Never notchers will go the same way of those of us who were never going to move on after they removed the 3.5 mm audio jack. And those who say they won't move to a portless device next year.

I fought and lost the first war. Sat out the current war and will fight/lose the next war.

Loss of Headphone jack never really bothered me at all.
I have always kind of disliked putting on headphones with dangling cables. Now I can fully enjoy my music free of cord tethering as I do other tasks.

I tolerated the notch for the first iPhone iteration that had it but now I am beginning to look elsewhere for alternatives until Apple offers something new.

If port-less iPhone comes with the demise of the notch and an all screen I will take that any day.

It still catches me out having the headphone jack gone. I now carry two sets, one for my iPhone with lightning and one for my Dell Workstation. Very frustrating when you forget one set lol.

i can understand that especially if you were heavily invested in corded headphones prior to this bluetooth progression

I do use an over ear Bluetooth pair when working at home but when going in to work I just use the Apple jack ones for Teams calls and the lightning ones for listening to music on my phone. I do find myself pulling earphones out of my ears a lot to answer calls so would be great if both devices had the same connection. First world problems though but not the end of the world.

re: getting accustomed to the notch
I don't like getting punched daily in the face, but after a few days I don't even notice it anymore. ;)

I'm not a fan of the notch and not a fan of the loss of the 3.5mm headphone jack. That is why the original iPhone SE was the last iPhone I bought. If Apple brings back a notchless phone with headphone jack or my needs in a smartphone change, I won't be buying another iPhone.

That approach has had an unintended side effect... buying surprisingly good alternatives, sometimes with unique (to iPhone) features at a lower price.

My iPhone X can surely last until they get a under screen camera. There is also just nothing meaningful in the latest phones that warrants a upgrade, the iPhone X is just that good a phone that I don’t need a faster processor or more RAM in it now and I have a full frame camera and lenses with me at all times and would never shoot a picture with such a wide fiel of view.

I was one of the biggest haters of the notch, I saw it as a an area that looks like it has dead pixels 😂
But when Apple dropped the Xs Max I was intrigued.

The Notch is now very distinctly iPhone and I have grown to like it. I cannot tell many Androids apart due to all looking exactly the same at the front with the Pin hole or Pill cutout.
I hope the day Apple figure out how to get FaceID and Selfie Cam under the screen they have another way to distinguish iPhone from everything else on the front.

I really hate the notch, and was prepared to just use the Iphone 8+ and SE2 indefinitely until the notch was gone. But alas the 12 series with the iphone industrial 4 design was just too good to miss out on, especially the 12 mini. I have learned to live with the notch somewhat, but it needs to go asap!!!

Other than behind the screen, where would you put the Face ID cameras and sensors?

I really have no interest in owning a "modern" iPhone w/a notch or gestures, swiping down from one "ear" for Control Center, all that jazz. if my 8+ broke, I'd get another 8+. Don't know how long I can hold out; I'm hoping at least (in-screen) Touch ID returns at some point, but there's still the gesture issue. At least on my (work) Pixel, I can set it to use onscreen buttons instead of gestures, but I doubt Apple will ever offer that.

I really don’t understand why anyone would prefer onscreen buttons over gestures, but whatever floats your boat I guess… 🤷‍♂️

I guess it would be accurate to say a notch is a partial bezel, not a full bezel. But software is what determines if it acts as a bezel or a notch.
Which is why I never understood the request to eliminate the notch. The only way to do so on the iPhone right now is to make the bezel even bigger than it currently is, pixel 4 style. And that looks terrible in comparison to the iPhone.

Well it’s subjective but yeah I’m not sure what option anti-notch people are for. It’s probably not unanimous. Some may want to fill in the “ears” and have a full top bezel, some may want a bottom bezel as well for symmetry, some may just be waiting for technology that can somehow hide the camera and sensors in a super thin bezel or under screen (they may be waiting awhile), and some may want to get rid of Face ID and have a thin bezel for just the camera and do under screen or power button Touch ID. There is compromise every which way you go though, including staying with the notch. So it’s not surprising there are a lot of differing opinions on this.

No monarch decreed that screens must fill the entire front of the phone now. It’s just an aesthetic move that dictates poor (IMO) product design compromises. I realize there’s no going back; but it’s not like bezels and screens with nice, straight edges and 90-degree corners were ever a problem before.

I also feel weird with the notch, but after few weeks, try to get accustomed with it. It’s just a phone anyway, nothing todo with myself or my personality.

I will only upgrade this year if they add a fingerprint sensor under display. The notch us¡¡is not a problem at all for me, also 60HZ
