Hoping the SE Plus actually comes out this year because I like the physical home button and absolute hate the notch.
if i am to stay within the "proverbial Apple ecosystem" then the rumoured all screen iPhone SE plus with side touchID will probably be my next purchase....have already skipped several models including the 12I keep hearing some people state that they will not upgrade until the notch is fully gone, the 2021 iPhones will most likely have a reduced notch and I'm fairly certain we won't be seeing a notch-free phone for another 3 years or so.
What are you guys planning to do? The only roadmap to having the lastest iOS in the near future without a notch is the iPhone SE 2020.
It’s still a bad design.Oh help us.
Denying yourself an iPhone solely because of Notch hatred would have to be the most ridiculous reason in the history of smartphones.
You get more screen in a smaller form factor.
Though, with the Pandemic/masks impacting Face ID, I’d understand if people went for the SE, as Passcode entry for unlocking/Apple Pay is a PITA.
Android makers never had a secure Face Unlock system, so they stuck with Touch ID & ditched the notch.
You should submit your portfolio to AppleIt’s still a bad design.

This is such a terrible argument. Do you have to make award-winning movies to recognise that some movies are bad? Should you have to be a master chef to know that a dish is too salty? You should submit your portfolio to Apple
Barely, i get about 5mm more screen that isn't really usable anyhow because there's a giant camera array in the way.You get more screen in a smaller form factor.
I have my first notched phone (12 mini) and don't really agree with this. The fact that the notch is there means you can't see the battery %, which means I notice the notch every time I look at the screen. It's not a deal breaker, still love my mini and its screen, but of course I notice the notch. As many have said you don't even notice the notch after a short while.
Hide the cameras in the bezel (example below from @BenGeskin on Twitter) or work on putting them under the display (like the ZTE Axon 20 5G).Notch doesn't bug me. For those that can't stand it, what do you propose instead?
- keep with the forehead and chin w/ home button (SE2)
- thicker all around bezels with or without Face ID (newer iPad Pro + Air)
- forehead with Face ID (similar to the system on Pixel 4)
- other??

This is just laughable.forehead with FaceID
This is just laughable.
So rather than merging the top bezel with a functional Status Bar/Camera array/Best Face ID Biometric Authentication system in the industry, you’d rather split them, & have a double-decker bezel which increases the size of the smartphone?
Unbelievable.
Before the TouchID on power button, forehead with FaceID or permanent/fixed, dark status bar would've been my preference.
"option other" may just be to look elsewhere for the time being since the general sentiment is Apple is not ready or we cannot or should not force them to listen to our dislike of the notchNotch doesn't bug me. For those that can't stand it, what do you propose instead?

It's fine when the sides are actually displaying status info. Not so much when the notch is just cutting off content and you've got useless partial data on the "ears".

Now I hear that OLED causes brain headaches/eyestrain and I am confused.
Why is that? If it were that objectively bad I would certainly have experienced some issue that you can predict?I think the challenging thing to accept is that the notch is an objectively bad design choice by apple.
