Found another render via Twitter, i hope it has not been posted yet.
I think HPs AiO also comes with the Foot that is a wireless loading station.
Gigantic mirrored Apple here, but it suits the device.
Probably to thin.
Obviusly not a fan of zero non USB-C Ports/no ram door.

Too thin! We want a THICC iMac for all that lovely cooling.

Here's HP's version of the Mini.

I take it this is the gpu they updated to the Macbook PRo? 5 Tflops. That's not alot of flops for £800... (Seriously?)

And it's Navi. I suppose if you're an uber Macbook Pro 'Pro' you may pay the £800? (Is that really the BTO price?!)

And something like that I'd like to see in the Mac Mini. But not at that price.

This may be part of the reason Apple are moving to Mac ARM. Whilst having progressive power and thermal efficiency...maybe they can pass on 'some' cost saves to the Mac consumer.

*Stifles laugh.

Azrael.
£800 for the base 16in, £700 for the higher-end 16in MBP.
Crazy, crazy, crazy...

Ouch. True ... It's severely under clocked I think. This is why under clocked hardware isn't good at all. But the MacBook Pro 16inch has to consume less than 100w. Make it only 125w instead and this would be a mobile workstation class computer.

BTW, iMac 27 inch BTO delivery date is end of July in Canada. Pretty crazy if you really, really need a computer ahah !

Looks decent for such a small package. Give it Apple's design language and up to date specs and we have mini tower winner. Introduce prosumer version of XDR and I'm all over it.

That is of course in the world where Apple doesn't want to FUSION us over again and again!

This iMac better blow us otherwise it might flip me over to PC world. Everyone has a limit and if Apple keep ignore us and focus on rich kids who dont' care about value etc. then why support them? Their arrogance will eventually be their downfall.

I wish there was a huge decline or better competitors so Apple would try harder.

*Nods.

I came across this before when I was checking out their 'darn good value for money' AiO.

And I thought, '6 core Xeon. Quadro.' That's the kind of value equation Apple could be giving their Mini customers. Or Mac desktop buyers in general.

I completely agree with you. Edging closer and closer to being complete done with Macs.

But they sell them ... ! And I think they sell them more years after years. That’s the problem ;)

They have.

But I note they've reached the 'Mac' glass ceiling in terms of the Apple bricks and mortar stores of the last several years.
They haven't been able to move the needle on 5 million Macs per quarter. Out of date. Over priced. Tardy update schedule. Sure, Intel haven't been great. But they've had 'value' and form design metrics under their control.

And that's because after a 'good' beginning and agressively going after PC buyers in the Steve Jobs era...

...in the Tim Cook era...it's less about the product and more about the profit.

And we needn't point out the pricing of the Mac Pro, the stand, the wheels, the iStale iMacs, the 'only' 13 inches laptop upto £2k, the price yikes on the iPads (going pro put a few hundred on...), the £1k iPhone etc.

I look back at the value of the Steve Jobs grid. And can't help but be disappointed with the perfected art of BTO upsell reamery.

But let’s say we are in early 2019. The new iMac comes out refreshed, spec bumped. It was totally fine back then. You order the base model but with an SSD, lookup youtube and order Crucial/Kingsgton memory upgrade and upgrade yourself the RAM, and you have a decent and most importantly a no-brainer computer that performs great. That’s what 99% of the people want. A computer you put out of the box and plug it. Because 99% of the people is (sadly) not techy, doesn’t care *that much* about what’s inside, and are not geek enough to say what we said in the previous 143 pages of this thread 😂😅

But people know when a PS3 or PS4 is old hat.

And they know when their computer is 'slow' and 'looks' old hat and need a new one.

Now that people have cottoned onto Mac's boutique pricing, they've flatlined to that 'ceiling.'

There's an entrenched market they can't reach because their pricing has become...

*Fill in blank.*

Azrael.

Yeah sure they know when it begins to slow down. And that’s why Fusion drive must be wiped out of the surface of this planet. But if you were at least a bit informed, one would have ordered it with an SSD and have a very decently priced computer.

Hope the upgrades won’t cost an arm and a leg on the 2020 model.

ARE YOU SAYING WE ARE IRRELEVANT? I'm absolutely fuming now.

I might swing at the next person who walks near me.

5700M upgrade option will be £1,000 :)

I didn’t mean to be rude at all :p Just trying to do devil’s advocate for Apple. This doesn’t excuse them at all for selling over expensive products !
Haha, I know. We are the vocal minority that are incredibly demanding (very vocal in this thread... ;)).

My big worry on the iMac redesign is if they will eliminate the RAM door? Really liked being able to upgrade that RAM later on down the line.

So y’all are not interested in a 2800$ ssd Upgrade?
Not sure I'll go for that upgrade. I have already set aside $2,800 for upgrading to 32GB RAM.

Update on the 5600M. It appears to be a custom version for Apple that uses HBM2 as it runs cooler than GDDR6. Impressive for a 50w GPU. Source: AMD subreddit.

Precisely! I stopped watching the news and often facebook etc. because people are so For Fusion Sake dumb its beyond believe.
Trump supporters, flat earthers, etc. - that is just beginning. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. People in general are selfish pieces of ****. Sometimes I wish there was a "restart" button for the planet. Animals behave zillion times better than most humans. Its sickening.

If lockdown has taught me one thing, it is that people are f11cking stupid.

I just saw on the front-page that there are now SSD upgrade packs for MacPro. That might be a game changer for a possible iMac design, as long as only Apple is selling these because of T2 it might be something it is of interest to them to give you the option to late upgrade for selling your kidneys.

These removable SSD modules already exist on the iMac Pro (and they look identical to the Mac Pro, but I don't believe they are electrically compatible/swappable). I expect the iMac will go to something similar when they add the T2 chip.

My question is why aren't Apple selling 10 million Macs per quarter?

Price, of course.

But how much quality would Apple have to sacrifice to get the price down to the point they could sell 10 million a quarter? And would the quality of that machine be such that it would be something people would want to buy 10 million of them a quarter?

I think technically everything apple is custom as the gpu is part of the mainboard anyway.

i feel certain that Apple will be willing to sell and install them for you at the price point they come at.

Couldn't agree more. The only thing that has given me hope in recent weeks is SpaceX launching astronauts to the ISS. Even then, I get ruffled by the fact we put men on the moon 50 years ago. What went wrong with us? Everything?

Apple clearly doesn't care about desktop. All the pictures in the WWDC invites are of MacBooks.... :(

I think that Apple thinks that TB3 externals cover those bases.

Anyway, 8tb at $2,800. Who could resist. Where the hell did we go wrong. there was a ime a few years back where I thought by now we would have cheap huge capacity ssd for the masses. I guess that idea went the way of the flying cars.

I think Apple are content with selling five million Macs, it is not where their heart lies anymore. :(
