No, he's not.

He said "aiai"

Apple iPad, Apple iMac.

AirTags are not even a real commercial product.

Some are speculating "aiai" could also mean:

Air Tags
iPads
Apple Pencil
iMacs

One of the "a" could also be Apple TV or Air Pods V3.

And as the hosts of the "Upgrade" podcast noted this week, we also have all these various OS updates adding more and more things to them, yet still not being released. Could be they're not ready or could be they are waiting for new products to be announced to release the updates in conjunction with.

1. AirTags are not a commercial product. This could not possibly be more clear after the release of the Find My network last week.
2. Apple TV - please. Don't make me laugh. If this product gets updated, it will be a silent update, for no other reason than to get the chipset up to date and scale down the manufacturing of the A10X.
3. AirPods Gen 2, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max were all announced via press release. You think an AirPods Gen 3 would weave its way into an event? Again, if they are going to be updated, it will not be part of the event.

Apple Pencil v3 goes hand in hand with the new display on the new iPad Pro, so while its technically a new product I don't really consider it as such.

Would you like to place a bet on that?

A lot of people waltzing around this site stating their opinions or hunches as fact...
Well, these are not opinions. It's called logical deduction, as a result of paying attention.

Very often rumors that only understand part of the puzzle and not the full context create a completely false impression in people. We've been hearing about AirTags for so long now that people are convinced they must be coming. Add to that the fact that: they most certainly are a real product. Just not one Apple created for commercial sale.

When Apple announced the Find My network last week, along side a slew of third party products with support for it, including AirTag-like products, we saw the fruit of these efforts for the last 1.5-2 years. The Find My network is the product. It wouldn't get casually announced via press release and then a little plastic Apple branded tag that goes along with it gets announced at an event a week later. Nope. If AirTags were intended for release, they would have been alongside the Find My network. Clearly, AirTags are something Apple created primarily for the development of the Find My network. Maybe they were also considered as a possible commercial product, until they realized it contributes nothing unique to the space. The other new trackers being announced are the same thing. The Find My network is their unique contribution.

Nah, I think he stated the fact (which was to not expect anything amazing) and then he goes into theoretical scenario that if iMacs were showed it would be amazing (basically telling us that iMacs are coming later and they are awesome)

Sounds more like he doesn’t know for sure and that there is a possibility.

Quote from gurman:”if the iMac does indeed get launched next week, that's going to be a big deal.”

and:
“Gurman announced that he doesn’t know when the new iMac will be released, and if the iMac launches at the upcoming Apple event it will be very interesting.”

Do you have the source, please? It seems that maybe all this time I was referring to a text that went through editorial so maybe I'm totally off.

Here is the video interview. My take on it is Mark doesn't have any specific knowledge on what products will be announced. iPads are pretty much a certainty at this point, but I don't think anyone can definitely surmise whether iMacs will or won't be released. I'm personally still hopeful, as I'll be buying a 24-inch on release day.

Ok, well so now we know that the event will be boring unless iMacs are announced. So, the question is - are they?

Honestly, if he knows about iPad updates then one would question why wouldn't he know about iMacs? He knows the iMacs are awesome but he doesn't know the release and yet he knows about the rest.
That to me still says no iMac next week unless last minute surprise.

Either way, I would prefer iPads next week and iMacs at WWDC just so that i can spread out the excitement :D :D :D

Anyway, I'm getting both as soon as they are available so sooner the better :)

Over here
I do agree with Gurman on one thing, if Apple could get new iMacs out next it would be a very big deal. Not like they have not been working on them for some time. Long before that last event releasing the M1.

I never usually speculate on these things and my money is on no iMac next week or any Mac for that matter. But, it is possible they are ready.

I think Tuesday everyone is going to be pretty ho hum about the announcements. Is it me or are new iPads just pretty boring anymore. At least the Tags should be cool.

Oh, it's definitely ready, that's for sure.

Yeah, iPads will be boring. Not sure about the AirTags, but I'm more excited about an iMac announcement. ;)

Just shove all the excitement at once! I want it all now!

The iPad team is separate from the iMac team. Gurman's source in this scenario likely only has access to the iPad team.
