Simple games from Stellaris, WOW, or WOWs. I have had it spike on a twitch stream. All it takes is one thread to spike and the fan is off to the races.

On another note, considering the price point of Apple TV which is an ARM based system I am not holding my breath that Apple will restrain themselves on pricing. If anything there is a good chance they will come down the line with you can't buy this performance on Intel but you can with us, for a price

WoW. I was ok on my iMac for that. Open GL wasn't bad. Before the Legion patch I was getting 100 fps. After? 50-60 in the newer 'Legion' style zones. And yes. As soon as you do 'that' and 'something' else. Off it goes.

Apple and prices. Their cynical BTO prices...the way they've pushed up prices on Macs and iPads and iPhones...

And the Mac Pro. 'I'm out.' (Thought I at the time.)

Their track record on pricing iWheels and iStands precedes them.

Truly amazing. I need and iMac and can’t get one for weeks/months. Really Apple? The iMac supply issues have been going on for a long time.

Windows machines are available.

Yep. Enough to make buyers despair. Irritating. It's 2020 and you can't get a 'new' up-to-date mainstream desktop from Apple. Pretty rubbish.

All the 2019 needed was better cooling and a BTO 5700 option. And kick the FF.sake drive to the curb. A 512gig SSD is available on the Mac Mini for £1099.

They're making really hard work of it. How hard to re-assign the iMac Pro shell and BTO the 5700. Two defficiencies of the current model are cooling and the gpu. Those could be sorted with better cooling and making the 5700 available as a BTO. It shouldn't be rocket science for a 1.5 trillion company. If it's no new design. How hard can that be?

This is the last time I get caught like this.

Dual platform. Mac/PC. The latter I'll be able to upgrade any time I want. AS Macs. Well. Any AS Mac should be 'decent' enough after years of mediocrity.

How long does it take to offer this Intel iMac...? :p

Good points. We'll see how this shakes out. I just wish they would hurry up and get on with it.

I've forgotten *my* NAME.

I wish they'd get ON with it.

really like the look of 6600 being associated with MAC. I really hope that turns out to be true and not just of iMac Pro or Mac Pro

Aha. You saw that? ;)

I had a little peak at that too...

Close to twice the performance of the 5700XT (allegedly...)

I'd like to have that as a BTO option. (At a sane price.)

...and aren't M$ doing an 'X BOX' event in August?

Be ironic if it includes RNDA2 and the Intel iMac doesn't. :p

That koiyma Twitter is dead to me. Got me pumped for an update this week and then nothing. The only thing it’s good for is a guarantee of opposite results. The antithesis of knowledge. The opposite of truth. The epicenter of despair.

I've just rewatch the RDNA 2 demo on the Unreal engine and I can't help but to think that Apple knew all this and saw this too (probably in advance) as I'm sure they get samples etc. so even with that knowing they are still switching to AS so I'm sure Apple's AS will match RDNA2 soon also. I wouldn't be surprised if we get A15 to match RDNA2. I agree that raw numbers might not be as huge but I know that Apple won't focus on that. I'm sure they will focus on the experience and that is where it counts.

if untweaked A12Z can drive what we saw then A15 tailored will be a beast.

Right now when I switch between apps or I minimise I get spinning wheel almost all the time (when switching from a game to safari for example) which is super frustrating.
I know I only have 16gb ram but still. The system should be better optimised than this.

So yeah, can't wait for AS chips that will be way more smooth and efficient than this Intel crap :)

Tim Cook's opening statement to the Anti Trust thingy.

"I look forward to answering your questions".

The first question should unequivocally be:-

When is a redesigned iMac coming?

No, you can't take a break, answer the fookn question.

You've dealt koiyma a sound thrashing. A beat down for the eons...leaving him wearing sack cloth and ash...scattered to the four winds of chance... Nay...we say him NAY!!! A stopped clock may be right twice a day...

'The epicentre of despair...'

E'er had I written such prose. :/

Has it come to this...that Apple leaves us in such wanton despair...a nadir of frustration...

...the guarantee of opposite results.

Had D.H Lawrence written it so...us poor little sparrows...bereft of modernity...

Macs rendered so.

Waxing poetic again, Az? Waiting for a new iBox is really working on you, isn't it? It's just sad that we are waiting for last year's technology from a US$1.5 trillion company that was founded on not making junk.

At the risk of repeating myself, it's still the latest offering available from AMD....

It's not Apple's fault.

Releasing an iMac with Rocket Lake (or whatever lake that comes after Comet) and RDNA2 would push the release date even further.

Well I do work in the theatre...

And that latest tweet as the good DrRadon points out is very unlikely to come true as well, announce an event and then in between the time of the announcement and the event, hold an event?! (Even if it is just a digital release).

I’m just bummed. I want a new machine. I have a project I can‘t really start until I get the new machine (my laptop sounds like a jet taking off whenever I open the file). But all good things will come. If they keep pushing it off I’ll start wondering about the apple silicon instead of the last intel.

The last intel.... sounds like a 90’s Kevin Costner movie.

If this truly is the last Intel iMac, I will be purchasing it at the very least as a stop gap between now and the redesign as I need bootcamp to run Windows. Has Apple said anything about eventually running Windows on Apple Silicon?

A good point, and well taken. Now my only question to that would be: Are you telling me that regardless of when Apple had released a system during the past 11 years, they would have been selling older, stale (thank you Azrael) iMacs? If so, then how did they produce cutting edge stuff when Steve was the boss there?

My complaint is that during the past decade they've been taking parts off the shelf, blowing off the dust, and putting them into the desktop computers that they sell for NEW COMPUTER prices. I just don't remember Mr. Jobs doing that.

My feeling: If you're going to charge high dollars for your new products, but rely upon vendors to make parts for you, you should probably use their new, high end parts in your products! Don't charge big money for old products. 'Nuf said.

Officially not. But I doubt we will ever see a Windows version adapted to run on such a custom silicon.

You will probably be able to run ARM Windows with Parallels in late-2021 or 2022, but never natively I think. And forget all x86 versions of Windows.

I don't know. All I can remember is that Apple usually release a computer within the next 3-6 months after Intel releases a new gen CPU. But that is valid only for the laptops. I acknowledge that the desktops at Apple have always been updated only sporadically.

A lament for the company Steve Jobs reforged.

Which is totally fine. Why releasing something that is outdated in a month? Lets wait and get proper machine update and not some half baked (or fully baked in Intel's terms) product.

Quality over quantity. Lets wait till fall 2020 - simple :)

They have. Craig said that they are aware of that and 'hinted' on a solution. But its not officially declared yet

I don't think that's a possibility. If they do so, we don't talk about an October release, but more a Q12021. Apple generally release their computer 3-6 months after the release of new hardware.
