Since MMS is not available for the 2G iphone can it be received on the 2G and not sent?

Ah but you see, somebody stupid will sue them because they bought a used iPhone (first gen), and it didn't have MMS, but then AT&T/Apple will win, because nowhere on that ad does it say MMS is available for first gen. It's just a picture of a person using an iPhone. She could be doing ANYTHING.;)

Jailbreaking for Dummies

I am dumb when it comes to jail breaking the phone.. I dont know the first thing about it.. is there a "Jailbreak for dummies" website or anything.. i am just soo confused about it, and I dont want to brick my phone either.. I dont have the cash for a new one.

youtube tons of video's if you still don't understand after a watching a few go on craigslist you will see add for people that will jailbreak for you. I make a little pocket money myself that way. I charge $15 should cost you more then $30 depending on your area.

Why the first gen should get MMS

1) It is not hardware limited
2) MMS is a service provided by ATT....NOT Apple
3) The text plans people are paying INCLUDE MMS

If apple ant att do not want to offer mms to first gen iphones, then they should concede onthe price of the text plans

As it is now, people have been paying for the service whether they wanted to or not (always been an issue with me)

And no, I do not have a first gen iphone...

a very well thought out a logical post...too bad att doesn't care about logic

More likely Apple. They are the ones that enable 1st Gen iPhone's OS to accept MMS.

Oh it is a 100% apple. ATT would rather people stay on the orginal iphone than upgrade. Reason why is ATT does not have to pay that lovely $400 to Apple and instead gets to keep that money.

Apple pulls this BS stunts off on other hardware to force people to upgrade which means more money for them.

Personally we should demand apple give a reason and we all know the reason they have not done that is Apple does not want to admit they are doing it to screw the customer. Apple is a very greedy company. I hope action like this come to bit them in the ass because people are seeing what apple things of its users.

Apple treat there users as "If you do not buy new we do not give a damn about you" Problem is that aditude is good short term but long term those same people you did not give a damn about will bad mouth the company and will not replace their hardware with new apple products.

While I have a 2g iPhone, aren't all these MMS + 2g iPhone threads getting old? You mean to tell me, people actually thought that when it wasn't announced back during the 3.0 software launch that Apple just wanted to surprise us? Or once 3.0 was actually released worldwide enabling MMS for 3g but leaving 2g that the U.S. customers would fair better with Apple?

Stop it already, we had a couple of months where we knew the status of the 2g iPhone.

Yes, I agree. Lately, Apple has taken a stance of get the latest or get ignored.

We know that already:cool:

If you did not read the thread title, this thread is about why the first gen should get MMS.

apple is far tooooooo busy incorporating a 18 cent sd card reader in their new line and patting eachother on the @s5 for their success.

I have a 67 Chevy parked in the driveway. Damnit, GM should give em anti-lock brakes, a CD changer, Bluetooth-enabled stereo with iPod integration, hybrid engine and power windows and steering.

Seriously, grow up. The companies are in it to make $$$. Jesus, the whining about this is the worst yet. 7

Can we keep this on a mature level?

The fact is that people are paying for a service that includes MMS yet it is being intentionally (as of now) withheld from the customer for no reason

You can say its for a profit all youd like but as long as people are paying for it, they should have it now that it has been enabled

Otherwise, ATT needs to reduce the price of the text packages for the first gen

They cant have it both ways

The plan for the first gens included text not mms. If you upgraded to another plan you knew what you were getting into. I have Directv HD service but I still have one legacy box left. I'm paying for service I can't get on that box because I haven't upgraded yet..
