Nope. The 12.9 iPad Pro is every two years with back to back in 2017 and 2018 being the only exception. Its gone 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2020. The only reason the smaller iPad Pro got more updates was they couldn't decide what size they wanted to make it. It went from 9.7 in 2016, to 10.5 in 2017 and then when they finally decided on 11 inches in 2018, it didn't update again until 2020. There most likely won't be a 2021 iPad Pro release, will be 2022
You are not even considering that these iPads came in different periods of the year. There was 1.5 year between the 2017 and 2018 pro and 1.5 year between the 2018 and 2020. So it's a 1.5 years cycle not 2 years. And the fact that they even did a 2020 upgrade despite hardly upgrading the SOC means that they didn't want to wait more than 18 months. But now they need an upgrade to prepare developers for pro apps and iPadOS 15, so they cannot continue with a basically 2.5 years SOC, when they have an A14X (=M1) ready since last year. iPad pro is coming this month, whether there is an even or just press releases / site updates. All reliable leakers converge on this.

They dont leak anything. They basically confirm things we already know. Prosser "leaked" Apple announcing the SE on the same day it happened lol. Thats not a leak. A leak would be them telling us if there will be a March Apple event or not and if so, what day. Like now, not the day before it happens when we already knew that.
Prove it then. You seem to be more interested in discrediting legitimate people for your own random gain.

Do your research, both Prosser and Gurman are credible leakers. How did Jon Prosser know about AirPods Max, months in advance? How has Gurman leaked things for years and been very accurate?

There is a pandemic going on, Apple won’t do an in person event at the moment. They may just do a press release or film a short video presentation, they may not of even decided themselves yet. It’s not like they have to send out invites to the press in advance.

If they were good leakers, we would already know when the March Apple event is, its March. We would also know what's being released. They dont know anything.

Yes we do know what will be released, Jon Prosser said so during his latest YouTube video. You really don’t understand how it works.

Good leakers don't know every detail. Even insiders don't know everything... And some things are changed only a few weeks or even days before they happen
exactly, Tim Cook is the only one who truely knows. he is the one who could pull it at any moment.

We do? An iPad Pro and Airtags? You mean like the Airtags he’s been saying is coming for years now?

Prosser notwithstanding, the Gurman video from last week pretty much confirms a slightly thicker iPad Pro with mini LED display, 5G, and something akin to an A14x SOC coming before June 2021

In my mind those types of videos are as much Apple informally setting expectations for the year as it is backdoor leaking from sources in Apple

You really need to do your research. Airtags were delayed due to COVID. iPad Pro, Airtags and a new Magic Keyboard are what Prosser has confirmed. Go look at his and Mark Gurman track record, on their own they are good, but when both confirm something it's highly likely it will happen.

Last years iPad Pro was press release, however with COVID and the fact that Apple won't do an in person event, all they need to do is film a short presentation (like last years events).

If Prosser and Mark Gurman are not accurate leakers, explain AirPods Max? how did Prosser know the exact begin and the realise date? how did he know that the iPhone SE was going to be released on an exact date at an exact time. That is impressive.

He posted about the SE a whole 8 days before it’s release, we already knew about it here lol. The only times they are right is when they post something we already know. They are always wrong when they go outside of that.

He provided far greater details than what we already knew. He provided the specific day and time of release (both of which ended up being correct).

You really don’t understand do you. Prosser confirmed the SE and even gave a date and time it would release. The AirPods Max he gave out renders before they even released and then gave a date.

Even then, an iPad Pro wont be worth twice the price of an Air 4. Apple kind of boxed themselves in with that. Gone are the days where the Airs were crippled in some way. The Airs are so good now, there really is no reason to go with a Pro iPad ...

... except for if you really, really want the bigger 12,9“ screen (which is for me the most important feature by far).

Why do people keep saying the 2018 and 2020 Pros (virtually the same) are not as fast as the Air 4? why?... um I tested and compared the Air 4 and my 2018 Pro... and the 2018 smoked it all tasks, (not just heavy ones, it booted a few seconds faster too... maybe the A14 opened this one app or did this one thing. I don't know, but TBH... I want them to skip the A14X and do the A15X as the A14 seems to get hotter than the A10 did. The Air 4is by no means, slower, but it is less capable to do what the Pros can, @me all you want. jk ;)

smoked by up to.... 10%... ? Start-up is not just a matter of CPU speed, there are also others things involved like storage (and it's very likely that the pro is faster there). We are again where we where with the pro 10.5 and the air 3, A10X vs A12.... Not exactly the same comparison, but not very different. That is, speed is so close that it doesn't matter which one is faster at what. The pro is not better because of speed, it loses somewhere and wins somewhere else, but it's better because of essentially everything else...and even if they had the same chip the price difference would be justified IMO... but some people only tend to look at speed...
As for air 4 running hot, I have no idea, but it's surprising giving it is on a smaller node...
Anyway there is no way that Apple skips A14X at this point, and there may not be any A15X at all (as there was no A13X or A11X)

Not what I was saying at all for the record, but what I was implying is that for those users who need faster than an Air 4 - you most likely what the bigger screen as well. The overlap in functionality between the Air and smaller pro to me is enough that I don't honestly see a legitimate reason for the smaller Pro to exist, now that the Air has comparable performance and peripheral support.

I just don't see the point of the 11" Pro, given I've spent the past 3 years with a 10.5" Pro.

I wouldn’t touch the Air but I’ve had both the 2018 and 2020 11” Pro. The screen is just so much better on the Pro and the RAM situation as well.

I don’t see the point of the Air except for people on a tight budget, but then they wouldn’t need the magic keyboard support and might as well get the normal iPad for even less.

Its smaller, lighter and cheaper than the iPad Pro and it has a better processor. The Pro is a complete waste of money unless you NEED a pro motion display, most dont. The same way the iPhone 12 is outselling the iPhone 12 Pro, and by a ton. Its not worth the extra money.

I mean it is all down to the beholder isn’t it? The Pro is a lot better in 2 of the more important areas, screen and RAM. So unless you have a tight budget I would recommend people to grab the Pro over the Air as the price difference isn’t that great.

Air 4 maxes out at 256GB while the Pro offers 512GB and 1TB models. I'm at ~50GB free on a 512GB iPad Pro 10.5 so unless Apple ups the storage options on the Air, I hope they keep selling the 11" Pro. Granted, I'm personally not interested in the 2020 Pros (not unless they get a hefty discount).

Add to that speakers (also the mentioned smaller and lighter make no sense when considering the 11 pro, while the 12.9 and the air do not target the same people since there is no air 12.9...)
