I feel you on that front. The two computers I rely on in my classroom are generally a major version behind each year because stability > latest features for a tool that's relied on daily. I have some machines I go hog-wild on updates with day one, but those are not the ones I rely on for work.Yeah, that's exactly why. Or in case the update messes up the already installed surveillance software that the school requires. Being on Sequoia isn't worth having to repeat a semester of medical school if something goes wrong, or the added stress of rebuilding a computer over a weekend.
same here, i can get the new mac mini but the m1 does everything nicely and fast, even with sequoias,Still use my M1 Max 32/2TB.
I upgraded quite often in the past, but right now I simply have no reason. It does everything I need.
Seems like that's more of a complaint from Microsoft Office 365's compatibility with Monterey, an older OS you're choosing to stay on, than it is an M1 Max Mac Studio "issue". That hardware supports macOS 15.3.1 which would support the current version of Microsoft Office 365.My only complaint now with my M1 Max Mac Studio is that Microsoft Office 365 is moaning at me that it needs to be upgraded but it can't because my OS (macOS Monterey) is too old. Office keeps running though... so it is an irritation not a deal breaker; I will carry on. When it finally stops working, I will have to upgrade my OS, but not my machine.
Yeah idk why people have a problem with updating their computer when it has the update available for free and takes less than an hour. Most Mac OS updates don't break any features.Seems like that's more of a complaint from Microsoft Office 365's compatibility with Monterey, an older OS you're choosing to stay on, than it is an M1 Max Mac Studio "issue". Seems like it is broke, though, for you.... if it ain't broke, don't fix it!..
Because (for me) sequoia is designed specially for children with system settings like their iPhonesYeah idk why people have a problem with updating their computer when it has the update available for free and takes less than an hour. Most Mac OS updates don't break any features.
I’ve two M1 Max studios and a m1 mba. All still working wonderfully.I just use my M1 14" as a daily driver. I haven't tried anything else. For me it's internet, multimedia (plex/youtube/netflix) and really that's about it. Have to admit I've been looking for a reason to upgrade and can't. I even have a $600 credit with apple and can't find a reason to get rid of the thing. I can't tell if I'm just old now and not longer always needing the new new or what. How is yours treating you or if you've traded in how's the new unit. Was it worth it or no real reason to upgrade?
I'm with you! I'm still using my M1 MBP from November 2020, and am planning on replacing the Battery at some point this Summer...m1 macbook air here purchased March 2021... 4 years later it still feels snappy. Kind of annoyed as I'd like an excuse to get an M4 but don't feel the need!
Yes! I'm still getting 4-5 hours on battery, too. It's making it pretty difficult to upgrade! It’s funny cos my batter would be described as “heavily degraded” yet it still lasts around 4-5 hours easily when not plugged in. Even more if there’s no video content on the go. These things are tanks.
