Mac Mini M1 - 16GB - 256GB - MacOS Sequoia - 27" DELL C2722DE

IMG_3350.jpeg

As I have also an A1312 27" (2011) with 2560x1440 and Brightness HDR400 I'm very selective to find an
adequate monitor for Mac Mini M1. It should have min. 2560x1440 and at least 27", height adjustable with
useable internal loudspeakers ! :apple: Bonus is internal WebCam, Microfone, USB and USB-C 3.1 / 3.2 Hub for
additional external NVME SSD up to +1000MB/sec... DELL C2722DE Conference Monitor !

I've look for Gaming Monitors, but Mac Mini have only HDMI Output of 60Hz, so you don't need an Alienware
Monitor - alternatively select EIZO, ASUS ProArt or such another Monitor with HDR400 / HDR600 / HDR1000
(Xiaomi MiniLED or Sony) ?

Sometimes it should be good to select an 24" iMac M1 (Retina resolution should be great, but not 24") !

Another solution: in a few years hopefully you can take a Mac Mini M1 in your rucksack to visit friends as a
64Bit "Classic Game console" (STEAM / Batocera / RISC PC / AMIGA Emulator), don't forget the Gamepads...

;) ...but today we make some serious work with Apple 😄

Yeah, that's exactly why. Or in case the update messes up the already installed surveillance software that the school requires. Being on Sequoia isn't worth having to repeat a semester of medical school if something goes wrong, or the added stress of rebuilding a computer over a weekend.
I feel you on that front. The two computers I rely on in my classroom are generally a major version behind each year because stability > latest features for a tool that's relied on daily. I have some machines I go hog-wild on updates with day one, but those are not the ones I rely on for work.

Still use my M1 Max 32/2TB.
I upgraded quite often in the past, but right now I simply have no reason. It does everything I need.
same here, i can get the new mac mini but the m1 does everything nicely and fast, even with sequoias,
even with AI tab is set to OK allow, i have not seen anything alien or Roswell yet!

My only complaint now with my M1 Max Mac Studio is that Microsoft Office 365 is moaning at me that it needs to be upgraded but it can't because my OS (macOS Monterey) is too old. Office keeps running though... so it is an irritation not a deal breaker; I will carry on. When it finally stops working, I will have to upgrade my OS, but not my machine.

Seems like that's more of a complaint from Microsoft Office 365's compatibility with Monterey, an older OS you're choosing to stay on, than it is an M1 Max Mac Studio "issue". That hardware supports macOS 15.3.1 which would support the current version of Microsoft Office 365.

Yeah idk why people have a problem with updating their computer when it has the update available for free and takes less than an hour. Most Mac OS updates don't break any features.

Well, I for one have a problem with upgrading computer OS'. These upgrades do tend to break things, and when you have everything set up exactly as you like, why mess with it? Then there is the "dollars and cents" issue - there are multiple programs I used almost daily that have specific program versions for specific macOS versions, and the upgrades from one to the next are not free, so it costs $$ as well. Why spend money that doesn't have to be spent?

There is also a "who is in charge?" issue here. It is my computer and my software. I resent having third party vendors like Microsoft come along and tell me that I have to upgrade or else. If I CHOOSE to upgrade for some other reason, that is a whole different matter, but being almost forced to upgrade (and Microsoft Office 365, even though I am paying monthly for it, has turned into nagware, telling me every time I start any of the applications that I need to upgrade) REALLY annoys me.

... if it ain't broke, don't fix it!...

I have a 2021 14” M1 Pro MacBook Pro (base SKU), and the only reason I’m probably going to upgrade to an M4 (or M5, or M6, depending on how long I procrastinate about it) will be to bump the screen size to 16”.

I use it for general web stuff, a little light Blender and Live Home 3D, and for Microsoft Office. It’s more than adequate for these workflows.

Because (for me) sequoia is designed specially for children with system settings like their iPhones
and purple fluffy emojis that can be pasted while chatting about 'where they at' with Jennifer and megan
instead of Monterey features such as file finder windows and system preferences
with adjusting icons i can actually see in a second.

I just use my M1 14" as a daily driver. I haven't tried anything else. For me it's internet, multimedia (plex/youtube/netflix) and really that's about it. Have to admit I've been looking for a reason to upgrade and can't. I even have a $600 credit with apple and can't find a reason to get rid of the thing. I can't tell if I'm just old now and not longer always needing the new new or what. How is yours treating you or if you've traded in how's the new unit. Was it worth it or no real reason to upgrade?
I’ve two M1 Max studios and a m1 mba. All still working wonderfully.

well i have been using ONLY both M1 Macbook air and mini with enjoyment
and functionality these past 2 weeks as they function as well as unboxed years ago.
perhaps a leap to sequoia on the MBA might be on the horizon?

( i can ignore the purple fluffy emojis and use that as a computer?)

I’m still loving my 16”, 32GB RAM/1TB SSD, 10 Core CPU/32 Core GPU M1 Max MacBook Pro. It’s the best Mac I've owned, and for my use I will need a design change to "warrant" an upgrade. 😄 And the prices on the best MacBooks in Norway are getting ridiculously high. Paid 41990NOK for the M1 Max. The same config M4 Max is 59490NOK. A 40 percent price increase!

I have a M1 Max Mac Book Pro 16.2", with 10-Core CPU, 32-Core GPU, 64 GB of RAM, and a 4TB SSD. It was bought from Apple's Refurbished Store in December of 2022. Ten months later they had released an M2 and M3 models of Mac Book Pro, so it' not really old. I love the superb performance , silent operation, and awesome battery-life. It does everything that I need it to do, silently, and even the M2 and M3 models have more noise from the fans, since they basically boosted Clock-speed. I may not even need a new Mac Book Pro even when the M5 or M6 models are released. I had a 17" Mac Book Pro, that had Graphics Card problems while Apple abandoned their loyal Customers, and the performance jump in all categories was tremendous, and i don't have a need to upgrade, at all.

m1 macbook air here purchased March 2021... 4 years later it still feels snappy. Kind of annoyed as I'd like an excuse to get an M4 but don't feel the need!
I'm with you! I'm still using my M1 MBP from November 2020, and am planning on replacing the Battery at some point this Summer...

I was also really hoping I'd be upgrading to a newer MBP with more Memory and Storage, but this thing runs great. Maybe eventually I'll get something newer and then hand this one down (with the newer battery) to my Daughter.

It’s funny cos my batter would be described as “heavily degraded” yet it still lasts around 4-5 hours easily when not plugged in. Even more if there’s no video content on the go. These things are tanks.

Yes! I'm still getting 4-5 hours on battery, too. It's making it pretty difficult to upgrade!
