My question is the nano-glass. is that worth the $500 upgrade?

More cores. More plug ins?
From the AMD hackintoshes that use more cores (check out YouTube...) the benching on Logic suggests having more cores can be a 'Good Thing.' TM.
I'd got the 10 core. 10 cores. 20 threads!
8 core? 16 threads.
Plus the i9 is 'a bit newer.'
You could go for the Tier 3 8 core/5500XT and upgrade the CPU on it. Keep the GPU as 5500XT and up the internal SSD to 1TB.

They use Micron chip which is probably the best DRAM chip you can get. What is higher quality about the crucial RAM? Is there any that work better with Logic ?
This guy had just exceeded the limits to get my respect. Too bad for him. Never call me a sucker.Use of foul language is unhelpful
Okay, did some tests to check the performance. Keep in mind I bought the mid 27 and I haven't upgraded the RAM yet since I'm waiting for that to come in the mail.

finally an upgrade.
my needs have changed somewhat since 2014 when i got my last iMac (3.5 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5) and these days all i really do is some light photo editing/managing, video stuff on a very small scale and some music editing on a small scale.
As much as I'd like to get the top of the line model, my needs probably don't require it and im leaning towards this: "
- 3.3GHz 6-core 10th-generation Intel Core i5 processor
We'll have to wait for the first impressions, but my guess is the 10-core will be loud as hell under load.I would like to have the 10 core CPU but I worry a bit for the thermals. Do you think that it will be fine?
Lots of no name brand third parties also use Micron. It's the QA that matters, not just the chips. In my experience good brands are like Crucial (Micron), Hynix, Samsung. These are the brands that actually make their own memory chips and have excellent QA, and these are the brands that Apple itself uses. Out of these three though, the easiest one to get at retail is Crucial. If not one of these, then you're on to companies like Kingston, etc. They use Micron chip which is probably the best DRAM chip you can get.
Thank you, this is what I'm afraid of.We'll have to wait for the first impressions, but my guess is the 10-core will be loud as hell under load.
