AFAIK and most of those other acronyms have been around for 20+ years. No idea what the point of someone's age has to do with it. 😆

Or maybe english is not his first language so he doesn't know. How about that?

I know a lot of these but sometimes something pops up and I have to google it too. And yes, English is not my first language.

That should be young enough. Maybe you gave up your vCard to early.

Yep the last predictions are the updated MacBook Air and a 13 inch MacBook Pro without MiniLED, both under Apple Silicon. I think this is the last guess from Kuo.

July 10.
Kuo's report that day was all about MacBook releases and shipments. Kuo not discussing the 24" iMac isnt evidence he has changed his prediction for a Q4 iMac. If Kuo has changed his prediction for the iMac I'd have expected him to say so.

What a joke. We were eagerly waiting for months chewing every bit of rumor, just for Apple to hint new iMacs on wwdc but still not give a specific release date. I mean, what’s the point in announcing new products and not letting your customers know when they will be available exactly? Especially if the new iMacs drop in this fall, so soon after the wwdc, I don’t see why we shouldn’t know about it already.

One more week then I’m done waiting. It’ll be a used 2017 iMac Pro for me and no AS until the 2nd or 3rd generation.
you've held out this long, if not next week then maybe four weeks of August. How quickly can you find a used iMac Pro? Even I contemplated that as well.

AS - 2nd or 3rd generation is a better wait. All the armchair pundits are thinking this will be a hit but with anything tech the first generation always has issues and AS wont be any different.

Twitter lit up this morning about next week. If it really does happen next week then full kudos to @DrRadon who had this hunch a month ago.

If it doesn't happen next week then I do know for sure the War for Cybertron Trilogy will be out. Cant really lose next week. :)

Oh nice. gimme gimme.
To be fair, next week i had only dim hope. But at least it would be in the same ballpark still. <3
I suppose i said maybe "the week after 30 days after the keynote" because WWDC was on till friday.

I have to much hope again now. Q_Q

I only found out the other day (9to5Mac HH podcast), that the reason Apple gave up with Nvidia (or one of the reasons), was that Apple wanted final sign-off of the GPU drivers, but Nvidia wanted full control.

Perhaps very common knowledge, but I hadn't heard of it before!
[automerge]1595620762[/automerge]

That makes sense to me. (There was also the law suit re: gpu failure on Macbook Pros? Was there a 'fight' over who payed for that?)

But the driver thing sounds like part of the reason why Apple wants to go 1st party on cpus/gpus.

Basically, after 2nd rate treatment at all levels and thus, the customers who buy their products, they've decided to take matters into their own hands and control their own destiny.

If Apple can make their own cpu and gpu like they make the gold standard of Os (aka MacOS?) then we're in for a real treat... (and a *real* Mac 'Mini.' ;) ...)

I thought this cpu would be tied to Sep 2nd's big Intel event. But this image from the link suggests overwise.

Whilst there are 65 watt cpus...they are 2.8 base clock 10 cores.

...and

i9-10900K

10C/20T

3.7 GHz

5.1 GHz

5.2 GHz

4.8 GHz

5.3/4.9 GHz

125W

$488

This at an eye melting 125w.

Perhaps the incoming 10 core is close to 95watts or less?

Something between the 65 and 125w options.

I'm not sure what the current iMac cpus are rated for.

But it seems something is holding up the new Intel iMac.

In short, this may be part of the reason for the hold up. A specic product or a custom iMac related cpu product for Apple.

I decided to put any new Mac purchasing on hold when ARM was announced. My 6,1 Pro will do just fine for another 12 months when I hope there will be an ARM iMac to move across too.

You'll be fine with that. It will keep going and going. You're good for another 12 months on that.

There will be an iMac custome AS ARM product to move to. It will bury the current Mac desktops.

iMac Pros are 3.5k on eBay. Some below that.

As always, exhaustive looks through the retail channel and using any discounts can help drive the price down.

It's old. Apple shouldn't be charging £5k for it. Blooming cheek.

Yup next week is it for me too. After that I’m either buying an iMac Pro or getting a super nice 32” 4K display from Ben-Q.

A 32k BenQ display can be had for £450-ish. A lot cheaper than an iMac Pro.

There are deals to be had on the iMac Pro (which will probably be 'aged' even more by the new Intel iMac...and have an increased price pressure on the iMac Pro both through dealers and 2nd hand on eBay.) as it's now 3 years old.

I never could be bothered to learn most of the acronyms.

I'm good with B.C and A.D.

Or 'T' for Tea.

Or A for Apple...

...and I know my alphabet...

The image retention on my 2014 5k 27" is getting pretty horrendous... getting impatient >_<

I was getting a bit of that with my 24 inch iMac. Though I know this has been an iMac issue.

Haven't suffered with that on my 27 inch iMac. The screen has outlasted the gpu. :)

Plenty of iMac Pros on eBay with the usual caveats of doing background checks, doing research, looking at 100 of them to do comparisons of prices and specs and customer trust etc.

These would have made 'great' Mac 'Minis.'

Beautiful designed which suffered Apple's incredulous boutique pricing. Around this kind of price? With modern specs?

Yes please. I'd take it.

I came back to this thread after a while. Small recap: next week should be THE week?
[automerge]1595668477[/automerge]

According to that rumour *points above...*

'Could' be.

For those with 'dead' Macs, most welcome.

There is a potential Intel cpu release that may coincide with that. Again. Heat efficient cpus that can go into the iMac.

See Videocardz link.

I'm still hopeful we will see a ~24" AS iMac alongside whatever portable(s) they release.

It's essentially the same product in Intel Macs.

I'd expect the same with the move to AS14. Except they clock the desktop part higher.

They could release the MB13, Air, Mini, iMac24 all at the same time.

Same thing. Different form factors.

75% of the transition done. Consumer transition? Done.

They've got the cases done. Just waiting on Big Sur and the AS14.

Azrael, I know you like high res monitors, but 32k is a bit much...

Freudian slip.

Probably not wanting to kill current sales. Which wasn't an issue when they previewed the Mac Pro and iMac Pro.

How it feels to wait for the AS iMac :

View attachment 937218

The one song of their's that I like.

Alot of tech' convergence is happening in September.

Intel have an event. (That may be for their gpus...though. As new 'heat' appropriate cpus seem imminent...see Videocardz link...)

AMD Sep/Oct for RDNA2.
Nv' Aug/Sep/Oct for Ampere (They'll be watching AMD closely...and soaking those Nv fan boys for the 2080ti for as long as they can...)

PS5 Oct-
Back to the Mac Fall Event MB13/Air/iMac24/Mac Mini?

And I didn't mention the incoming iPhone12. I'm bored of iPhones.

I don't need another 'phone.' What do guys need a phone for anyway? We don't communicate, we don't call...we don't text...and we never send flowers... :p

£1k. Just an expensive tracking device.
