Looking more and more like a 2020 iMac 5K is in my near-term future.

Now just ship the MiniLED MacBook Air, please, so I can try Apple Silicon. :)

Thankfully my needs changed so I only have to wait till Oct for a new macbook pro.

I WISH but do not think that the 14" will have the same optional core count and storage as the 16" but we know it won't since i will be using in clamshell mode most of the time.

All the Fall Apple product numbers just hit the EEC database. Only two are Macs, so looks like only MacBook Pro 14 and 16 will be released in 2021.

As for the Mac, the ECC database lists A2442 and A2485 as new machines, and these could perhaps be the new 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro models that are works and that are rumored to be launching before the end of the year.

Get a 24" M1 iMac - it will blow you away compared to any previous Intel iMac.
I have used: 2007-2020 Intel iMacs nothing compares to the new M1.

BTW according to 9to5:
"....Apple is still planning one more update to the current Intel Mac Pro, which recent rumors have suggested could be powered by the Intel Ice Lake Xeon W-3300 workstation CPUs.

REALLY ????

Unfortunatly it won't when it comes to gaming. I'm waiting for at least 16 GPU cores, rather 32. Maybe I'll go for a MacBook 14"-16". :)

I was really hoping to replace my 2014 27” iMac before the fall this year. Still works well, but runs at half the speed of my M1 MBA. Also can’t upgrade to Monterey as it is too old. Oh well looks like the £ stays in the bank until next year.

I‘m kinda glad that Apple doesn‘t rush the big boy iMac out the door. The longer it takes, the better (beefier) the used M-class chip will be. Keeping my fingers crossed for 32“ as well.

I'm sure its nice but the GPU still sux.

Sure, if he is coming from 2011 then it will be huge upgrade but does he want the tiny screen?

For some reason, I do use 24 screen (from work) at home and its ok but the iMac in that size just looks like a toy. I think the 27" is the right size (or bigger) for anything :)

Thats just me of course. I wouldn't buy this screen size for myself. Its just too small. Wish my work had bigger screens :)

Yeah, me too. M2 variant or nothing. The M1X will probably not be as beefy with the GPU as we would want. M2X around WWDC (or ideally spring) would be most sensible I guess.
But, if nothing is getting M2 this fall then we might be in trouble and everything might just take much longer.

I guess we will find out this year what Apple choose as a timeline for its products.

GPU performance is not important to me, so I might just get the 14" MBP as my new Mac and give up Retina for day-to-day and buy another QHD (2560x1440) 27" display and use it with the 14" MBP and as a second display for my Alienware PC, which would replace my iMac 5K's BootCamp partition for my day job (which is Windows-focused).

I've gone from a 27" QHD to a 27" 4K monitor as a second display for my iMac. Scaled to 2560x1440 on the 4K, the image quality is much better than the QHD doing it natively, and not far off the 5K iMac. Unless the design of the larger iMac is better than the 24" (height adjustment being a big issue for me, the iMac is too high), I am going to go with a high end Mac Mini or 14" MBP depending on specs and prices, and have a second 4K monitor if I go with the Mini.

I think my HP Z27k G3 looks better than the iMac it sits alongside. I wouldn't have expected that kind of outcome a few years ago. Apple have stagnated while others have advanced. Hopefully there is something nice to come from Apple.

Yah so let's wrap it up, the video says:

No imac pros.
The mac pro jr. will take the highend imac and old imac pro space
The mac pro jr. will start at $3000.
The new imac will have under a 30" screen. so 28-29"
New larger screen iMac will start at $2000 retail or slightly less
A NEW DISPLAY will match the new imac size and be sold for around $1200.
New imacs will be m1x and arrive in spring '22 and basically be a screen size extension of the current imac 24 models.

I guess this means the displays will not be shown or sold till spring now upon the launch of the new imacs.

Personally, my choice to move to a mac pro m1x makes me feel better after this report since i will be bouncing between home and office much more this fall.

I have a feeling they will show up Jan-Feb., or at least announce with a slight delay ship.

MCK said over a year ago Apple was sourcing a 27" 5K panel with MiniLED for what he assumed was a 2020 Intel iMac Pro refresh. MCK's strongest sources are in the display supply chain so while we have heard nothing since, I do not believe we have heard anything firm from within the supply chain about larger displays, either.

So could this new iMac just be an Apple Silicon iMac 5K?

And offering a 27" MiniLED Thunderbolt Display 5K would make some sense as it would pair well with existing Intel iMac 5Ks as well as these new M1X iMac 5Ks and would then replace the LG Ultrafine 5K display (which I expect a not-insignificant number of Mac Pro, Mac mini and MacBook Pro users have).

Honestly, this would be optimum for me since either a 27" M1X iMac 5K or a 27" TBD 5K would be a 1:1 replacement for my Intel iMac and I would much prefer 5K at 27" over 5.5K/6K at 30-32".

I found the MaxTech video logical and well-presented.

As much as I would prefer 5K, I could see Apple going 28" at 5.5K with a custom panel if they can keep the price low enough.

It's pretty much a given that MacBook Pro 14/16 with M1X are coming either in late September or early October. And Apple will talk-up M1X a great deal to lay the groundwork for it's use in the next iMac and the "Mac mini Pro".

So I am thinking maybe December for a press release about the iMac and the "Mac mini Pro".

Then in March the new MacBook Air launches with M2.

So now, for me, purely out of interest, will be what will the rumors say about the specs of the mac pro junior. Since the larger size imac will be just that, a larger size imac. save for the screen tech since that will be spun into a stand alone screen.

Biggest things I am waiting on:

1. What / if any/ slot support.
2. Number of graphic cores or perhaps some new discreet style apple-made MDX? Afterburner style card with "more graphic cores" so many in fact, that latency is diminished due to "So many cores!" :)

Based on Bloomberg reporting, I expect we will see "Mac Pro 8,1" use Jade2C-Die with 20 CPU cores and 64 GPU cores and Jade4C-Die with 40 CPU cores and 128 GPU cores.

As for PCIe slots, I believe it will be 2 or 4.

So, if the +-$1200 display is true then I can't wait for the Mac Mini or Mac Pro Mini.

Getting Apple display + some form of powerful tower is what I ideally want. Mac Mini with M1X would be a beast.

Good thing about AS is the product line will be fairly unified. This new decade will be very exciting in tech.

Lets hope we get to see the Apple VR soon too. Tempted to get a headset and would rather wait for Apple's approach as I'm sure it will have something extra. :)

And it will be the perfect machine for most of us who need more power than iMac and if the 50% price reduction is true then it could be the new perfect machine for a tons of users.

I am personally super excited about the prospect of Mac Pro Mini or Mac Mini Pro (or both :) )

The only thing we need to go with it is proper Apple Cinema Display.

Win win for everyone :)

:)

A small mac pro (jr.) on your desk might make you feel better.

Were you using Macs in the old days?

Do you remember the Mac 2 CX and CI?

Turning one of those machines on its side was my dream setup back then.
