The Xr is supposed to have the longest battery on any iPhone ever. Only this factor alone will help move tons of these phones. Good battery life is way more important to most people than dual cameras, 3D Touch or screen resolution/technology. I’m pretty sure this phone will be very hard to come by until next year. It’s a perfect gift for a very broad audience as well.

It's hilarious how each one of your posts in this thread gets more and more unintelligent. Tell us again how the XR is made from recycled 5 year old phones. Lol

It just seemed to me given how the back of the Xr looks like plastic, it would make sense to use materials left over from the 5c. Sorry if I offended you

Once people see them side by side, most will upgrade to the latest technology.

I doubt that will be the case. I suspect that most people still see $1000+ for a phone, even if it is a nifty handheld computer, as unreasonably high. I have no idea what most will buy (with new 7’s and 8’s and the corresponding Plus models available, not to mention the XR), but I wouldn’t disregard the significance of $250 difference between the XR and the XS to the average iPhone user. Time will tell.

Much cheaper, better memory upgrade options, colors, bigger screen than the XS, same chip and camera from the XS phones, and the best battery life of any iPhone. I think it'll do great.

I think most consumers outside a tech forum will appreciate the XR and Won’t fret over ‘PPI’, this Phone will be successful long term. However, I agree that there will be threads stating “Why I returned my XR” shortly after the launch.
What frustrates me is the larger Plus model iPhones had a higher PPI than their regular sized counterparts...the XR is larger than the Plus, yet they gave it a worse PPI?

So many cut corners....and I’m afraid you’re right, Apple will most likely be rewarded for it.

Take off you ppi google and you will see that it is the same on the 8, X, XS and Max back.

People are so upset about this PPI aren't they. It's quite funny.

Everyone has their right to vote with their wallet and if people feel short changed that they're getting a less clearer screen then absolutely go and buy something else. Nice thing is there's choice here with the XS's and the 8's. :)

But you can be sure as hell that if Apple didn't actually reveal what PPI was in the XR screens and people were blissfully unaware and just saw it as an LCD panel instead of OLED, we wouldn't have pages upon pages of this.
Although from some posts I've read, it seems people use their phones attached to their nose so can see certain pixels and soft text which is so completely unacceptable in 2018 that it makes them violently sick. :p

I like that it feels (to me) like Apple are catering to a really wide array of people now for the first time in a long time with the 8's, XS's and XR's to choose from.
If you're an Apple fan it's nice to have that choice I think.

You think they took plastic backs from phones that were significantly smaller than the XR and re-used them on the XR? Which other parts of old phones do you think were re-used?

What? Did you even look at the keynote or bother to Google the specs at least?

EDIT: oh sorry - you were reply to the initial question, and rightly so!

[doublepost=1539345164][/doublepost]Not sure about you but the initial comments at the hands-on event after the keynote were very positive about the LCD screen on the XR. Unlike those people, none of you have seen this screen in the flesh yet, only commenting on 'paper' specs. So I'd reserve judgment until you can see the XR in person, then you'll have a valid place to comment on its quality.

I personally felt the 8+ was a much better deal and to be honest 3mm on the width and 8mm on the height is not significant enough to make a difference in terms of size for me. They are both big phones and the specs of the 8+ were enough of a draw combined with the extended wait for the XR.
Are those sizes (3mm width and 8mm height) how much larger the XR screen is than the 8 Plus?

Frankly, I'm struggling to figure out whether I want to upgrade to the XR or 8 Plus. I can see the different in PPI and while it's not a big deal I do prefer the denser screen. I also use the telephoto lens on my 7+ all the time so I'm not sure how I'd feel about losing it. But I contrast this with the fact that I hate the home button and love gestures and also want that A12... sigh.

I don't understand the complaints about PPI. It's the same as all the regular sized iPhones, and they look fine to me. You might notice it if you compare with the Plus models side by side, but it's a minimal difference IMO. I don't see pixels on an iPhone 6 in regular use, and I don't notice it on my iPad which is even lower PPI.

For OLED displays, they have pentile pixel arrangement and a higher PPI helps mask that. But for LCD, the XR PPI will be fine.

Those were physical device sizes. With that in mind the screen of the XR will be bigger due to the smaller bezels it has.
Oh, okay.
From pics it looks like the XR screen is much taller, but not as wide as the 8 plus.
I think it might do for me unless I find the screen quality lacking over my 6s plus.
The Max would be nice but a bit too pricey at this time for me.

If you want the biggest screen possible for your money the the XR is the best option. I’ll be interested to see the difference in quality too as my 8+ is very good. I made the opposite choice though for the next 2 years.

Depends what you were coming from but the 8+ is a great phone with almost all the stuff offered on the newer ones.
They just lowered the X price at my carrier so it will be interesting to see how the X price will compare to the XR price.
My contract was up a few weeks ago, but I'm in no rush as my 6s+ is working fine.

I came from a 6S so it’s a big jump. I fancied one last phone with a home button and it was a little bit cheaper than the X anyway. The size is awkward at times but it’s nice to use.

Here's an unoriginal idea but still valid.... quality and sales are very independent of each other, K?

Yeah, I like the home button too.
I bet next year iphones will have virtual home buttons.
