The only good thing about playing this waiting game is that I’ve had time to try and decide on a colour 😅

I think I’m all but set on Midnight. Be interesting to see if they improve even more on last years already ‘improved’ less finger printy coating

Although I don’t think I’ll be an immediate finger on the button purchase when they do announce it, need to pay a visit to the Apple Store and look at the colours in person first, or may wait for them to be released so I can go have a look at an M4 in store

All BTO MBAs in Australia still have normal delivery estimates 12-13 Feb 🤷🏻‍♂️

China vs. Vietnam assembly.

Vietnam supplies North America while China supplies rest of world. The lead time for NA is a lot longer in relative terms due to longer distance and less mature assembly sites in VN. Hence the pullback of M2 stock is much more evident.

In short, cannot use Australia, UK, etc. as a keyhole.

My excitement is setting me up for disappointment. There's a good chance this thing will be nothing more than today's Air with an M4. I'd love to see 10 core and nano-texture options, but I also remember what Apple did with the iPad Mini 7.

I’m expecting nothing more than an M4 chip, that’s all the rumours are tbh

Anything extra will be nice. There’s a chance by the sounds of some thunderbolt ports on the right hand side - nano screen would be nice although I’m not in the market for that so it wouldn’t bother me

That's exactly what I'd expect. Today's Air with M4.
I'm somewhat hopeful of a black case option but not holding my breath.

Unless the product has "Pro" in the name, I doubt Nano will be available. Additional port - long shot I think. Apple differentiates Pro by adding a fan and ports. I'd only bet on dual external monitor support and Center Stage.

You can get Nano on an iMac - that's what's giving me hope!

To play devil’s advocate, there is no All-In-One iMac Pro and therefore they added the nano texture as an option especially because a lot of creative pros and small businesses use the iMac.

However, it would also be strange for Apple to not offer it on a device that is meant to be used on the go and in varied lighting conditions. I think they follow the iMac model personally (offer it as a paid add-on for the higher end configuration) but who knows…guess we’ll find out in a week or two!

I hope so! I don't see Nano as a Pro feature - as you said lots of people on the go (including me) would like the option.

There might be a new blue color as per Chinese leak from factory side~ The source also said massive production was started on 25th Dec, but not “oktoship” yet.

Saw the same post on rednote lmao! Alas the OP there has deleted her comment thread already.
Yeah, seems legit - OP claimed to work at Shanghai Tech-Com, which is a Quanta subsidiary. Pretty interesting detail since most people don't know the exact names of these assembly plants.

Honestly I would never pay an extra for that. (Since I think mbp 1600 nits is enough to be bright everywhere)

We might get a higher megapixel webcam.

I don’t believe the megapixel count will increase. Instead, we might get a Centre Stage camera.
Yea, Centre Stage feels like a real possibility, since the iMacs now have it. The iMac Centre Stage Camera is 12 Megapixels, while the MacBook Air's still contain 4MP cameras (I believe). This makes me think that if the Air get's Centre Stage, it will also get the megapixel increase.

I wonder if the Centre Stage camera will fit inside the thin display. I believe the Pro is slightly thicker.

Well test by yourself m4 MacBook Pro or m4 iMac at the Apple Store... and there is desk view two... Actually the 12mp also allow me to do a 0.5 zoom

I don't see much beyond the new M4 chip. Perhaps a better camera. Adding ports, improving camera, improving screen, nano-texture, is going to intrude on the MBP territory. I don't think that is something that Apple would consider doing. I suspect, guess, beyond the new chip, there may be new memory options. I don't see the base memory changing or the base SSD size changing. Two Thunderbolt 4 ports on the left, MagSafe, etc. will all remain the same.

I also think/guess that Apple will eliminate the M3 and have two varieties of the Air, the M2 and the M4. The M2 will be cheaper by a hundred dollars over the current offering with the M4 taking the M3's place at about the same price.

I could very well be incorrect.

I am not as well connected as Gurman obviously, who makes 20 predictions, 4 turn out correct, and I guess an 80% failure rate is good enough to be considered an expert.

Quite a change on the 15” M3 BTO on the UK store today slipping to 20-24th delivery, pretty sure is was 19-21 yesterday

As mentioned above though if the EU/UK stores tell a different story to NA stores then who knows, it’s all just speculation until we hear something!
