I really don't agree with the reasoning. 3% of Apple's 233 MILLION iPhone sales in 2021 would be nearly 7 MILLION iPhone minis sold. That's not "nobody buying them"!

Maybe that's not enough for Apple to keep producing them. Up to them of course. I just mean to point out that 3% of a lot can still be a lot.

Yeah, I agree, under that premise, Apple should keep manufacturing it while adding a regular bigger iPhone to the lineup, but as we already know, the regular iPhone 14 is keeping the A15 SoC, so it wouldn’t make sense to launch a slightly tweaked 14 mini. They will probably keep manufacturing the 13 mini and keep it on the lineup, along with the iPhone 14, 14 Max (both using the A15) the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max (both with the A16 SoC).

I’d really like Apple to make an iPhone 15 mini with the A17 (3nm) and the new display, hopefully with the new QD OLED, flicker free, with better vision angle and without PMW, but at this point, that’s just wishful thinking.

All I know is, I will never buy another iPhone with a larger form factor than the mini’s. End of story. I will survive on a 13 mini until it’s literally impossible. I hate big phones with a passion. Shouldn’t have exceeded iPhone X size and even that is too much.

Same, but I'm even more extreme as I refuse to budge off the size of the SE1..

I don't really care about the screen size, but rather the physical size, and I'd personally like the Mini to be juuuust a touch more "mini"

I've honestly even had my eye on the Jelly 2 phone if I needed to make a move today

I flat out refuse to get something larger than the Mini and even the Mini itself, I'm just not "excited about". Maybe I would go to one, but not at the price they want for it. I just don't value the phone experience overall enough to justify it.

I sort of wish they'd make 2 sizes of SE -- a small and a large.

The Mini, if not compared to sales of other more popular iPhones, is actually a successful product that sells well.

It's really frustrating that Apple is SO bent on bean counting to the n-th degree that they won't keep making products like the Mini that, while a bit niche, do sell well and serve many customers and make lots of people very specifically happy.

For most people their phones are their main computers. The Mini is just too cramped for most people in 2022.

But not all -- not even close to all from a numbers standpoint.

The mini sells very well, just not "as well" as modern Apple apparently would like.

It's frustrating that even a company with Apples resources and ethos might not keep around a product that sells well and serves many of their customers with their specific needs.

The 13 mini is currently the only iPhone in the lineup with a 2-3 week lead time. 3-4 weeks if you choose 256GB.

Tells you quite a bit about demand, given Apple is willing to cannibalize mini parts and sales to keep every other iPhone fully stocked.

Unfortunately Apple nowadays is not known for catering to consumer demands or for making the world a better place. Their only goal is to make as much money as possible by any means necessary.

To be fair, consumer demands and spending are closely aligned. It's not as if consumers are buying 6.1- and 6.7-inch out of spite when they secretly want 5.4-inch mini. Consumers are speaking to preferences with their money.

Spot on

It's just a money printer, at all costs and with little regard for anything else anymore.

It's not about "privacy" or "great user centric design" or "products that only Apple could make" ... none of that anymore.

It's just about money -- and as much of it as possible -- always

The soul of Apple has been lost

Steve Jobs famously ran Apple as a charity. This was why OS updates for the iPod touch used to cost money, and why people had to pay $5 to enable draft-N wireless on their Macs.

The iPhone Mini 13 came ~1 year after I had bought my XR, so I figured I wait a year or two and buy a Mini.
I don't buy phones every year.
Never really liked the XR. So before the Mini's disappear I will grasp one for sure.
It will fit into my old iPhone 4 wallet. Wonderful ♥️😍

If somehow, someway, defying all odds the iPhone Mini had an amazing battery life, it would sell LOTS more.
Doubt it. The vast majority simply want a larger screen. No one really wants a fiddly little display.

The iPhone 14 Max (non Pro model) will be a massive hit to prove the point.

I agree with you. Mind you, I don’t like the reality you’re depicting, because I think smartphones should have a reasonable size to fit in the pocket, to be used with one hand, and to quickly take a photo with the fast move of your hand without a high risk to drop it, but I have to agree with what you said: most people demand bigger and bigger screens.

That’s the trend, and unfortunately the few of us who really understand what’s an smartphone for (and what’s a tablet for, and what’s a netbook, a laptop and a desktop for), have to accept that reality we live in. I guess we’ll have to start carrying bags with us, and stopping on the street every time we want to use the smartphone because it will require us to use both hands.

There is also no telephoto camera lens. I heard the camera isn't that great either :(
At this point, all of our hopes in terms of photography are on the new 48MP sensors on the upcoming iPhones (I’m afraid only on the Pro lineup at first). The 12MP cameras on the 13 are great, don’t get me wrong, but in some situations the AI improvements made some pictures look awful, and that’s a setting we couldn’t disable.

Unfortunately, I don’t see how an iPhone mini could house 3 cameras. The fact that they could put the main camera from the 12 Pro Max inside the 13 mini body, while increasing the battery size, was truly a feat. The 13 mini is really a remarcable piece of engineering.
