I wanted a little extra screen real estate.
I love the portability of my Air. I wouldn’t mind trying the larger 15” version but I’d have to see how it feels in my hands compared with the 13”. I had a 24” iMac but I didn’t like being attached to a desk and chair. For work or if I was doing a serious project I would definitely want a larger 24” or 27” screen on a desk.

I'll preorder a M4 MB Air in 15" with 24GB and 1TB SDD in the most crazy color they offer. So likely their gold version unless they do me a favor and release it in all iMac colors and then I'm torn between green and yellow, or pink, or red, but blue is also cool........
My current MacBook pro is a Mid 2015 model with 16 GB ram, not sure f I upgraded it to 1TB or bought it with 1TB. It had a main board failure due to a dedicated GPU failure and the motherboard was replaced under warranty. That also fixed the non-functional bluetooth on the machine. Then the GPU started failing again outside the warranty period so I use a software tool to shut the dedicated GPU off. Then the battery started to bloat until it warped the case. So I exchanged the battery myself with an OWC kit for around 100 bucks. The MBP is still working well but it overheats sometimes at some websites. I think the Mac OS is just not optimally supporting the intel cpu anymore. Mostly I'm concerned now that the MBP will fail soon catastrophically. I usually have one new laptop as workhorse and the old one as backup machine. Right now I'm without backup machine on an end of life machine as workhorse. Time to spend money. ;)

Why not MacBook Pro in your case «Time to spend money. ;)»

All this based on Tim Cook tweeting a video with the word AIR… Seriously people that’s making up a lot of things from one word. Yes it might be an M4 Air or it might be an iPhone Air. It might be the new AirFryer. I wouldn’t get your hopes up that much.

Sounds like a nightmare. All my macs have been flawless I mean in the literal sense they’ve never failed not even once.

It’d be cool if the new airs have imac colors

But it's not just people making something out of one word. The whole tagline "There's something in the Air" was used. The exact same tagline as the original announcement for the 2008 Macworld Keynote when the MacBook Air was announced. I think it's not only a pretty safe bet that it will be new MacBook Airs, but I also won't be surprised if they say something like, "The all new MacBook Air...Our most revolutionary MacBook Air since the original."

Maybe even, "We think you're going to love it".

I've gotten used to an 18" laptop screen, so no. 15" would simply be too cramped.

I notices there is a wedge shape in the tease air word. Significant? Probably not.
No, I don’t think the wedge shape you perceive is significant at all. My point was that I don’t think the recycling of that specific wording was a coincidence and that the expectation of a MacBook Air announcement is a stretch of logic, as the person I replied to was saying.

Does anybody know if the extra 10% tarif on stuff from China affects the MBair prices? Or are the MacBook Airs already here in the US and it only affects the ones shipped in the future? And is Apple eating up that 10% or do we pay that? So many questions.....

I hope you’re right, but again there’s also rumors about an iPhone Air. It just seems weird since only one year ago they released the current model of the Air. Why were they even bother if they were going to replace it in a year? Think about how long they kept the M1 iMac going for.

With the level of hype in that tweet, it can’t just be M4 or some spec bump on the display. It has to be a redesign. Maybe they are going back to the wedge shape that a lot of people were upset about when Apple changed it.

Just by looking at the buyers guide here on MacRumors, the average days between releases for the MacBook Air is 411 days. In 2018, 19, and 2020 it was less than a year for each release so I think it fits. I wouldn't expect to see the iPhone Air until the fall when they have their regular phone releases.

I am fully willing to admit I could be wrong though. Maybe Apple will surprise me.

I am not but I utterly adored my M2 air, such a fantastic portable machine that is far more powerful than people realized. I loved that machine.
I have a pro for work and an M2 Air for personal use.

The M2 air is one of my favorite form factors ever. Even over the pros. I only wish I didn’t buy base spec.

YES! (but only on my dreams because money is scarce and I just bought an M3 5 months ago.)
Also make it a 15 inch, 521GB, because fantasy money grows on trees.

definitely ordering
made the mistake from going from midnight to silver and i dont like it
going back to midnight and keeping it that way
also getting it because of the M4 chip of course

Mr. Mark said that M4 MacBook Airs are coming any day now.

I'll be pre-ordering a 13" 16/512 Midnight model the second I get the chance. Who's with me?
Got an M3 Pro Space Black MacBook Pro.
Definitely no need to get an Air. ;)

I'll probably wait a few days to see if, there are some new caveats, but then I'll probably get a 10core GPU/24GB (maybe 32 if available) and 1 TB of storage.

Still not sure, which color to get. midnight is nice, but I recently saw a few silver ones which I pretty much liked. They should also cool a little better in direct sublight.

I have the M3 version with those specs so I’ll sit tight.

I was thinking about a buying a framework but the MacBook Airs are just so beautiful and the touchpads are soo nice

Yeah, nobody has been able to match Apple's touchpads, that's for sure! We'll see what Apple releases - I might end up getting scared of ditching MacOS and give my deposit back to Framework.

HaHaHa 😂 well, good thing I could admit that I might be wrong. They pulled a whammy.
