It's not too bad to buy iphone max, at least going out people thought on the handle of the expensive cost$ 1,000 bucks ... is it cool:p

Well I’m in Los Angeles and the Max is pretty much all spoken for except on AT&T and it’s just the 64 and 512. They need to reallocate some of the At&t versions to T-Mobile. Lol.

The one I ordered, the iPhone XS Max 512 Space Gray, sold out within 5 minutes. I won't be getting it until October although I ordered it at 3:05am EST at launch.

That's not correct at all - there are plenty of XS/Max models available, even for 21 September delivery. Have a look on the website for yourself and see.

Don’t know what website your looking at but all the iPhone xs max and Apple watches have sold out in the UK Apple store.

Why is there an 8+ still in the product mix? The Xr will be so much better and not much more price wise.

Can someone please note the "expert" forecasters were all saying "$100 lower prices this year".

They aren't experts. Their just bad guessers. They do it for their own purposes which dont always meet buyers needs.

I'm at the end of year 3 for my 6S+. It's tempting to upgrade but even after waiting a year I'm seriously thinking to just put a new battery in it. I can cart it around in my pocket, it's so old that if it did get dropped, broken or was stolen I wouldn't be heartbroken. A new Xs Max would need to be handled gingerly as it's going to need 36 months to pay off.

Anyway, still haven't finally decided but there is some merit in sitting it out again and hoping Apple realise they've pushed many people to the limit. With Oppo and Huawei making nice looking bigscreen phones for half the price, there are going to be some people questioning why they keep shelling out more for an iPhone. If you just want to call and surf the net and do email then there's little to keep you locked in. If you need certain apps you're probably stuck on an iPhone no matter what the prices do.

I have an Apple Watch Series 3 and really like it. The new Series 4 is a real improvement, more so than this years iPhones. So, I’m excited about the Series 4 and want one. But getting a Watch plus an Xs or Xs Max is expensive. In the past, when I didn’t have a Watch, it wasn’t so much of an issue. In other words, I’ll get an new Watch and hold off on a new iPhone.

I believe the biggest factor in all this is the XR. It's so much cheaper than the XS and Max and it makes very few concessions.

What's shocking however is how many XS's and Max's are still available for shipment on September 21st. I really thought the Max at the very least would sell out everywhere. Perhaps the XR is close enough in size to eat into both XS and Max sales.

Of course Apple could have more supply at launch versus previous years. Only they know. But to see so much stock right now is shocking and unlike any previous year I can remember.

I didn’t preorder last year and got a X exactly one week later through T-Mobile. This is nothing new, people are keeping their phones longer, especially at these price points. Also I agree some are waiting for XR

o_OView attachment 781871 Why this year iphone sales slower than last year, remember last year preorder so crowd and sold out in a few minutes even after a day buyers are delayed 3-4 weeks comapring now still available pickup 9/21 and 1-2 weeks ship, is it reasonable price too high or no one like new look or no money something ???

This year also is “s” or second generation cycle, which only offers slight improvements, which usually minor. I upgrade this year from X to XsMax because of 512 gb storage and a slight larger size availability. Xs is similar to X so everyone who has X does not see any reason to upgrade because in general X and Xs are the same except for minor improvements.

Yeah I just checked and could get an XS on Friday. I don’t get the impression demand is huge this year and think many are waiting for the XR. Last year the Cardiff Apple store had stock on the X two days after release too.

I just cancelled mine. Got the preorder in for a 21 sep delivery but can’t justify the price for mediocre products.

I’m not sure why Apple went back to “s” updates.

They skipped over iPhone 7s for the iPhone 8 only to give us an iPhone Xs? It doesn’t make all that much sense to me... I honestly believed this iPhone would be call iPhone XI, but I guess they backed themselves into a corner with iPhone X standing for iPhone 10...

I've always upgraded on launch day when a new iPhone was released. If it weren't for my wanting the Max model I would have happily kept my X. Also if you got an X on launch day you're not eligible for an upgrade without making an extra payment which adds to to cost which was $100 more than folks were expecting. When Apple skipped over 9 last year and priced the X so high I think everyone thought the price would come down and that did not happen.

It’s because the only exciting phone coming out on Friday is the XS Max, and not everyone likes the huge screen. Those who like the 5.8 inch screen and who already have an X will not upgrade.

There wasn't a huge backorder on the X last year either, but it still sold VERY well. I think Apple just isn't playing the short supply/artificial demand game anymore.

What did you expect? Very few “real” new features. Most of them are software based. The same design as last year’s X. Still very expensive! I’ve been upgrading every year since the 3GS, I only skipped the 4S and the 7. I’m not interested to upgrade this year. Also, you should take into consideration the fact that every X owner has not even had it for a year yet, as it was released in November, not the usual September timeframe.

You don’t know supply numbers

All reports suggested they had no issues with supply unlike previous years

It’s pretty much a repeat of last year.
And we now know how well the x did...and Apple becoming the first trillion dollar company doing it...but they are wrong just because

My guess:

1. Increased supply. OLEDs are plentiful, and TSMC has come through with their 7 nm manufacturing.
2. Apple overestimated demand, and priced the Maxes too high, so people are hesitating.

Re: #2. I know for myself, it's the price of the Max and even higher price of the 256 GB model made me decide not to pre-order one. I am leaning heavily toward the XR 128 GB now.
Exactly. I cancelled my Max order to get a 128gb Product Red Xr for $799. Such a sweet phone! Can’t wait.

1. Average selling price is higher than previous years.
2. People are having difficulties justifying spending the increase cost for minimal improvements.
3. Their current iPhone still works well.

Heh. I'm waffling. The one spot where I believe the XR will fall down is with Zoomed Display mode. I may want to use that.

My wife doesn't need Zoomed Display mode, and my main reason right now for upgrading is because my wife wants to replace her 6s. So either I get the XR for her, and I keep my 7 Plus, or else I get a Max and give her my 7 Plus.

I will admit, that battery life is one hell of an incentive.
I like iOS and enjoy using my phone. I don’t need super HD or OLED. I value battery and my money more. The Xr has an hour more battery than the $350 more Max.

Why isn't Somerset in the list? I would think even if it wasn't available on 9/21 it should be on the list...? Weird... Anyway, I just checked my local Apple Store (Grand Rapids) and the Gold in 64 with different carriers is available on Friday, the 21st. No other colors though. Maybe the gold isn't that popular.

EDIT - I was looking on my phone and once I tried my computer I could see that stores where it was unavailable are listed below ones where it is available.
