1. So far the results I’m seeing are mixed.
2. That doesn’t change that you said deep fusion was a great innovation before anyone had ever seen it in action.
I did see it in action. Apple showed 2 pictures on the event in which you could in great detail how sharper and detailed the texturized elements (such as shirts), and human faces become. These are no easy task for a smartphone camera to do.

And pictures taken for events like that are just shot by an average joe and aren’t touched up by a professional at all, right?

Every picture during a release event like that looks excellent. It’s when you get them in the field with the average user that you actually see how well things work. Do any of these manufacturers show blurry pictures at their events and say, hey it work pretty well? No, of course not.

Except, the pictures shown on the event, match 100% with the “regular joe” experience. Apple is not known for false advertising when it comes to features. If they don’t have something to top the competition they don’t say anything about it. It’s not so hard to accept that the 11 Pro is a damm great phone this year. Best battery life on a flagship, best camera, best screen, best speakers... obviously we’ll see what comes with Pixel 4 in regards to camera quality, I also doubt Samsung won’t compete on battery life and camera quality. For now the 11 Pro is killer and this year I actually feel like I upgraded.

My current phone is a 11 Pro Max so I’m not saying it’s bad at all. It’s a great phone and I don’t feel any need to switch. But you’ve clearly drank the Koolaid when it comes to Apple.
Apple don’t say anything about a feature unless it tops the competition? They’re constantly mocked for announcing features that android phones have had for years, slapping a new name on the feature, and acting like they invented it. Also, best speakers on a phone? Best screen on a phone? No and no. Both are good but there are plenty of phones with front facing speakers that are FAR superior. And when it comes to screen the Note and OnePlus 7 Pro beat the Pro Max handily.

You haven’t seen the reviews most likely. Anyway. I compared my Pro Max to my friends Note 10+ and his screen looks dim as hell compared to mine, this is very critical in direct sunlight. Also his Note speakers sound trebly and lack punch in the low end, boosting high mids to give an illusion that the speaker sounds cleaner is not a good idea. Not to talk about that Audio Zoom feature in which I say again, Samsung is tricking its costumers, by increasing overall output and calling it audio zoom, same with their marketing around the “super smooth camera stabilization” which is pure fake, crops the frame at 31% and is still shaky.

OMG...really? They claim IOS is the best OS in the world. They claim the iPhone is the best smartphone....they claim every feature on an iPhone is the best ever.....

I agree the iPhone 11 Pro Max is a great phone. I have a Midnight Green one.
It has a great battery...but really it is just on par with my Note 10+
The display on the Note 10+ is better......
The camera on the 11 Pro and Note 10+ are pretty dang even......might change when Deep Fusion comes out of beta later this year or next year.

We will see what happens next week when the Pixel 4 is announced. Things might change....

Of course...we are all entitled to our own opinion.....
We get challenged on that opinion when we state them as facts...or the stated opinion is on the extreme side of things.
Like this one...
Apple is not known for false advertising when it comes to features.
They are known for exactly the opposite. This is pretty well known and accepted.

I don’t recall ever seeing Apple false advertising anything. Saying iOS is the best OS? It clearly has the highest satisfaction rate so I don’t see how that would be considered false advertising.

What reviews? You can’t flippantly throw these pseudo facts out to try and back up your opinion as a fact.

I have watched a ton of reviews on most smart phones that released this year. Almost all have either the OnePlus 7pro or the Note 10 plus as the best screen on a smartphone. As for speakers, the ones on the Pro Max are great...for non front facing speakers. But almost all front facing speakers, unless they’re total garbage, sound much better than bottom firing speakers with some earpiece support. Most reviews support that as well.

I’m very tolerable of opinions. But when people try to pass them off as fact without any supporting evidence besides more opinions, I get annoyed.

Get annoyed all you want. It doesn’t make your own opinions a fact too.
Getting annoyed over smartphones lol...

Saying you don't recall Apple overstating and over exaggerating features doesn't make it not happen.....
Sometimes people's blind brand loyalty clouds their judgement but doesn't mean it is so for the rest of us.
Just like they wouldn't throttle older phones to spur new phones sales......oh wait!

I’d like to see how older phones are throttled. If anything my 7 Plus runs the same as my 11 Pro.

Except it was? You would rather have your phone with 78% of battery health shutting down during an important call of e-mail, or throttle the performance so it won’t overheat and cause the problem? Lol I swear you have no idea what you’re even talking about☺.

Wow, just wow. You’ll defend anything Apple does won’t you? There was even a class action suit because they did this without consumer knowledge and then retroactively added the option to turn it off. And then you say I have no idea what I’m talking about. You’re funny.
I have an electrical and computer engineering degree and work extensively in the tech field. What do you do chief?

