I just joined the forum after searching for an answer to my wifi problems on my M1 Mac mini. It sits next to my 2017 iMac, (which has no problems with either wifi or bluetooth using Magic Trackpad and Apple keyboard via bluetooth).
The M1 mini however has had bluetooth and wifi issues from day 1, but there are oddities to the mix...
Bluetooth dropouts on the M1 mini only affect the Magic Trackpad, but the Logi K380 has no bluetooth dropouts at all. (This is opposite of what I have seen most people describe in seeing Apple devices working, but non-Apple devices having the bluetooth dropouts.)
I learned that simply plugging in the Magic Trackpad, thereby bypassing the bluetooth operation of the device was the temporary answer. But still, I recently went back to bluetooth operation with it since I needed the port back for a bit. A pain for sure, with all the less-than-1 second to 5-second dropouts, but given the speed of the device otherwise, this pain is short-term bearable until the issue is fixed by Apple.
Wi-fi has not been as big an issue, but only because I am still doing pretty much all online activity with the iMac, and rarely actually need the wifi on the M1 mini.
Now it is more of an issue, because as Affinity just released updates, I can't get the Publisher update. I bought Affinity Photo and Designer via the Mac App Store, so those updates show up there and downloading them via the App Store seems to hold on to the download process even when the wifi drops out for 2-5 seconds every minute or so. Affinity Publisher however, I bought directly from Affinity since they had some free brushes when purchased that way. The problem is that since Publisher does not run through the Mac App Store for my registration of the software, I can't download the update the same way I updated Designer and Photo, and when I try to download the Publisher update simply by opening Publisher and clicking on the update process, it gives an error and cancels the download process as soon as the wifi does its ********.
Now, after updating to the new 11.2 update, and finding that it by all metrics seems to have solved the issue for me on bluetooth, I was hoping it also had fixed the wifi, but nope. Oh well. I thought. Bluetooth fixed now, maybe wifi fix will come soon. I'll just hold tight. Buuuuttt... now after attempting to update Publisher and having this fail roughly a couple dozen times as the wifi drops that often, that attempt to download the update is what now has me searching for a solution. (Frankly, it's still not a pressing matter as I have yet to even use Publisher. Learning that software is on my list of software to digest over the next couple months; I can do fine without the update for at least a few weeks, but seriously, it is freaking crazy that this is the situation)
Now, to be frank, I know very little in terms of technical knowledge, especially internet connections etc., and that is not a rabbit hole of knowledge-seeking I am ready to dive down as I have a long list of what I am learning now in simply trying to master (or at least control well enough) a series of creative software.
So I am jumping into this thread for 2 reasons...
1) partly to follow it to see if in scanning the post updates I can see a solution or idea easy enough for me to attempt without risk, (I did try a couple of the easier things presented earlier, and my problem still exists)... and
2), to offer my particular oddities with the M1 Big Sur bluetooth and wifi issues in case it may be additional data points to help those more knowledgeable and capable than me in seeking to solve the issue for all.
On that point, in case this info helps anyone who is sleuthing the problem, here is (even more-lol) detail of my particular situation with the wifi problem... I also just received my OWC Thunderbolt 3/USB4 hub the same day as the Big Sur update. I have that connected now to my M1 mini, and have connected a number of usb-c drives as well as a couple usb3 drives. On top of that, I have an OWC travel dock added in that mix to offer SD card reader, and also have a usb-3 drive attached to it.
