I had the same issue with the Nomad Base Station Pro, and even after switching phones it still persists. On top of that, the phone would stop working with all other wireless chargers after attempting to charge with the Base Station. On the bright side, I sent them an email about it and this was their response this morning:

Looks like it’s a canned reply (I got the exact same thing).

On the bright side, at least Chloë @ Nomad is aware ?

I have several Seneo stand chargers, and I'm hoping they will still charge the Pro Max. I guess we shall wait and see.

Update from Nomad for their Base Station Pro:

Thank you for reaching out about Base Station Pro and your new iPhone 12 Pro. Whenever a new product comes to market there are inevitably new challenges that come with it. Luckily, Base Station Pro features firmware updates and we’re working hard to provide you with one. Aira’s engineers have identified the root cause of the compatibility issue that you’re experiencing and expect to have a firmware update within the next week or two.

I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this issue might have caused you. Please do let me know if you have any additional questions in the meantime.
Edit: Whoops just saw this was reported earlier. Anyway, more confirmation.

Seems to be more new wireless chargers affected. My Mophie 7.5W Wireless Charge Pad works fine, but apparently the newer 10W Charge Stream Pad+ that looks identical doesn’t work. Also, my Nomad Base Station works fine as well, but apparently the newer Base Station Pro and Stand don’t. I have 4 different wireless chargers from 4 different brands and all work with the iPhone 12.

The iPhone 12 doesn’t seem to play nice with chargers that have multiple coils overlapping. Probably because the magnet touches one of them in any position and so it detects it as foreign object.

This newer Mophie one does not work. Bummer as I really liked it. Still within return period, so just returning. Not taking a chance. Will get the Belkin 3-in-1 MagSafe charger when it comes out. Wish it was out now though.

AirPower attempted to solve the positioning problem, and failed because the solution was unsafe. Anyone who makes a similar product is making an unsafe product. MagSafe has fixed it better.

Sorry I'm still not impressed with your cheap Chinese knockoff of AirPower. I particularly like the reviews that say you can literally smell it overheating when charging 2 devices. Lol. Wow.

I’m on hold (tel call) for 45 mins. My 12 pro is extremely hot...

So if I'm reading this right - Apple's primary rationale for designing MagSafe is because QI is too pernickety about accurate placement, and in implementing their own proprietary system, they made QI more pernickety? And now, many of those who don't have any interest in MagSafe might have issues with a previously standardised system?

I'm not having any alignment issues with my 12 Pro but I am noticing it get's markedly hotter than my previous iPhone 8 on the same QI pads. QI-gate inbound in 3..2..

I'm switching to 10w wired slow charging until I have read more about the heat generation I'm getting on QI. I don't need fast charging of any kind so I figure 10w USB-A is fine.

Yeah my MagSafe gets my phone really hot especially once at 100%. Oddly enough. I prefer my 5w Anker wireless as heat is much less of an issue. :/

Has any one tried theirs with this Belkin 3 in 1 wireless charger. I have this one for my 11 Pro Max and Apple Watch and I’m curious to know if it works with the 12/12Pro. Of course as I’ll be getting the 12 Pro Max which is a different size altogether it may or may not work.
