  • 10-core Intel Core i9
  • 8GB 2666MHz DDR4 memory (Have 64GB ready to go when it's here)
  • 2TB SSD storage
  • Radeon Pro 5700 XT
  • Gigabit Ethernet
  • Standard glass

I ordered the same configuration but with 10gb Ethernet on the 6th. It just shipped and is apparently in Shanghai.

That is a terrible experience. Did you use a credit card or debit card (it seemed like the latter).

Aperently it's a debit card. When i got a MasterCard i automatically assumed that it was a credit card by brand name only (i guess).

I'm not buying the reason Apple told you that you ordered an iMac with the old parts. Sounds strange from their part. It's not like you were the only person who ordered the same computer on that day. They must have had hundreds of orders. It is what is it...

How does one confuse a credit card for the debit card, didn't you read the fine print upon sign up?

You should stop using that card and switch to a credit card for all purchases. Last time my bank sent me a debit card I cut it up.

This is beyond stupid.

Apple now switched from "nono, that money has been released right after initial blocking it" to "nono, this has been overcharged, and you only get that money when the full order has been delivered" wich in essence means that i need to pay this iMac twice, and than, after it's been delivered, i get the initial 4000€ back... seven days after it has been released.
THEY canceled the ONE iMac i ordered and reordered it. It's their mistake. And they can't do jack do fix it because "the system won't allow this". Are you fn kidding.

This is a complete gong show.

Hey thanks for the update, but this isn’t your personal blog Doc....

Just got a call from Apple.

My E-Mail to Tim Cook (also wrote Deirdre and Eddy) from Tuesday actually reached someone with power, and while there was explicitly said "i can't make any promises", i was told that the person who called me is now trying to solve this, bring back the human component into two computers talking to each other.

Interesting. Sometimes the best thing is to make a bit of 'noise' and email people in positions of power.

Your treatment as customer in this instance is well short of the standard of a world class company.

Keep us informed of this.

Apple like taking the money. But when they get it wrong (as they have here...) it's important they fix it. And make it right. Quickly!

Buying computers are stressful enough. The waiting for a new model. Ordering it. Then waiting again for it to arrive.

Azrael.

Boom!!! You wrote to Tim together with Eddy Cue & Deirdre O’Brien?? So the urban legend is true that writing to Tim does bear fruit.

Hope you get this resolved. If it makes you feel better I can't get an iMac till late September. Shipping to Australia is a bit messed up.

Well, i doubt they read it. But there surly is a team reading mail to his account.

Apple called me a second time just now. They pushed my payment date back a month so this order can't get canceled on Monday and they are working with my bank to solve this now.

The only question that remains is, why was no normal (to even higher up) after sales person able to do anything close to this. Because they als talked to payments and were not able to move anything, even suggested to just cancel and reorder (including sending the AirPods back to Apple). But well, thats for Apple to worry about. I feel certain they do like to sell 4000+€ computers so i doubt they want things like this to happen.

If you google, you will find stories of people having dropped Tim an email especially when dissatisfied and swift action is taken. I'm sure there is a team reading his email on the default account.

I tried to chat with an agent this morning but that was a colossal waste of time. Just got run arounds that there are increased processing times with the pandemic and it ships from an international warehouse (no ****) and that it reflects the updates. They did say it was ‘configured’ but it’s clearly pretty scripted. I’ll actually call later.

I tend to believe that since I am in my delivery window now the system thinks it’s delayed and just kicks out the available current window instead. They are probably running a little behind but I can’t see 8 weeks for something ordered day 2 of avail and people already have it.

Good luck to anyone wanting one. Sounds like there’s stock issues of certain things, no one cares it’s just a lame sorry and it is what it is. I’m either about to cancel or for sure it will be the last Mac I buy. To DrRs point for a 4k+ machine they treat you like you bought phone case. No thanks. I assume they only care about iPhones now. Every Mac I’ve ordered the last 10 years has had a hiccup, end of the line.

In the recent Congressional documents published on Apple antitrust practices, it was said that devs would email Tim Cook about an issue and he would read it and send it to other leadership inquiring if it was a genuine issue. I wouldn't be shocked if Cook saw your email. This is an absurd case of Apple losing its excellence, I'm sorry you've had to deal with it, but god willing now that the 2 trillion dollar corporation is paying attention you can get your computer!

So after getting the 15-22 and calling and not getting anywhere, earlier on my app refresh it moved to sep 11-14, and now it’s up to sep 3-11...I’ll take I guess but This isn’t the Apple of old.
Perhaps this has given me confidence in placing my order. However, waiting one month for an expensive computer is not for me as indicated this morning, stretching to 1st October. yikes!!!
