Some people guessed that maybe the m3 will be removed from the apple store and the m2 will stay. Something with higher production cost and problems in producing the m3. Also the upgrade from m2 to m3 wasn’t that big… only time will tell tho.
Um this could makes sense to sell more m4 but M2 is almost 3 years old.

That's what I'm thinking: It will be M2 & M4 MacBook Airs. Apple could further reduce the pricing of the M2 MacBook Air to make it more attractive to education. That would be my guess from my years of experience.

Yeah here are the possible prices if they deduct the price by 100$ (which is logic) (((m2 mba :

- 899 $ (Base model new)

- 799$ (Base model new for education)

- 799$ (Base model refurbished by apple)

- 649$ (Base model 8gb of ram refurbished by apple)

))) M3 mba :

- 879$ (Base model refurbished by apple)

- 829$ (15 inch Base model with 8gb of ram refurbished by apple)

- 729$ (Base model 8gb of ram refurbished by apple)

M4 MacBook Air would take all M3 actual prices normally.

$799 is realistic for education. I'd like $699...but hey. But it will probably be ~$759 per unit for volume purchases. At least that's my experience buying in bulk when I worked in education.

M2 MacBook Air is still great for many people like students… a Mac for 799$ is very cool… it could be 699 bro since that’s the price of the M1 Walmart MacBook Air ! The M2 could have the same price !!!! Or at least for education so 799$ new and 699$ for education… I just gave my opinion but it could be better 😀

It would make apple very competitive against Chromebooks !!

So the new Powerbeats Pros are expected to be announced on the 11th now.

Not much of a surprise as they were expected to be announced imminently, but do we think this could lead to a week of minor announcements including the M4 MBA?

Dates are starting to align! My original guess of an 11th announcement and 14th release is still going strong 🤫😉

Hope that’s true and that there isn’t a price hike due to recent events.

Gurman has also just said in the last few minutes there’s a change to the way you buy AC+ from next week too.

Could this be planned timing for a possible influx of people purchasing this alongside their new devices I wonder 👀

Again, I have no evidence this is just speculation on my part

Could you provide your thoughts on this as well as the dates?

In Australia the shipping times for BTO MBP and MBA are identical. So there's no sign of any imminent release on those dates.
I’ve just re-read this post and realised you said BTOs for both the MBA & MBP are the same in Australia

I’ve just checked here (UK) and it’s pretty much the same

Current MBA BTOs are 17-19 Feb whereas MBPs as 14-18

Make of that what you will

With iOS 18.4 beta 1
Apple would never sell a machine with beta software. It may seem that way with some releases. All machines would arrive with the current production software version. Or one version prior.

Even the M1, to be honest. I know it's not available for purchase from Apple any longer, but they're fantastic machines since the Mx architecture came to life. I'm considering an M4 MacBook Air when they're released but only because it's subsidized. If it was all my own money I'd be hanging on for the M5/M6. I got a refurb M1 16/512 8/8 and it's been absolutely amazing.

I'm just noting here. Both the M2 Macbook Air 13" and M3 Macbook Air 15" have BTO dates stuck February 13-17th, (has been since the end of last week) and you can not pay to have them shipped faster.

M3 Macbook Air 13" has normal BTO shipping times February 11-13th, and you can pay to ship faster with a delivery time of February 10-12th.

Apple most likely will keep the standard M3 Macbook Air 13" and drop the price, so in-store stock will stay the same and production continue. The M3 15" and the M2 13" have probably ceased production and will be removed from stores when the M4 arrives.

I am thinking it will be a press release/website update on Monday, February 10th, and in-store on February 14th.

Same as my thinking (although I’m going with an 11th announcement alongside the Powerbeats Pro) I also think the change in Apple Care policy is timed around this.

Makes sense to drop the M2, reduce the M3 price and replace the M3 15” for an M4 15”, standard Apple routine.

Still stuck on BTOs of 17th-19th here in the UK

Nice find! I hope you're right and it sounds reasonable. I'm one of those who thought they might stick with the M2 since it's a bit cheaper to produce but that seems more and more unlikely to be honest. I'm not going to buy a M4 but instead the budget friendly alternative whether it's the M2 or the M3.

Here in Sweden there are a few stores that have the M2 on sale right now, that is not a common thing here so it might be another indication on what is going to happen in hopefully not too long.

Mid Feb or Early March. They will want these on the books for Q2 figures. No way it will be April they need something to carry Q2 no way current portfolio is enough.

Amazon Canada has the M3 Air on sale too, which my gut tells me is a rare occurrence.

Apple is starting to show their cards in Canada. The lead time for bone stock M2 is more than a month. ☺️

Something obviously happening in the background. February launch almost 100% certain now. Just a matter of which week.
