By the way, I have no source on that assumption.. Just thinking it could be another selling point for the flagship phones...
I agree. There have been statements that the XR is 3 GB and the XS and Max are 4 GB but I see no definite source yet. But from a marketing and design perspective it makes sense.

And I don’t care. While 1 GB for the 6 Plus was quite limiting, 3 GB for an XR in 2018 is decent. That is the same as the X BTW.

Now if it turns out it only has 2 GB, that would give me pause but I would be shocked if it was only 2 GB.

Hell, my backup 6S only has 2gb of ram and it’s only 1 Mississippi slower than my X in performance..

I’m sure they did. But I suspect they also overestimated demand by a certain extent.

If I'm remembering correctly, isn't Apple expecting this gen to break the super cycle record of the iPhone 6 gen? If so, you can see why they've made so many phones.

I think the Xr is gonna be the hot ticket for sure!

I have 3 overpriced option available. All of them are too big for my preference. Why should I bother myself with an upgrade?

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like those prices are going to go anywhere but up. Unless enough people speak with their wallets. Which we know won't happen lol

A Oneplus 6T is better than the XR for all but the biggest android haters. There are options if people are willing to leave iOS.

I’ll speak with my wallet for as long as I can (as I did with waiting for the 2018 MacBook Pro since 2016 as 2016/2017 were a joke - I had to buy a MacBook Pro this year and I am quite satisfied. However, it is a work tool for me, in contrast to the iPhone where even the 5S does all what I need - I use the iOS simulator for the rest). But I really don’t know what I’ll do when the 5S dies.

If I trusted Google with privacy, I would consider switching. The issue is do not trust them. Such a pity that MS killed its WP. :(

The 6t is the sole reason I didn't pre order a Max.

I like to switch phones a lot. I'm currently using a 7 Plus. But I had a OnePlus 5 last year and other than the crap camera and sometimes lousy updates, it was an amazing phone. The 8gb of ram and oxygenos really allows Android to shine, in a damn good way!

The iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and Apple Watch Series 4, all sold out within 10-15 minutes here in the UK Apple Store.

Eh? I can still order one for delivery on the 21st (though if I want to use the iPhone upgrade program I have to wait).

I think it’ll be an XS for me (it’s bigger than I’d like but not that much bigger than my 6s but I really can’t go bigger) but if I buy it outright I think it’ll be when John Lewis has them. Basically, I’ll get one (and soon) but am undecided about how to buy.

This year, and this is my opinion of course, they missed the pricing.
The Xr it's the best option, why? Because the Xs price is wrong( do you think that there are $250 diff between lcd and oled display?)
it would be great , for us and for them, if they sell the Xs and Xs Max from 900 . Of course , maybe they already know that this year they will sell less, explaining why this price.
So Apple give us 2 options, buy the "real" Iphone for 1000 or buy the "cheaper" version that it cost the same to be produced than the "real". And for me that's a joke. Of course they are great phones, but i will keep my Iphone 8 another year

Did anyone really expect a £1k+ to sell out in the same manner as the iPhone 6 did in 2014 though? Let’s not forget there is much more choice in the range now and the new iPhone isn’t just the most expensive one anymore. As far as I can see all carriers are still selling the X and 8 series so it has plenty of competition within its own brand. Gone are the days of a single model coming out and everybody flocking to buy it.

They're definitely the visually ugliest and least ergonomic phones Apple has ever made. I have no idea if that factors in, but I certainly wouldn't use one of those monsters if you paid me. Wouldn't fit in my pockets or my hand!

o_OView attachment 781871 Why this year iphone sales slower than last year, remember last year preorder so crowd and sold out in a few minutes even after a day buyers are delayed 3-4 weeks comapring now still available pickup 9/21 and 1-2 weeks ship, is it reasonable price too high or no one like new look or no money something ???

:apple:

Last year the faceid module and oled display were severely constrained at launch, one of the reasons the iPhone X shipped in November and not September.

Not so this year.

I also remember everyone saying the iPhone X was too expensive and would never sell, Apple managed to sell over 63 million units of the iPhone X.

I just think with the rising cost of smart phones and those who retained their older phone's are finding out that they don't need to upgrade every year like they used to. Apple realizes that and they understand the market, which is probably why they will release the XR in October, because they realize that they need to have a middle ground phone that is not price over $1000. I think that iPhone will always be successful, but those with older phones don't seem to care as much to upgrade as often because it does everything they need it to, it really depends what somebody wants out of the newest iPhone.

Why? Notch and no touch ID. The sales slow down trend started with the Ex and continues with the Ex whatevers.

Really - not one x owner I know, including myself could care leass about the notch. Don't even notice anymore. As far as touch ID, there is no comparision, I could not go back to it as Face ID is much better. Definitely not the reasons.... :)

Supply isn't quite the problem it has been in the past. People are also holding onto their phones longer, because of the high price for the phone, not to mention other financial obligations. There is also a very, very small percentage of tech geeks holding on longer, because they expect Apple to reinvent the wheel with each new release.

The discussion at my work the day after the launch was how expensive it is and I wholeheartedly agree with that. I only know a few people with the X and they are locked into long term contracts. I think older iPhones and the XR will be the bigger sellers this year.

The birth of 36 month contracts this year is interesting and a way carriers can advertise phones as much cheaper. I think we’ll see less people upgrading every one or two years going forward. I certainly hope we get a lack of interest in premium models and force Apple to be less greedy but I doubt they’d take any notice.

If companies go 36 months, they best be prepared to support phones for that long whether if Android or iOS. iOS will get updates for that timeframe on new phones. However, some Android devices get very few updates. Also warranties should be adjusted globally to compensate for longer term ownership.

What I am asking for is just in general and is a mere wishlist. I know that this is unrealistic and some countries have 2 year warranties standard.

It seems like Apple is manipulating the dates the phone will ship. I remember like an hour after the pre order started some of the configurations had delivery dates of October 10th and beyond, now all the configurations are 1-2 weeks. Seems a bit odd but people have been saying for a long time that they do that to create hype and demand.

I mean... its an S cycle. S cycle iPhones are less popular than the regular more updated versions. I also think many people are holding out for the XR because they're "different". Different in the sense that its a new screen size and new colors. I really don't think the majority will care or even be aware of the difference in screen resolution.

The X has 3GB so it’s fine. In fact the A12 in the XR will future proof it for some time I’d imagine.

I saw that as well.

I believe they are reallocating stock, perhaps moving from launch retail store to online preorders.

Hell at the prices they are charging I think they want to make everyone that pre ordered happy.
