I haven’t used an iPad in a while. Just picked up a new pro with the keyboard and honestly I probably could get away with just this setup. Just an hour in, and I already feel like I can navigate just as well as I do on my Mac. I truly am surprised at how easy the UI is to navigate. I’ll probably make my laptop my “desktop” and just roll with this is a laptop.

That’s exactly what I did. 👍🏻 I got the M1 iPad Pro, (I want to upgrade to the M4 sometime soon), and once I started using it back in 2021, I practically stopped using my MacBook altogether. Now I have an M1 Mac Mini setup as my desktop, and use my iPad Pro as my laptop. I mostly use my Mac Mini for saving local backups of my iPad, managing external storage drives so I can access them remotely (NAS), and for a few other niche things. 99.9% of my computer use is now on my iPad, even my professional graphic design work, 3D modeling/sculpting, etc. 👍🏻

It’s basically a giant iPhone so it’s operating system and apps are watered down. I honestly wish iPad Os was an overlay or a touch mode for Mac OS like windows 8’s desktop/tablet mode (it was poorly implemented by Microsoft but a good idea).

He did not say what iPad OS 18 would do, did he? Still wishful thinker and has been since iPad M1. Sales plummeting? Not updating a device for >year has an impact. WWDC will be interesting though.

What is he saying what is wrong with iPadOS if it just an rant and not saying any thing what is wrong with iPadOS?

I should have just bought an iPad Air 😔

That's what I did. I wanted an iPad for tablet things, not laptop things, so I traded in my 13 2tb ($2600) for an iPad Air 11 1tb ($1200). Same uses, for half the price. Though I do miss FaceTime.

I'm happy with the Home Screen customisation. I think it's more useful on the iPad than on the iPhone.

Personally don't care about more multitasking but would have been nice to get some updates for the files app

I had low expectation that Apple would address a few of the well documented pain points in iPadOS and they lived down to it...

I don't use Stage Manager (I do use Split View a lot). My main issue with iPadOS is files - it is a pain to download, send, share, and edit files across apps. That should be fixed.

a calculator and a couple features to sell pencils to non artists. that's it. literally.

The maths notes are really impressive and al features are huge but yes very much a great tablet as expected and not pushed more for a laptop usage

I will be honest I had my doubts with what the new iPad OS will give us but then I thought "Why would Apple put this M4 chip and offer us up to 16GB of ram if they weren't going to have a OS that needed that much power"

As I was watching the keynote I was so disappointed that the new OS offers us very little change and then we broke into Apple Intelligence which dont get me wrong is really cool as I am a daily user of ChatGPT however when Tim said as long as you have a M1 device you can use the Ai features was kinda a kick in the gut.

I love my Oled iPad but my M1 suited me just fine for my needs in the terms of horsepower.

Same here but the lighter weight and the OLED are big upgrades for me personally. looking forward to these notes changes as my handwriting looks like Egyptian hieroglyphs

Same here. I bought the M4 13" with zero expectations from WWDC. The only thing that caught my eye was iMessaging over satellite when cell coverage is unavailable. I wonder how close it will be to something like inReach from Garmin.

Remember, a lot of times there have been several extra improvements that have been added that weren’t announced in the keynote. They had a lot of ground to cover with Apple Intelligence, so there will likely be several things that either weren’t mentioned, or were only skimmed over.
