 'classic' and subdued (and, to my mind, stylish) watch face. Yes, of course the watch can take a NATO strap. It is just that I think a leather one, or a bracelet would complement it so much better.

Go classic, plain, very high quality, and understated. Black or brown, and you won't go wrong.

That's the beauty of the Seamaster, Speedmaster and Submariner ranges, they are all rugged tool watches not delicate dress watches so they look great on a bracelet and also on leather or a NATO strap.

The top one looks a bit too formal for my likes but would probably improve over time as it wears in. I do like the aged leather straps Tudor use on the Black Bays.

A pleasure. And I have enjoyed this thread a lot, too; besides, it is always good to exchange opinions - not all of us share the same aesthetic sense, and it would be very boring if we did.

Couldn't help wondering if any ladies read this thread. I certainly haven't gone back through 3,848 posts to check, but I can't recall any ladies posting photos of their watches.
Come on girls, don't be shy. Post your favourite timepiece here. No Smartwatches please!

I'm sure that a few of us who can lay claim to being Daughters of Eve had dropped in occasionally.

Anyway, since you ask, I am female, but my camera is a Leica M6 (one that runs on film) and I don't have a smart phone, or even a camera phone, (my phone is an antique Nokia - the wonderfully indestructible 3510 which works perfectly well well over a decade since I acquired it), so no pictures, alas.

However, my watch is an Omega Deville, a 34mm, stainless steel, with dauphine hands, sweep seconds and a date function; it has Arabic numerals on the 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 - rather than the more usual quadrant pattern, and closely resembles those beautiful classic watches from the mid 50s to mid 60s with its timeless appeal and understated elegance.