So we start at personal provocation?
I’m not defending Apple, if Samsung would do the same I’d agree with it too. The lawsuit was for the fact that Apple has done it silently without going too much in detail of what the battery patch was supposed to do. In that they were wrong. Customers should always be warned about critical changes to the software they rely on. Doesn’t take an engineering degree to understand simple facts.

The iPhone 11 is just the same phone as the iPhone X. So why spend so much money buying the same phone twice. Geekbench warriors will disagree drooling how much higher scores they get, but in real world usage it is the same phone.

Better buy a Samsung Note 10+ and have the best of both worlds alongside your “old” iPhone X.

It's not the same phone. Yes the performance didn't really increase in the last 2 years, but that is also because the A11 (in the iPhone X) delivered a huge jump in performance. The iPhone X chipset is still faster or on par with current Android flagships.

And then there are many more differences between the two phones:

Camera alone is way improved, apart from the fact that the 11 takes WAY better photos, the 11's camera also include:

Ultra Wide Camera
Night Mode
Brighter Flash
Advanced Bokeh / Depth Control
High-Key Mono Portrait Mode Effect
Smart HDR
Extended Dynamic Range
Audio Zoom for Video
QuickTake Video
Stereo Recording
4K 60 fps Front Facing Camera with Slo-Mo
Cinematic Video Stabilization

And then also:

A13 chip
Ultra Wideband chip
Better battery life
IP68 water resistance
Spatial audio (speakers)

But you do want to know why i don't want the Note 10? Because it runs Android. I despise that OS. The hardware of modern Android phones is fine, the software is not.

Sorry that i care about:

- Privacy (Apple doesn't track you or sell your data)
- Security (no malware in the App Store, Apple reviews every app BEFORE it gets published, whereas on Android a malicious app gets 100000+ downloads before Google sees it and removes it manually)
- Support & Updates (I keep my phones between 3 - 4 years, and Apple gives the iPhone 5 - 6 years of major iOS releases, on Android it's only 1 - 3 years depending on the brand and model)
- It's made for each other. Hardware & Software by one company and everything is fluid and fast. If not your iPhone either has a degraded battery or it's old and is on it's fifth iOS version, and you know, newer software on older hardware = Device gets slower.
- Everything just works and you do not need to worry. Yes, you don't get the customization Android offers and you can't install a custom Launcher, but why do i need to do that? It could brick the complete OS. Don't mess with that stuff.

I also think that Android is a stolen product and copied from iOS, so are the first Android smartphones. Even Steve Jobs said that. The first Samsung Galaxy is based and ripped off the first iPhone. That phone would not have existed without the iPhone. But everybody can make their individual choice and it's a free market in the end, so whatever.

You started the provocation with your condescension and telling me I have no idea what I’m talking about. So my retort was that I have degrees in a related field and am very fluent in what we’re discussing.
This doesn’t need to continue. You’re an Apple apologist, which is fine, but don’t try and paint yourself otherwise.

Apple literally admitted to doing this after it was discovered in iOS code and proved in testing. They played it off by saying it was to preserve battery or something dumb like that.

The news provides the false impression that it was an evil scheme to sell new phones. But it was a real issue, and the intent was to keep older phones running.

Years-old smartphones made by anyone (not just Apple) had older batteries that couldn't manage to produce sufficient and sustained current when the phone was tasked with a heavy load. Doing nothing about this meant the phones unceremoniously shut down. If one does a search for "smartphone sudden shutdown", one will find countless examples of this happening to 2+ year old devices. Only the Apple ones make the news.

Apple decided to prevent the sudden shutdowns by stalling CPU cycles during times of high load. In this case the phone would continue to operate as best it could, which Apple deemed was preferential to the phone just shutting off. Most manufacturers didn't do anything at all, which frankly shows a lack of care for older devices.

So yes, it's absolutely true that Apple slowed down the phones. But the context is important--leaving it out implies that Apple slowed down the phones to nudge people into buying new ones. With the context, it shows that Apple cared to support older phones with older batteries and slowed them down in order to keep them running--this is the exact opposite of trying to get people to upgrade. I have noticed very few articles provide that context, and ones that do tended to use language like "scheme" which biases the readers think it's evil somehow.

Yeah, they should have made it an option from the beginning. And Apple's battery replacement policy should be better. And their prices for it should be lower. And I have a lot of other complaints too. And Apple has literally broken the law on multiple occasions. But IMHO this particular issue is widely misunderstood. It's an option now. And frankly even when it wasn't, I'd personally pick "slower at high loads" over "shutting down at high loads" any day.

I have both iOS and Android devices. One of the things where Apple is better is lengthy OS support for older devices.
