You don’t feel like the display is a big downgrade?
Thats what I was worried about as well. But the weight and heft of the pro was really an issue for me. I do wish the Air came with Mini LED. I know in a few years it will get OLED.

But if the two are not side by side, you dont notice the difference. I was more concerned with the 60Hz and annimations being laggy but it hasnt been overtly noticeble.

Ultimately, the size and portability are more important for me at this time.

Mine got delivered. A few more hours to transfer data from my old MBP. So far I like it. The blue is very faint. I would call it silver with a blue hue. It looks nice but is not a color that pops out. Screen quality is definitely good but my old eye can’t say if it’s on par with a MBP. I don’t care. It’s very good. I added a blue iPad Air M3 and some household blue items to show the color. I will try to get better pics tomorrow in sunlight.

It was much faster using a thunderbolt or usc c cable to connect the two computers. Impressively fast actually.
I used SuperDuper to backup my old machine to a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 external SSD. I am restoring from that drive to the new machine. It just finished moving around 650GB of data.

I was at the Apple store today checking out the sky blue color (I like it!), and did my typical comparison with the MBP. I definitely notice the smoothness of ProMotion, but I don't feel the screen is otherwise night and day different, at least to my eyes. I'm still bummed the nano-texture isn't an option on the Air, but ultimately I think that'll be the direction I go. As others have said, if you need a Pro you get the Pro, but ultimately the size and weight of the Air is what ends up mattering the most for me.

Regardless, it's nice to have options!

Ordered a few hours ago and picking up tomorrow morning. Sky Blue 15-inch 16/512. Not doing a migration this time since I saved my stuff on my Synology and just doing a new setup. Got $125 for my MBP early 2015 - an extra $50 for their incentive program.

I just ordered the 13" Air M4 in silver. It will be my very first Apple Silicon MacBook I've ever tested. I can't wait to see the difference in macOS running between the older Intel models (that old Intel we never want to see again) and this latest model! It must be phenomenal. o_O

I got the silver color; for me, it's an excellent color that never goes wrong, although I have no doubt the new sky blue is truly beautiful...

Bravo Apple, you're still hitting the competition hard with the falling price, this new color, and the ever-increasing performance of your chips, which are becoming truly insanely powerful...

I use Carbon Copy Cloner to back up my old Mac to an external drive. It’s amazing how quickly Migration Assistant works with a physical drive attached.

Tomshardware did an ssd speed test on the 13” m4 air and it’s read speeds were almost half of last years model. But the 15” was still the same speed. Any news about this?
What were the capacities? It’s possible Apple went back to a single 256GB module to cut costs. They are likely absorbing the tariffs for now.

That is because promotion is variable refresh rate and doesn’t activate full power - only in safari like apps when constantly scrolling.

144hz difference when always on is quite jarring on windows versus macbook air. Pro vs Air not so much.

Just returned wife's new M4 16/512 MBA 15 this morning at the Apple Store. Nothing wrong with it other than we ordered an identical one from Costco instead (arriving today) to have peace of mind of the 90-day return policy since this is my wife's first Macbook and first experience with MacOS. While in the store, I snapped a few comparison photos of the Sky Blue. The blue is more faint head-on and more distinct at an angle. Beautiful color. Enjoy!

Got mine today - same config. Coming from an Intel MBP I decided to setup new and just iCloud. Everything works great except one thing.

Adding my Capital One Visa card to the wallet can’t get verified from them. Didn’t realize it was not an Apple issue until I researched the internet. Seems they require their installed app for the verification and there is none for the Mac. Apple support was helpful.

Coming from an base 2020 Intel Macbook Air(i3, 8GB, 256GB).

Laptop works fine, but its getting slow, and battery life is not so good anymore.

Really eyeing that M4, 16GB, 512GB variant.

Currently have a maxed out 2020 13" 4 port Intel MBP (i7 2.3GHz, 32GB, 2TB). It's showing it's age and I'm tired of the battering draining so rapidly (even though it has about 85% original max charge). Given the performance of the M chips I decided I didn't need a pro this time around and just ordered a 13" M4 MBA with 24GB RAM and 1TB SSD. Will trade in the MBP. I imagine it will be a night and day difference and I don't think for my needs I really need the pro. The most processor intensive thing I will likely do is editing some 4K GoPro videos from ski trips. I also plan to run Windows 11 ARM via Parallels occasionally.

I recall having similar trouble adding my wife's Capital One Venture X card to her iPhone. Since her card is an "authorized user" card, with her own Capital One app and account, she had to log in as the primary account holder (me) to authenticate before her card can be added to Apple Pay. That was not obvious at all in the beginning.

You’ll be in for a treat. It’s a significant upgrade.

Had problems when I got the new iPhone back in September but it was resolved with a phone call. If you google Capital One Apple Pay on a Mac you can see it’s been a known issue for quite a while.

Will be doing the same for the same reason (although from a 2019 MBP with 8gb, not quite the 32gb you had..)

The M1 MBA was probably better than it, so I expect the M4 to blow it out the window

Plus I’d never even consider a Pro again until they redesign it and make it way less chunky and more like the 2019 touchbar design

You can use the iOS app to verify or receive a phone call for verification.

I am able to add Capital One to my wallet.
